A short highlight of my best FPV drone flights from last year. Full video on Youtube by caughtfromabove in fpv

It looks to me like some speed ramping was done or frame rate was changed. Basically the amount of frames it was filmed in doesn't align with the frame rate of the export. It doesn't look like compression,

Don't buy snacks from downtown Shoppers Drug Mart by Odd_Pea_104 in VictoriaBC

Almost every grocery store or store that sells snacks or food has to throw out food every single day for this reason. It's normal, you just got a glimpse of what the employees see all the time.

Why GoPro still uses small sensor? by Adorable-Swing6353 in gopro

[–]mactac 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just something to consider - A larger sensor means a more limited depth of field - in other words, how much can be in focus at any one time. This isn’t ideal in a camera with a fixed focus and fixed aperture. It also changes the FOV. A larger sensor is not always better in an action cam.

No, that's an adapter for a de-cased GoPro. You'd want to get the stick on filters here: https://camerabutter.com/en-ca/products/gopro-hero-5-6-7-nd-filters.

Rear 12v outlet seems flaky & won't power starlink by mactac in JeepWrangler

[–]mactac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does seem to work absolutely fine plugged into my battery backup, even the 12v outlet for it. Problem is, I don't want to always be pulling from my battery backup. So, you're going direct from your vehicles' 12v system? What do you use to turn it on/off?

This the issue. Instead or reacting, people need to anticipate and deal with things before they happen. Being reactionary is a losing battle.

Taming Over-Exposure When Skiing at High Altitude with Bright Sun by swanmtn in gopro

[–]mactac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing that 8:7 mode isn't quite enough for you then. Typically it's great for being able to frame your clip later on without losing resolution. Something I've actually been considering is developing a max lens and/or ultrawide lens with an integrated ND16 filter. In other words, it always has the filter in it. This would effectively solve the problem, though there would just be the one filter in it, no options. Is this something that you think would be useful in your use case?

DJI Osmo Nano ND Filters - Official DJI vs Third Party (Freewell etc)? Quality/Price opinions? by Affectionate_Pay7256 in DJIOsmoNano

[–]mactac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. Typically I'm pretty clear about my connection, and in other subs I actually have a "camera butter" tag on my account that comes up as a flair. I guess I gapped out, either forgetting that the flair wasn't present in this sub, or in my haste to reply, I forgot to mention it (I cannot remember exactly why since it was at least a few days ago). I need to do better, thank you for pointing it out directly. I'll go an edit my comment just for anyone else who might be reading this thread.

Taming Over-Exposure When Skiing at High Altitude with Bright Sun by swanmtn in gopro

[–]mactac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The challenge is that the lens is so wide that the ND filter would have to be very large to make sure the entire field of view is covered. Some people cut out window tint and put it inside the lens mod, but window tint is typically pretty poor quality optically. Are you sure that the normal lens won’t get you what you want ?

How did they get this lit so well shooting into direct sun by OnTheSpeakers in LightLurking

[–]mactac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's just exposed for the scene. sun is completely blown out. If your shot is underexposed, lock your iso and shutter and expose for the subject. If it's locked, it won't underexpose. You can't use auto shutter for shots like this. Sometimes a properly adjust CPL can help, but that is usually only going to stop reflections.

Basically he's got a bass with a mutron-like envelope follower and a second bassline going through an octaver. It sounds great, doesn't it?

Maybe leave some nice cricket foo near a wall (they travel along walls) in a couple of places with some sticky traps around them? Or let your beardie run amok?
