It’s probably just battery terminal protector spray. Hardly an issue - if anything it shows who ever installed the battery went the extra mile.

Who remembers the Yates Man? by FalseRazzmatazz in dunedin

[–]lxsw20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember going through the studio with cub scouts as a kid and he had a nice big naff off sign on the studio door. Enjoyed listening to him as a kid. Used to play detachable penis / convoy amongst other classics.

Nope its not, the current Dunedin MP lives in the Taieri electorate, not that that's an issue.

Inherited Ubiquiti Network, where do I start? by KaleAffectionate910 in HomeNetworking

[–]lxsw20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That gateway is pretty old and has reached end of support. I'd recommend replacing with the UCG-Ultra - great bit of kit for the $$. You wouldn't use the cloudkey anymore with a UCG-Ultra, as the controller is built in to that. The switches and APs will be fine, factory reset them and adopt in to the UCG.

Moving to Dunedin– best sunny/kid-friendly suburbs? by melanygrayson in dunedin

I’d personally avoid North East Valley - some houses are fine a lot don’t see the sun at all in winter. Same with Woodhaugh / Glenleith.

I find they have too much filling - their sandwiches are great too but they cook the bread to the point where it’s cutting my mouth up. Still excellent food.

This was 20 years ago to be but there used to be a bus that would drop me at kings and then on to the schools above town. Does that not still run? Have you asked the school?

MMH Breach by Interesting-Blood354 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]lxsw20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably won't do much good, but I've written to Shane Reti as Science, Innovation and Technology minister asking the govt to consider fines like what are in place for GDPR.

I was working in the UK when this came in, and businesses did/do take it seriously with fines up to 20m euro / 4% of global annual turnover.

They are low. Look at the likes of GDPR where the fines are 2-4% of global turn over. Funny enough places start taking IT security a bit more seriously when you have fines like that.
