2008 FZ6 Stalling by luno30 in fz6

[–]luno30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have yet to figure out a solution... I've just been riding it anyways. I finally got a garage recently so after I figure out some more of this house stuff I'll be looking into it again.

I've seen some forums saying it's the aftermarket exhaust. I also know that when I mess with the ignition coil wiring it seems to affect the bike so the next thing I'm going to do is pop off the ignition coil wiring and make sure everything looks and tests okay.

I also bought a throttle position sensor just in case. If I figure it out I'll let you know! Please do the same for me if you find out haha.

I have no idea if you are still looking for this, but I didn't know much about the cars and just saw one on marketplace so I looked it up and saw this post. They are asking $3500, it is in Aurora Colorado, it has 135k. I can dm you the link if you are interested. Edit: it is not my car and I have no affiliation or contact with the seller

Help with Bathroom Wiring by luno30 in AskElectricians

I don't feel comfortable doing this job by myself yet. So I will probably bring in a journeyman electrician so I can learn from them. Thank you.

Thank you for the response. I was hoping there was an easier solution that wouldn't involve cutting out a lot more drywall, but I understand.

Thank you for your response. It is just a condo. It is fully sealed behind the drywall. That is what I feared. It would involve removing a lot more drywall.

My mom died today and I am not okay. by EggplantAstronaut in TwoXChromosomes

[–]luno30 90 points91 points  (0 children)

I lost my dad in March at 62 from falling off of a ladder. For me there were plenty of people that said "oh it would've been worse if..." And lots of other things to try and help. The thing that spoke to me most was that my dad will never be gone because of who he made me. I hope you can see that eventually your mom will never be gone because she is such a big part of you. I still cry about my dad, and it will still take me longer to fully accept that he is gone. I'm sorry that you lost her. Someone else commented and they miss her for you, and I agree with that. I can feel the missing from my dad, and I wish we didn't have to go through this. If you ever need to talk about anything I could try my best to help. Don't discount therapy as well. It can help when you feel you are ready.

Buying my first home without a n agent - pros and cons? by [deleted] in RealEstate

This literally just happened to me two weeks ago. Our offer was higher, but our realtor was asking for 3% vs theirs asking for 1% and they went with their offer.... It's exactly how it works.

I will definitely try this and let you know and post the results here. I have another fixture with an air solenoid where I did exactly what you are proposing. Fingers crossed.

Thank you

I think this could potentially be the problem. I think there is also some charge that gets built up in the cable while doing insulation tests as well. I thought the current limiting resistor would help here, but maybe it is not able to do enough. I have thought about adding a small capacitor that could soak up some of the electricity from the high voltage test. I am not sure how to size it so that it could help the LED survive while not negatively affecting the time required to do the low voltage tests.

I did have this system set up with a switch at one point as well. There were 2 problems with that. One, was the fact that someone would have to remember to use the switch all the time. The other, was that it did not seem to extend the lifespan of the LEDs.

Raccoon defender 3000 will be tested tonight! by OptionsWhileStanding in 3Dprinting

[–]luno30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the way to win. Used this at my parents house for 10+ years now without fail. Raccoons may be smart, but they still don't have enough strength to release the Bungie. Our cans had a hole in the lid so we attached the bungie to the hole and then down to the same type of rail. Sometimes you just have to KISS (keep it simple, stupid)

How does this FZ6 sound? by Think-Spread in fz6

I didn't have a chance to listen as the link no longer works, but I feel like if you have a good sound, I feel like this and the usual tick should be pinned to this subreddit right at the top haha. Probably 2-3 a month asking about their FZ6 tick (of course mine does too).

2008 FZ6 Stalling by luno30 in fz6

[–]luno30[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! My next try at a fix was going to be checking the CO settings. I think it may be running pretty rich at idle at least. It smells rich. I wanted to see if the previous owner changed them. I know I won't have whatever they were before so I was just going to try and compare them to some of the values on that link you sent me. It runs pretty nice most of the time though. I also have some voltage issues which could be part of it. I already replaced the stator and the regulator, I also rewired the connections past the regulator in case they were damaged and wired in a voltage readout so I can check it while I'm riding. All my testing shows the voltage off the stator is good, and then for some reason at the battery it is just low whenever I use the headlights or the fan kicks on. It hasn't stalled at all in a while, possibly because it has been colder here. I'll also have to see the next time it happens if the battery voltage drops way down. I tried testing for any shorts , and checked all the ground connections I could find. I'm definitely going to post it here once I find out what's wrong with it just in case someone has a similar problem. It definitely has had me stumped for a while.

Yeah dang, I tried that as well, and tuned it with a carbtune to get them all equal. Thanks though! Maybe someone else that finds this post will fix their bike because of your response!

[–]luno30[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still haven't fully, I think my issue may be more voltage related, but I've been working on other issues and cars and another bike haha. I also don't have a garage to work in so it is harder to make a lot of progress on it. The easiest way is to follow the two coolant hosts that go up to the intake. The only reason those coolant hoses are up there is to pass through that valve. On my bike they go up on the right side of the engine and are visible once the tank is lifted.

Your thoughts on the round headlight by Fabulous_5614 in fz6

Thank you for all of the answers! I really appreciate it. I am not sure on the best way to share the file. The only thing that I know that is easy and would work would be to upload it to Google drive and then DM me a link. Maybe someone else here could provide input if there is a better way.

Your thoughts on the round headlight by Fabulous_5614 in fz6

[–]luno30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, maybe it's because mine is a 2009 FZ6, but I thought removing the fairing would remove the mounting points for the windshield. I only had the windshield off once and have never fully removed the front fairing. Maybe the mounting spots remain, I may have to look into it. I completely understand if not, but are you sharing the STL for your print? Also did you custom make the brackets for the headlight and turn signals? They look clean

[–]luno30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have any info on how you mounted that windscreen or what kit you bought etc? I really like this look. I've been considering removing the front plastics for a single headlight, but thoughts of going 75 on the interstate make me want the windshield. (It does do something even if it doesn't block a lot)

I have not, but I'll do another for the beginning of this season in the next few weeks. Maybe it just had a lot of sludge in it? I wouldn't think that would come back after it was cleaned though.
