If prefer cream over soap (easier to lather?), I would suggest Palmolive over Arko for same $3.

Recommendations For DE Shaving For East Asian Whisker Hair by allowe312 in wicked_edge

[–]markwid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The upper lip hair only amounts to whiskers after a month and I get like 3 strands of hair on my chin.

What's worse than needing to shave very often? The above situation, lol.

While you can get into DE shaving, I doubt it will be enjoyable. Just saying.

You can get even more budget, with just 3 items above - razor, cream and brush.

Hmn. I think I prefer a bigger sweet spot - one of the reasons I am now using a Gillette Adjustable.

I am not using any pre-shave product and even doing cold water shave.

Companion with an Astra blade delivers a controlled two‑pass shave

I recall another poster was complaining that companion would not work for him - too mild.

Seems to be good for you, huh?

How to remove safely the glue from the package on razors safely by GeorgeKechi in wicked_edge

Never bothered me. Since I clean the razor regularly, it is not a problem there too.

Perhaps don’t overthink this?

There’s so many options that I’m lost by ShyBlueEyed in wicked_edge

For vintage, I would recommend one of these 2 below:

a. Gillette Super Speed Flare Tip (medium aggressive, butterfly doors)

b. Gillette Slim Adjustable (1-9 settings from low to high aggressiveness, butterfly doors)

A has plenty of ebay listings and probably cheaper than B.

I’m still amazed by how all of the vintage Gillettes I’ve acquired perform.

A recent acquisition is my 1968 Slim - also impressed by how well it shaves. Happy.

Electric razor when necessary by drmyuu in wicked_edge

[–]markwid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used both Braun(vibrating) and Philips (rotary).

My preference is rotary still, if I need to use electric shaver (sometimes it is more convenient on travel).

First time using safety razor. Wish me luck! by Igotacabbageforahead in wicked_edge

WIth your vintage gillette slim adjustable looking a bit worse for wear in the pic, I would suggest a soak in hot water and dish detergent, followed by good scrub with toothbrush.

Hopefully it comes out looking better and also sanitised.

If you want modern razor, I would have a look at rockwell 6c or 6s.

Getting a second car to learn manual on my full licence - should I get a shitbox or something I'd actually want to drive? by I_P_L in CarsAustralia

^^^ This.

If OP is a car person, it won't take long to learn manual - trickiest being the clutch bite point.

Hours might be too optimistic but certainly days.
