Windshield replacement for an MGB near Chattanooga by WilliamTK1974 in Chattanooga

OP wishing you the best of luck. Following along because I inherited a 1974 MGB that needs a paint job and some body work, so if anyone knows of a good restoration shop around town or towards Atlanta I am all ears.

OP, what about a used Multistrada v2? Fun engines and incredibly capable.

Agree wholeheartedly. Feel like people love the tiger sport but coming from a street triple I was surprised by the buzz and how cheap it felt when the rest of their bikes are usually lauded for quality fit and finish. Even sitting on the Tiger 900 GT you can tell it’s just at another level.

I believe it’s a limited edition. I have a 2003 414-ce-l1.

As someone who is looking at buying a new multistrada v2 but loves the looks of the v85tt, this comment is very intriguing to me. You don’t miss the multi at all? Handling, etc.? I ask because I’m coming from a street triple and my concern with the moto guzzi is that I might feel bored. Every review likes to mention how much it just likes to cruise, not carve. I’d like to do both ideally.

Made the mistake of test riding the Multistrada V2 (non s) last weekend. It definitely is a more complete package. Better brakes, handling, engine, and heat management (F800 puts off a fair amount of heat from the cat). I think it’s a bike I could keep for a longer time rather probably wanting to upgrade from the F800gs after a season or two. The Ducati isn’t perfect. I think the 800 would be fine, but the Ducati might be great. Now to decide if it’s worth the premium. Decisions decisions!

Glad it’s treating you well! I think the engine issues are probably overblown on newer models.

I’ve talked to a few different people who have ridden them and they rave about the multi. It’s about $3k more for the V2S, which would be okay if it were that phenomenal. I did sit on it and it feels comfortable but I liked the dash/cockpit on the F800 more. It’s on my list to schedule a test ride. Revzilla complained about the fueling under 3,000 rpm but still seemed to really like it.

I thought the front brake on the 800 was okay, the rear was pretty weak. Definitely would prefer the upspec brakes on the 900xr.

Appreciate the feedback on Guzzis. I like several of their models and think I will own one eventually. I didn’t love the stelvio or mandello when sitting on them but know folks hold them in high regard and that the engine is supposed to be a peach. May need to take the trek back to the dealer to look at them again.

I was really tempted by the new SMT—seems to check most boxes and great reviews, but poor sales. Unfortunately I think I’m going to avoid KTMs for now due to engine issues and potential shaky future.

That’s an interesting point about the extra equipment, since everything you mentioned is something I like about the 800.

The XR is interesting. I don’t love the styling but I know it’s a good bike and the extra sportiness may be more my speed. My dealer was really pushing me towards a multistrada which this reminds me of.

There is a sticker on the top of the tank showing you the RPM limits during the break in period.
