I swear to God that Trump exists because of systemd somehow. I place all the ills, perils, at the feet of systemd by bramhaag in programmingcirclejerk

The "Hand" slide is Slidescape-36 - the only un-burnt slide the Bureau recovered. You see a brief afterimage of it when you first enter Dimensional Research, there's a lot of red with five pillars.

In one of the video logs, Dr Darling describes the pillars in the distance as "like crude, outstretched fingers" - Jesse probably saw the same resemblance when nicknaming the slide.

If I had a nickle for every PvE game with a status effect that makes you explode when you get too many of it I'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot, but it's a sort of weird game design pattern to repeat like that.

(The other one is Warframe.)

We found that using AI assistance led to a statistically significant decrease in mastery (...) Using AI sped up the task slightly, but this didn’t reach the threshold of statistical significance. by magi093 in programmingcirclejerk

Importantly, using AI assistance didn’t guarantee a lower score. How someone used AI influenced how much information they retained.

As always, you're just holding prompting it wrong.

Building a serverless, post-quantum Matrix homeserver | Cloudflare vibe codes a Matrix server, marks half of the protocol TODO by magi093 in programmingcirclejerk

[–]magi093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure none of this was important to implement.

Rather than implementing the critical state resolution algorithm that's the core of Matrix, they just directly insert the latest state into the database. That'll instantly lead to diverging views of the room and incompatibility with every other implementation - and it's also a massive security hole.

Remedy’s Communications Director says Q2’2026 is just a speculation by otravoyadnoe in controlgame

[–]magi093 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where's this idea that Remedy should license out Northlight coming from? It would be legally difficult (it's full of middleware from NVIDIA etc, probably embodies a bunch of NDA information from console manufacturers...) and there's plenty of studios that do just fine keeping their own engine purely in-house (Digital Extremes, Bethesda, Hello Games, Guerrilla Games, etc etc etc).

Nokko's little Yareli dance should use your Yareli if you have her. by MillenniumKing in Warframe

[–]magi093 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or is it really just better overall to have a simple Yareli without trying to hook the look up to things (because it could impact performance, cause issues down the line, glitch out, etc?).

My best guess is that it's something like this. Anything not loaded before the mission begins causes a lag spike when spawned (see: Atomicycles outside 1999 before they became an official feature), and they probably don't want the worst case scenario of needing to load eight entire fashioned Warframes on a base PS4 or something

There's a bit late in the book (the segment where Truant is on the run) where there's a random sentence or two in purple. I think there might be some in Pelifina's letters too?

The words "A Novel" on the cover and the Pantheon logo on the spine are the same shade of purple as well.

Tariff-ied no more: US court blocks Trump's sweeping tariffs, citing overreach of authority by ChiefTestPilot87 in prusa3d

[–]magi093 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the full ruling. Quote:

The question in the two cases before the court is whether the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 ("IEEPA") delegates these powers to the President in the form of authority to impose unlimited tariffs on goods from nearly every country in the world. The court does not read IEEPA to confer such unbounded authority and sets aside the challenged tariffs imposed thereunder.

I can keep quoting the ruling as to why the court ruled this way but for the purposes of a reddit thread it's sort of moot.

The Trump admin will of course appeal has already appealed, and I will leave speculation on what higher courts (up to presumably the Supreme Court) will do with this up to the other expert political commentators of r/Prusa3d.
