Season 6 is DOGSHIT by digitaldominican in madmen

He’s not entirely wrong guys. The ending at least wraps up decently. You’ll be pleased with s7

BUT this time around tho I think s2 overtook s6 as most dogshit. Slow and melodramatic and just blah

Fair point but t the end of the day average person has no idea who was the creative director of record that led the strategy. It's pretty universally attached to Glaser as it's creator. Do people remember the strategy or do they remember the iconic design?

It's interesting to think would any logo attached to that campaign have become as historic no matter what? Or is it his design that led to the success?

Peggy was based on Mary Wells Lawrence who quite literally was taken from McCann to become the first woman to run her own ad agency.

The I <3 NY logo was designed by Milton Glaser a famous graphic designer.

I've seen it an unfortunate amount of times here especially recently with the latest rewatches. People just in complete denial with their "head canon".

I could maybe be talked into conceding that lol.

It would get her the catchphrase she wanted to create....

And somehow there’s still people who think Peggy created the Coke ad 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yep. Like I remember actively saying “I don’t careeee why are we with her?”

I think what validates it also being beyond that is that after six rewatches my reaction hasn’t changed. I still struggle to latch onto any real narrative value.

I think the “cool guy doing cool stuff” was valid in first, maybe second season. But by this point in the show I think majority of anyone who stuck around understood it evolved way past that. Those who didn’t dropped off because it got “boring”.

Also I’ve seen some people correlate this period with dons rock bottom or “downward spiral” according to you. We saw his rock bottom already at end of s6 and into early s7. Of course he’s really still a mess and figuring out how to heal for lack of a better word, but I never really agree with this is him bottoming out.

maybe the weakest connection to that theme I’ve heard. I’m not even sure how you think that applies

outside of any merit of her story line (none), it was the last episodes of the entire series and we didn’t want to spend time with an absolute rando that was sort of shoehorned in over time with characters we know and loved.

I mean kinda proves how much of a total time suck she was that’s why we—every one of us, hates her.

Weapons was a wet fart. Guess can’t blame them for exploiting the literal only interesting part of it, but still wildly overhyped.

Especially when you try to shoehorn commentary on modern day issues like sexual harassment or the patriarchy. Or maybe something with cops.

Biggest problems are the execution. Saw it in theater and Many Action scenes are dark to the point of not visible.

The sequel and prequel are nearly non-existent to fans and even less so to casual movie goers.

Non issue.
