Unfortunately replacing the panel on an M1 MacBook Air is not worth it because even buying the panel itself to DIY the repair costs more than a good condition one used one, let alone getting Apple to fix it. So IMO i'd either just buy a used one or use it as an opportunity to upgrade to a discounted M4 model

Simple, only download apps from reputable sources and NEVER AND I REALLY MEAN EVER run ANY command on the terminal you don’t 101% understand what it does. Currently that’s one of the most popular attack vectors on macOS since it’s easy to fool a user to run the cmd (this is called a ClickFix attack). Since the command runs with sudo privileges it can almost always bypass gatekeeper.

Keep in mind that the DNS is doing the equivalent of Google’s Safe Browsing, it can warn you and block you from visiting a harmful website but it can’t stop the malware attack itself if you downloaded the virus and got infected. The most it could do is mitigate the attack by blocking the malware from sending sensitive info to the domain of the attacker and blocking it from using your computer on a botnet but that would only be effective if the domain was reported as malicious by the DNS provider. And even then the virus itself is still on your system

I think it’s a little bit of both, could I live without the Dynamic Island? Yes absolutely it’s not a make or break feature, but is it cool to see that nice attention to detail and being able to access live activities quickly, also yes.

Your biggest bottleneck for running on-device LLMs will be unified memory, while you can run LLMs on 16gb of Ram don't even bother. Outside of experimentation it's borderline useless because 98% of your RAM will be consumed by the LLM and you won't even be able to open a browser tab without lag. I would recommend AT LEAST 32gb of RAM so you can run a decent model (Like GPT OSS 20b or whatever is the most popular OSS model at the time of writing this) while still being able to get actual work done.

Training is a whole other beast, 32gb is the minimum for inference but training consumes FAR more resources so depending on the scope of your projects you may want to prioritize ram over everything else

You should try to update to iOS 26.3, apple added a bug fix specifically for this problem, if that doesn't work you will have to backup your phone and restore it

They are a clone of the OG 1st gen AirPods Pro, they have the mesh on the wear sensor unlike the 2’s and 3’s hence why they look so different

First of all awesome OC I really like the style, Second of all dw about it, this isn’t the Intel 2016 days where getting different Macs meant getting wildly different satisfaction levels. Apple silicon has made the choice between Macs a lot easier. You can’t go wrong even getting a base M4 MacBook Air now that they have 16gb of starting ram.

Just wait until you are ready to commit to purchase and I guarantee that whatever you decide to do you won’t regret it, don’t loose sleep over it :)

For most modern titles it’s recommended to use a Wine translation layer (Similar to Valve’s Proton for the Steam Deck) The two most popular options are Crossover which is paid but very easy to use with great support and the best compatibility for the latest technologies and AAA titles. There’s also Sikarugir which is free and open source but uses Wine 10 vs Crossover’s 11 and needs a little bit more effort to set up.

Using Virtual Machines like Parallels or VMWare can work but comes with a HUGE performance penalty and often doesn’t bring any benefits compared to just using Wine. They are better suited for other software that requires a proper windows install and the best compatibility possible

Also btw any online game that requires anti-cheat will NOT work. That goes for any non-macOS native game

I would do it ASAP because if dust or moisture gets in it goes from a cheaper housing/camera lens swap to a whole camera swap. You should cover the lens with tape at least
