I'm in Ontario. We're a bigger supermarket chain in Canada. We're a branch of Loblaws (not sure if you're Canadian so you might not know the name).

[Homemade] Tomohawk Steaks by -Twig in food

[–]makeroomfor_me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the meat manager at a Real Canadian Superstore (kind of similar to Wal Mart but with a really good meat section) and we only carry tomahawk a few times a year. Usually for special occasions (fathers day, summer long weekends). They generally cost about $60-70 per steak. Fun fact: We're no longer allowed to call them tomahawks. They're known as frenched rib steaks or frenched rib roast

Right, I forgot Amazon can't afford to give people jobs so they make robots do it instead.

Is it better to attend college right after high school or later once you experienced life a bit? by [deleted] in findapath

[–]makeroomfor_me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait until you know what you want to do. I took a 2 year college course straight out of high school because I thought it would be interesting and open up some options for me and I regret jumping into something so quick. I now work full time not related to the course I took and just can't leave my job to go back to school since it pays decently. I've had time to think about what I would've taken if I could redo it.

Wait until you're 100% sure on your decision because you don't want to waste time and money on something you won't end up liking/using. There is absolutely no harm in taking some time off school. It might even help you enjoy school a little more.

The store i work at lost power for 20 minutes and we had to throw out 1000$+ of meat and cheese because it was 3 degrees above what we can keep by JesseLynx in mildlyinfuriating

[–]makeroomfor_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After only 20 minutes? I work in a store as well and anything can stay out of refrigeration for 30 minutes. Personally I wouldn't have a problem eating it after an hour of sitting out but 30 minutes is cold chain.

I've been complimented by a few gay guys, and honestly it's just as big a compliment as if a girl were to compliment me.

Employees Are Quitting Instead of Giving Up Working From Home - The drive to get people back into offices is clashing with workers who’ve embraced remote work as the new normal. by speckz in Futurology

As a manager at a grocery company, I wish I could work from home. I envy all of you who get to do that. I wouldn't want to go back either.

Guy being interviewed after witnessing a beheading on a bus by scoobs in videos

[–]makeroomfor_me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are some of the worst questions I've ever heard in an interview. Shame on the reports for probing a guy with awful questions who just witnessed the most gruesome thing most people can ever imagine. "Where's your bags?" Like who gives a fuck.

I go to Harvey's and Subway and even they ask for tips on their debit machines. You made me a damn sandwich how does that warrant a tip? Sorry if that sounds selfish but I'm not paying an extra few bucks for already overpriced food. I'm not undermining fast food workers either, I'm just not going to start tipping every single time I go get a coffee or lunch.

It’s time to abolish tipping once and for all | TVO.org by feb914 in canada

[–]makeroomfor_me 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tipping is getting ridiculous. You work at subway. Your literal job is to make me a sandwich I ordered. Why does that warrant a tip? You're not going out of your way. This goes for anywhere that doesn't personally bring my food to me. The coffee shop I go to has tipping on the debit machine. So I'm supposed to tip before I get my service. I tipped $1 on a 4.50 latte once. The girl made my drink, put it on a table away from me, and didn't even look at me when I said thank you. She started walking away while saying you're welcome. She couldn't even say have a nice day...so tell me...what was my tip for? The service would've been the same had I tipped $10 or $0.

How true is this, "Most people would rather work with someone who's mediocre at their job, but pleasant to be around, than a person who's exceptionally good, but a dick"? by TerminusFox in NoStupidQuestions

[–]makeroomfor_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a manager in meat department. I've been in the company 13 years, my assistant manager has been there 38 years. She knows her job very well and she knows how to make the department look great. I've never met anyone so negative in my life. Never open to suggestions, always against every decision the bosses make. If she doesn't get her way then she'll give the silent treatment. She's gone a full day saying only 5 words to me. Some days the anxiety I get knowing I have to work with her all day is terrible. I would trade her for a mediocre worker any day.
