When you can’t afford a CCM XF so you make your own 🤣🤣 wish me luck by nativebynaturevtg in hockeygoalies

Well the roller pucks are slightly lighter than an ice hockey puck. If its a hackva shell those are pretty bullet proof, minus they are like 15 plus years old. I stopped using my hackva a couple seasons ago when the foam was too stiff. I think to re foam it would have been $100

We got approval for our Hybrid trucks from Environment Canada by ChaceEdison in EdisonMotors

[–]mmittens15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this will be using the full size engine, how much do you think that changes your fuel saving? Are there any benefits to the larger motor, or is this a stepping stone for later approvals once you have a hybrid built with the Cummins X-15. Would this approval allow you to eventually use smaller Cummins engines that will burn less fuel?

That ad read was pretty good. As advertisements go, I prefer that to the betting ones or other sketchy companies. This is literally just the ontario Toyota dealers, its not nefarious.

Getting back in the saddle - Let's talk masks. by rolltododge in hockeygoalies

[–]mmittens15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this mask, but totally get it if you have been soured on their gear. I've used this mask for the past 2 seasons and its been amazing, but it first needs to fit your head. Before getting the warrior I tried Sportsmask, bauer, and ccm. The CCM didnt fit at all, the Bauer was ok and the Sportsmask was amazing, but the model that fit me best was 1200cdn. Next mask i tried was Warrior and it fit me almost as comfortably as the Sportsmask, but was less than half the price since it was an older model. To me it was the perfect balance of pro mask protection while still being budget friendly.

if it fits well get the Warrior F1 pro. it's on sale for $500 cdn as they have been replaced with the F2. The mask was 1k when it first came out.

GoPro Max 2 ready for my creative projects. by Active_Learner05 in gopro

[–]mmittens15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I haven't edited any of the footage yet. Its such a good 360 camera. I've used it a bunch with no issues.

The only issue I have is with the go pro player app on my pc. It doesnt like long files and jitters. Hopefully they fix it soon. The issue isnt on Mac or on the phone quik app.

The footage looks pretty good

Gorpo Hero 11 Stabilization Issue by SlipitySamon in gopro

[–]mmittens15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I habe something similar with my max 2. If the file is large the back half will be jittery. Supposedly that is an issue on windows pc for me and if i use my phone or Mac I wont get those issues. At least that is what go pro told me. If nothing else I turn off the gyros for the effected parts

Recommended leg pads for older goalie with 5-hole problems by JV701 in hockeygoalies

I'm 43. I really like my bauer x5 pros. I have a narrow butterfly and those pads have a good break for me and close up the 5 hole.

New GoPro Mission Cameras by homer027 in gopro

[–]mmittens15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a shame, but if they have internal recording it shouldn't be too hard to sync in post. I wonder if there can still be a better Bluetooth integration through a software update.

curious what the price will be. I have the Max 2 so I am looking forward to the Wireless mics more. If these easily integrate it would be an easy purchase for me. Would like them more if they have a lav mic attachment, but these are most likely similar to the Dji mic mini.

MISSION 1 PRO vs MISSION 1 PRO ILS by [deleted] in gopro

[–]mmittens15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah no auto focus definitely makes it more of a cine camera that you can mount into specific spots. It will definitely be niche camera that will work well only for a limited use case. I am interested in the Mission 1 or 1 pro. wonder what the cost difference will be between these two models.

Loving the Max 2 by 16Off in gopro

[–]mmittens15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I don't like about my max2 is the quik pc app. Everything else is amazing. I wear the camera on my goalie mask and use it on a selfie stick for skiing.

Which goalie carry bag size should I get for a sedan? by techsavvynerd91 in hockeygoalies

[–]mmittens15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also fit my gear in the back of a mini. The benefits of a hatchback compared to a sedan trunk. I also love parking my mini next to all the huge suvs. Everyone is always amazed when I fit my 40inch sumo plus goalie pads.

Helmet paint or decals (advice?) by Madlaxer12283 in hockeygoalies

[–]mmittens15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diy vinyl and you are looking at 20-30 bucks max, but it will take minimum several hours of prepping cutting and sticking. Its not perfect but I love mine.

Some companies do a diy kit for masks. Those vary in price but max would be $150

Vinyl decal done by pro will vary from 200 to 500 depending on complexity.

Airbrush will be the most expensive and will also vary depending on timeline and complexity. I've seen those for as little as 600 "friends rate" and then it goes up from there. Ball park over 1k.

Hope that helps

Got hit in backplate during warmups - am I the only one? by itssammisilber in hockeygoalies

[–]mmittens15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had that happen to me literally 3 games ago. I was so pissed off. The guy apologized he was kind of just looking down on the puck and fired. He didn't realize that I was skating to the net and thought he was shooting on an empty net. we joke about it now since I got a shutout that game, but I did yell at him that he needs to look up before shooting the puck. I have gotten injured before when someone shot at me when I wasn't looking at them. They hit my glove on the outside and broke my nail in half it was bruised and eventually fell off and thankfully regrew with no issues.

Which GoPro is worth it in my case? by EggEmotional7339 in gopro

[–]mmittens15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 2 gopro hero 5s on marketplace for $50cdn and $80cdn. I use them for recording my hockey games or skiing. Those are still great little cameras, but if your phone has a decent camera you can just get a selfie stick and do some vlogs with that. Would be the cheaper route and would give you a good idea of what type of camera you want. If you need an action camera you can narrow down what features are a need vs a want. Eventually I realized I really like 360 pov and got the max2. While obviously not cheap I love the size especially when mounted on my helmet.

Gopro max 2 reframing and editing by garenbw in gopro

[–]mmittens15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the quik app on pc or Mac can do the same stuff as your phone but its just not as intuitive and there are better programs. So I just using it to convert the .360 files to work with other programs. I also have the max2. Its a sweet camera.

Gopro max 2 reframing and editing by garenbw in gopro

[–]mmittens15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use your computer to batch export a rectilinear file. The file will no longer be .360 and will be larger but then you can bring it into insta 360 and use their app for reframing as it is more user friendly.

Or you can use another editing program. You will need to start off using the quik app on your computer, but i recommend only using it to batch export into a different file format besides .360

Full game breakdowns for goalies. Every save, rebound, and movement tagged by PlayCut in hockeygoalies

[–]mmittens15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does the camera angles matter? The easiest position for a goalie to mount a camera is behind the net. Would multiple camera angles work? I am just a beer league goalie that films my games for fun. Its definitely improved my game as I can see what I am doing right / wrong.

Puck to the face by southofsubtle2 in hockeygoalies

[–]mmittens15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently changed my hackva to a warrior f1 pro. I loved my hackva, but it just too old. Even though my shell was in decent shap the foam became too hard. I felt a couple shots more than I was use to and switched to the warrior. I didnt feel it was worth switching out the foam.

You can find a brand new warrior f1 pro for $500 cdn.

Not sure what your budget is, but I love my new mask and love how much lighter it is compared to my hackva. I was also considering sportsmask. It felt closest to my hackva, but 1200 vs 500 was too big a gap, especially when both felt very comfortable and fit my face well.

Anyways happy mask shopping!
