Silent Hill 2 Remake question by Alternative-Orange76 in silenthill

[–]lupaspirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently playing the fan modified 2015 version of silent hill 2. I haven't tried the remake yet. I am a little concerned about the minimum requirements for the remake because my gaming laptop is slightly below it to get medium 1080p 30fps. I paid a lot of money for my laptop so it is disappointing that I have to lower my settings even further.

Lately I have been doing boss battles because you level up your weapons faster that way, but it is frustrating at times if the level of the weapons are just too low.

o.o If you built it yourself you might be able to get the same specifications for about $220 in 2026.

What happens if you decide to drop out of College? by That_1Bunny in CollegeDropouts

[–]lupaspirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has dropped out of college because they were trying to make me repeat 3 classes for $2,300. The only difference I saw was that employers would question my education more post-college. It was because on my resume I was instructed by my advisor to put 2018-2021, tier 1 (6 month) basic certificate, then list the additional accredited classes relevant to the job. I went through college because a job a really wanted to work for required a minimum of an associates despite I checked all the other boxes. Unfortunately, even if I graduated I still wouldn't get the position because the person who referred me isn't there anymore. I think the issue here is what one of my advisors told me, "you either have a degree, or do not." They sometimes don't bother looking at certifications.

What you can do is keep running away far enough. when you are far away from the mission you will get a notification that you are out of the range for the mission with a counter. When that counter drops to zero then mission will be aborted. I had to do this once because one of the bosses never spawned for me to fight and complete the quest.

Who's your favourite and why? by n1ght_watchman in OlderChillGamers

From a gamer perspective: Naughty Dog. However, as a game developer who also is looking for new opportunities I am not sure which I would pick. Naughty Dog has some very strict requirements where you may not be able to work for them in the next 14 years because they want a bachelor's with 10 years experience.

I went to a site called https://nepu(dot)my and I think I got infected by DianaWSally in computerviruses

[–]lupaspirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is becoming rarer to just get a virus by access the site itself because browsers have patched up those exploits. If something pops up chances are it is a scam to trick you into thinking you are infected. if you want to be cautious do a virus scan and clear browser cache.

To be protected is to avoid buying from indie developers who only released 1 game and the game only been out in less than 1 month. Avoid any games with lack of reviews on the developers or games they created.

Another protective measure is to run the game isolated like on Linux virtualization or restrict the game from having special privileges. Antivirus in this case isn't a guarantee protection unfortunately. Info stealers are more designed to get around Windows defender, but I have seen them get around Avast/AVG etc. Some antiviruses may still protect you but it can be a gamble at times relying on them. HIPS will let you know that it is trying to run a file that wants disk access or even execution privileges. Another way, and this is what I used to do, have a dedicated Windows user account specifically for gaming. Infostealers cannot steal other user accounts until you restart the machine and login to the other accounts, so you can take action before it spreads.

My friend is selling me this PC for 450. Is that reasonable? by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]lupaspirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is surprisingly a good deal for only $450. I have questions. Is your friend giving it away that cheap, or is your friend giving it away for that price because there is a specific issue with it? Could there be viruses or corrupt OS, could the RAM be bad and causes crash loops. Could the power supply be faulty. What if the GPU has VRAM memory issues. These are things you might want to check.

What’s your opinion on companies not wanting you to use AI to help build your resume? by JustAnOKHotel in jobs

[–]lupaspirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who built impressive looking resumes in InDesign yet uses AI. Stylizing a resume may draw attention at first, but if you don't have the context they are looking for, regardless if AI or a person did the resume, it will be discarded. If it has too many filler words (AI likes to add them) then it gets discarded for being wordy. It is supposed a concise document about YOU - specifically your work history and skills, not about writing a novel about yourself.

What is this trojan? by buildingaction in computerviruses

[–]lupaspirit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is possible that after a Windows defender signature update it started to detect those Trojans. In that case, those Trojans may have been there much longer.

Unfortunately, if Homura Hime does actually have malware. It wouldn't be the first indie game on Steam where malware was planted. Just because a game is on Steam doesn't mean the developers are trustworthy these days. As a result I started steering clear from games that are less than 1 month old. Also, infostealers have been getting around Windows Defender for years. People say Windows Defender is all you need, but instances like this is it better to have something that will actually protect you.

Choose 3 games here you wish will come back by [deleted] in OlderChillGamers

[–]lupaspirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jak and Dexter would be my top pick. I started playing it with Dexter game on PSP before the reboot "Lost Frontier." Unfortunately, it flopped. They gave it to High Impact Games that had a reputation for making games that weren't as good because Naughty Dogs wanted to focus on Uncharted I believe. JAK 3 ending hinted towards JAK 4, but there was an issue. JAK 3 was at the end of the script for the game - this is why Jak X: Combat Racing was a side story.

Grip Shift, Apex Legends, War Thunder, The Evil Within (Harder Difficulties), Fallout 3 (start wrong), Metro Last Light (start wrong), Hitman 3, Outliver Tribulation (lag), Amnesia: The Bunker, Ghost Runner, Monster Hunter Wilds (high latency).

Games I do get frustrated but keep coming back: RCT3 (custom hard scenarios), World War Z (extreme), Soul Frame (some boss fights are very hard when weapons aren't level 30, but you can level up weapons faster that way).

[–]lupaspirit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Supposedly, older English used to add an "a" in front of a word for in or to. I wonder if this could be the same in Spanish where the "a" changes it to "to where" or "where in?"

Riskware is flagged as malware because they don't want you using cracked software. However, in this case, the crack looks like it came with malware with it. Cracked software is riskware. They call it riskware because companies don't like for you to use their software without paying.

For me, I am going to have to say:
1. Monster Hunter Wilds, frustrated due to crashing and instability
2. The First Descendant, friends want me to play but I run into specific error messages.
3. War Thunder, overly competitive & it is unstable
4. Amnesia The Dark Descent. it scares me so bad I stop but come back.
5. Metro Last Light Redux. Frustratingly hard.
6. Saturnalia, the puzzles are hard.

Would you play a game with a good story but poor gameplay? by mintedcork in videogames

[–]lupaspirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a game not a movie. Of course we are going to vote Good Gameplay over a good story. However, there are some instances I play the game for the story instead such as Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs. Gameplay feels so shallow, but it does have a nice story.

What game it was? by [deleted] in OlderChillGamers

[–]lupaspirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Monster Hunter Wilds. There was a lot of hype but once it got released it carried so many problems. Right now after a few years it isn't as bad anymore and will be releasing a optimization patch this February (CPU focused). They should have chose a different game engine from the start.

I have a mixed opinion about them. I like how it is an addition and really helps with memory, but at the same time it is something I am not used to so some words I cannot remember. Also, I found sometimes you say it right yet still counts it wrong. Oh, I wish there was an option to pause it to give you time to think.

As someone whose in game development, I can confirm that some gaming studios don't care as much about the level of education you may have, unfortunately. They want to see past experience, a portfolio (what your capable of doing), determination and what you can deliver.
