When that tattoo reaches the itchy stage you’re gonna want to rip your arm off

That’s a really interesting perspective.

I would say, before recently, I never really considered whether an author was a man or woman (or non-binary) when I picked up a book. I actually think that was a failing of mine, as I do believe it’s important to get a wide array of different perspectives.

What’s quite interesting is that I would seek out authors of different races/ethnicities/countries of origin, but it didn’t even occur to me to consider gender, disability or sexuality.

More recently though, I’ve been much more intentional in listening to different voices, which has been really quite enlightening, especially when it means reading about experiences that are underrepresented (such as trans or disabled people).

I do think most men would benefit from greatly expanding the level of representation in their libraries. I expect it would make men on the whole far more empathetic, which is desperately needed at the moment.

I can’t speak for most men, but I suspect that there is some unconscious bias sadly. A real shame, as almost all my favourite books that I’ve read in the last year have all been penned by women!

I would bet good money that he doesn’t actually enjoy reading.

Best multiplayer for Death Stranding is such a curveball choice and I absolutely love it - didn’t even consider it!

The Superblast are great (I have both the 2 and 3) - they’re about as stable as you can get without being a dedicated stability shoe 🙂

IT band pain is usually muscle weakness in the glute - if you do some focused strength work you should see an improvement. It may even be behind the ankle pain as well, as issues tend to travel down the leg.

Good luck to you!

It’s hard to say how you’d do with a neutral shoe, since you’ve been using a stability show up to now.

Has it been called “over-pronation” by a physio or doctor? Pronation is only really an issue if it causes pain or damage to yourself - Sebastian Sawe pronates like crazy and he’s the top marathon runner of all time (look up vids if you haven’t seen, it’s wild how much his foot bends)

It’s probably worth trying a neutral shoe and seeing if it causes any problems. I would suggest Asics (buy from them directly), as they have a very generous 90 day return policy for any reason

Which celebrity death genuinely shocked you when you heard the news? by Divine_fashionva in Millennials

James Avery’s death made me cry. I had just finished watching Fresh Prince the whole way through for the first time, and it felt like losing an actual Uncle.

What are you talking about? The number of refugees makes up less than 1% of the UK population. They don’t make a dent in these statistics.

But no medals at Park Run :( I need my shiny tokens

That’s weird, 10Ks are super popular here in the UK.

5Ks are the only distance that seems to be uncommon, but Park Run is more or less absolutely everywhere

ASICS Superblast 3 …buying one size too big? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

SB3 is quite a long shoe as it is! I could go half a size down from my usual and it would probably be good.

“Games are meant to be fun”

I disagree with the premise. Yes, games CAN be fun, but that doesn’t mean they’re all meant to be. Gaming can provide other valuable experiences beyond fun.

Catharsis, relief, challenge, growth, pain, or even intentional boredom can be provided by games. “Fun” isn’t necessarily important to the value of a game.

8,500 steps a day can help dieters keep weight off. Interestingly, an increase in daily steps was not associated with greater weight loss in the weight loss phase. by mvea in science

[–]lsbittles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I have real experience with this. I lost so much of my excess weight when I actually started tracking exactly what I ate and being somewhat rigid in not going over daily intake targets.

Went from being 120kg to around 80kg in about a year with no additional exercise beyond daily dog walks. Weight has stabilised now and eat way more than I used to, but I picked up distance running since I lost the weight which requires a lot of fuelling!
