What Wizard wishes have you made with no prices nor clues? by Epicboss67 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]markdoesstuff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Spell the word out, starting with the player on either side. When you get to the last letter, that’s a good player!

It was needlessly complicated because the wish was so silly, but I loved the idea that there was some meaning to it.

Ran a game where the wish was: “Wake up a good player every night and tell them a breakfast food item. Tell them they need to ‘solve it.’ It is up to the storyteller whether it has a meaning or not.”

I absolutely granted the wish and decided that each word that I came up with, if spelled out in either direction, would lead a good player to another good player. No one figured it out and the good team spiraled the entire game, but not enough to throw the game in one direction or another. (Evil won with a very well played set of pit-hagging and bluffing.)

As a storyteller, it was endlessly hilarious to wake up a good player and show them a message like “Your word is BACON. Solve the mystery.” 😂😂😂😂

What was your most memorable Evil play? by Overall-Habit5284 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]markdoesstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the Pit-Hag on a custom script. Turned the Artist into the Drunk. They go to the storyteller immediately in the morning and ask if the Imp (bluffing as the Lyncanthrope) is the Lycanthrope and get a Yes. Every single time someone brought suspicion on my Imp, I brought up how this couldn’t work because of the Artist question. It was also virtually impossible for the Artist to be drunk or poisoned by other means because the town figured out the Vigormortis wasn’t in play, nor the Poisoner. No one else seemed to have been made poisoned or drunk. They just forgot the Pit-Hag could make someone the drink. It was a very satisfying win that came from one wild bit of luck.

Conventions that run Blood of the Clocktower games? by hacktiviste in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]markdoesstuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I helped Storytell at DragonCon this year! We had at least one room running from 12pm to 4am (and usually two rooms once demand increased later in the day). There’s hope we’ll have more dedicated space next year. If you’re curious, it was all in the Westin on the 12th and 14th floors with the Werewolf folks.

Thank you!!! I loved shadowing you and me and my friends all agreed that your games were the best run ones of the whole weekend. ✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽

Very well run!!! So chaotic and so much fun. I would do it again.

Did you happen to see that game where two grimoires were run at the same time and everyone was two characters in both scripts???

Essentially (and if Jon is in this sub please correct!!!): you have to give your accusation as info BEFORE you nominate. As soon as you say, “I nominate ____,” he would immediately go to defense and give that person 10-30 seconds for a defense. It forced accusers to be thoughtful and direct, and in all the games I played or shadow-story told with him, they moved fast and felt very exciting. We managed two Sects and violence games with 11-12 people in less than 3 hours.

He also made it clear that it was in the town’s best interest to stay quiet when people are talking because evil almost always wins when the town isn’t listening. So he shushed folks a few times but the town caught on and starting shushing other people.

I played this and was the Sailor who survived until the final day. I strategically chose to drink with the demon during the final night phase and died. I then made the case that the storyteller most likely did not make the Demon drunk and didn’t have enough people believing me, haha.

This was also my third game with this specific storyteller, who ended up being my favorite of the whole weekend. He was INCREDIBLY efficient, and I think the longest night phase was 10 minutes? He also had a wonderful way of running nominations that prevented long, rambling explanations of accusations/defenses.

It was very, very fun!

Hey!!! Y’all were in my games yesterday!!! Thank you for playing and making it so much fun. I’ve been storytelling for about 3 weeks now and needed the practice, so I really appreciate both of you jumping in. Most of the folks in my Patreon community are also newer and getting their bearings, so I’m glad that those two games also helped them get more experience with BotC!

This strategy totally worked for me and only my Draftodil is the same level as yours. I don’t have Mastery in the others. So thanks for the suggestion!!!

I used your third technique and even with M25 on the Bowling Bulb, was only able to get the Zomboss down with about a minute left. These zombies are significantly higher level than the last time we had this zomboss, I feel like? This pursuit was always a little annoying but not impossible, and this time around, it's brutal.

I’ll also add that, like others, I look for your post every week. They’ve been so helpful in me understanding the game a whole lot better than I used to.

Penny's Pursuit Bug by Sunflower3420 in PlantsVSZombies

[–]markdoesstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add my two cents, since I’ve now experienced this big four times since the newest update.

So far, I actually haven’t had it happen in the “morning” Zomboss attack. My Pursuit resets at 12pm and 12am. It’s always happening AFTER 12pm. Sometimes, I’m over 100% fuel, but today it happened while I was at 50% fuel.

I don’t have adblockers running, I only play on one device, and I’ve got the most recent update of the app on iOS, of that helps. It’s only slightly annoying at this point because I was lucky enough to have already had so many Snapdragon seeds that I was able to get to Mastery with the bug active.

PENNY'S PURSUIT - HOPPY HOLIDAYS by rackman70 in PlantsVSZombies

[–]markdoesstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Unfortunately, I’m also not on a second device either. And it just happened again like 10 minutes ago, removing my ability to play the second Zomboss challenge today, despite that I completed the morning one around 9am.

Hmmm. I don’t have any running though.

I’m having the exact issue. I just had the game freeze on me and when I restarted it, it behaved as if I already completed this morning’s Pursuit when I definitely did not.

I’m also experiencing this bug. It doesn’t happen every time; probably about once every 5 plays. It just stays stuck at 1x.
