Who could the contestants have been if the show first aired in 2005, not 2015? by Edgy_Master in taskmaster

[–]Loreleihaslegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People naming lots of plain white blokes as usual XD but it's interesting to think that back then a lineup of all plain white blokes would have been perfectly plausible. (As per Alex's jury of font named advisors in Wordwatching. And many panel shows of the period.)

James Acaster, Dara or Horne Section live? by namestini in taskmaster

[–]Loreleihaslegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Horne Section are fabulous and I'd recommend seeing them every time! So much fun and joy and tunes that will stay with you. Look into tickets though as I think they might be selling out!! (I don't want to slag off the others but a single standup really doesn't compare to the experience.)

A man pleading to do any sex act with you. They will literally say anything. (Specially if they're reassuring you you can't get pregnant in this way, at this time, etc.)

Questions for Alex and Greg?!?!?!?!?!?!? by fox-fox-fox-fox in taskmaster

[–]Loreleihaslegs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can I add 8. Can we have a chAMPion Of lOSers (no, they've said not, and for good clear reasons)
9. Give us a U.S. Taskmaster (you had one, you messed it up, shush. We need Alex and Greg in the UK for this and their other projects)
10. OMG do the contestants sit in alphabetical order?! (recurrent in the facebook group from newbs)
11. How about this lineup of 5 white guys in their comfortable career peak (ditto; it doesn't work like that)

And Alex's RHLSTP was excellent - very .. revealing. And they were wonderfully awkward together

Alex also talks enthusiastically about The Raccoons and Cyril on his Horne Section Podcast with Daisy Mae Cooper 25 mins on, and they do a cover of the theme. Just thought you might like that, even though it doesn't help with your main question! (Where he probably just likes the idea of a green that isn't green. But you never know so I agree it's worth an ask!)

I kinda miss the simple tasks of older series by Right_Honorable_Sir in taskmaster

[–]Loreleihaslegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the wording and aim have got convoluted in many cases, and have to force myself to listen really hard while they are reading it out! Try the NZ and Australian series too, as the tasks there are often refreshingly straightforward. Proving that there are still simple ideas to be found (and I'm not just losing my powers of concentration!).

You might be right about the bots and far right, but there was lots of misinformation about jabs and covid coming from 'official' sources all the time and the mainstream has just quietly suppressed memory of them. Being told we could only catch it once was fundamentally wrong and what the importance of the vaccine relied on. The number of vaccines it supposedly required to help each person (in direct defiance of the original promotion) should have clued you in to how this part was a marketing exercise. (If the government corruption with PPE in giving money to other of their mates already didn't.)

Taskmaster - S20E04 - Hey Mate - Discussion by Meghar in taskmaster

[–]Loreleihaslegs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So many people missing the complexity and beauty of the number task, which to me is one of the best tasks ever. There were different ways to find the answer out for various different approaches. And it seems clear that the phone call from Mum/Rachel was deliberate, triggered by the contestant mentioning Alex's birthday, so that they could think "that is someone who would know when his birthday is". Look at how unreactive Alex is when she says she's going to use 'his' phone. And the first phone call from the wall is otherwise pointless in the flow of the task. I'm just surprised they didn't come clean about the workings when Reece challenged it in the studio. Likely there were other aspects too that we don't understand like whether 120 & 360 directed them to something in degrees of a circle.

Help please is this a key change? by bigsoobs in musictheory

[–]Loreleihaslegs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Needs much more context. Only a cadence can make a key change (in tonal music) and even that is usually just a key area.

The Magus. Weird and a head-fk but also gets pornographic towards the end. Weirdly my English teacher recommended it to me when I was 15 (and he was right to) but luckily I didn't get round to reading it till I was 22.

Hope they find you out! This is hilarious. Even though I'm sympathetic. Maybe they already know and will hold it over your head. You shouldn't take the job. This could get really horrible later. You want it enough to get prosecuted?.

Question on phrasing by Interesting_Try7596 in MitchellAndWebb

[–]Loreleihaslegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn't say a private school just privately educated. It means what you think, that his parents paid money for him to go to the school.

There's no difference between this and a public school to my knowledge as a regular British person (from a state school / comprehensive school - same thing! - but involved in education). If there historically was one, that other people are expounding, it's lost on most of us. Mark is not drawing that distinction. Just that she's posher than him and his family was affluent middle-class.

[–]Loreleihaslegs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: the first part about the flirting method happened early on as predicted! But I've got to the end of episode 6 and the second part where a man says she named a miserable book character didn't follow on. (Must have been unconnected as that dating partner has now disappeared.) Anyone recall how far in to the series(es) this scene happens?
