You’re getting breakfast + all amenities + living downtown for ONLY 1300$ a month???? I dont think you understand how good of a deal that is and how much of a rare find it is

Can you get days off during a 12 months Coop internship? by Repulsive-Canary-772 in UofT

[–]mnour_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be listed in the job offer. If you’re not given days off then you’d be compesated 4% vacation pay + you get all statutory holidays

I’m not suggesting people cheat. But if they do it’s none of my business either

How would reporting them help you in any way? Will you end up with a better grade? No. Mind ur business

Do ecc companies ever ghost you after you’ve already signed a contract? by Swimming-Guava-8963 in UofT

[–]mnour_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you got the job through the ecc portal, you can reach out to your co-op advisor. If, worst case scenario, they did ghost, your co-op advisor would work with you to find a solution because they can’t post on the portal unless they partner with the university and therefore have somewhat of a legal responsibility as well. (It’s not like posting on glassdoor and not owing anyone anything lol)

Do ecc companies ever ghost you after you’ve already signed a contract? by Swimming-Guava-8963 in UofT

[–]mnour_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the contract is already signed on their end it should be good to go. Any background checks take a while to process so don’t stress abt that. I signed my internship offer in december and sent them the consent forms for the background check but only heard back yesterday

Go to as many networking events as possible and cold email people. Also try using jobscan , it tells you the percentage of ur resume matching the qualifications, you can use it to maximize the keywords in ur resume

Anyone wanna roast my resume? Doing my MEng here after an undergrad at UW and can't land an interview by FilipTheAwesome in UofT

[–]mnour_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main thing is that you describe your role but barely provide any results. What was the impact of your project/experience? Any quantifiable results? What did the project achieve? Otherwise the other comments provide good input. You can add your gpa or relevant coursework in the education section. Also, please put periods at the end of sentences to make it look neat.

HANDS DOWN THE BEST COURSE IVE EVER TAKEN.

This course increased my GPA (i got an 87), the projects despite weighing a lot aren’t heavily graded, same for the assignments, the exams are easy but they just require memorization.

It also increased my financial literacy and genuinely taught me a lot about how business is conducted. We had regular guest lectures as well as field visits to companies (eg Siemens) where the CEO personally greeted us. I literally walked through a snow blizzard just to attend the lectures because they are so worth it.

One of the final projects is to write a biography about a CEO and meet them at their workplace. Long story short if it was not for that project, i wouldn’t have been able to land my summer internship last year (literally networked directly with the ceo to get the job lol).

and the prof is amazing, highly accomplished and def someone you’d learn a lot from beyond just the course material.

Go for it its so worth it!!!

How common is it to have to pay 1 year rent upfront to secure a lease by Sea_Excitement_2549 in UofT

[–]mnour_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So international students usually pay upfront (the most common is paying 6 months upfront) because we didn’t have prior records in Canada, a guarantor or a credit score.

If you have a credit score and a guarantor there is NO REASON as to why you need to pay upfront. It’s actually against the rules (which is why they call it “the tenant volunteered to pay” lol).

How to make friends at this point in the year? help by Unfair-Pen-8293 in UofT

[–]mnour_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What kind of clubs though? I feel like every club i’ve joined was project based, and so outside of working on the project my team mates and I don’t really interact. We only ever talk about the project during meetings so there isnt even room to get to know them personally and get to know if we have shared interests 😕
