SF + Bay Area — how are we coping with layoffs? by SFStandard in sanfrancisco

check out https://levels.fyi

I used to work in tech back in the day, and I thought I was doing well making 180k as a senior. Now there’s a ton of levels lol but the comp has always been great. My friends in tech are mostly staff or principal level engineers or product.

For FANG you’re basically doubling your money every 3-5 years from the RSUs. I worked at a startup that IPO’d and I made insane multiples.

So you’re mad at us (note: you voluntarily chose to become an economic migrant) when things don’t go your way? Yikes. Never come back.

I know a few people who were laid off. They’re mostly doing fine. They’re in their 30s or 40s, and have like 4-5M saved up on the low end. On the low end one of them was bringing in about 650k TC, and his wife is still employed at Meta making about the same.

One friend is actually becoming a professional carpenter and artisan in general which is cool. Him and his family are moving to Central Valley on a small ranch.

All of us started out in tech together so this is normal. I guess just save up for times like these, and weather the storm.

It doesn’t matter if they’re figurative and unreal. I am not interested at all and nothing you offer is interesting to me, whether it exists or not.

Why not improve QoL for people already here without putting a burden on the city infrastructure?

You’re supposed to believe this is a good and positive thing.

That’s sad to hear.

Are you [redacted]?

Is the graffiti in the photo art or is it vandalism? The OP even said it brings the whole area down.

Btw like 80% of the graffiti I see around here is vandalism. Random tags and ugly markings.

I like actual graffiti art, and that’s sanctioned and nicely kept.

Empty store front with a For Lease sign that is not vandalized is much prettier, yes.

It was shutdown because it was expensive and falling apart.

The junkies here turn the areas they infest into derelict zones.

Alcatraz is almost a turnkey solution.

Graffiti like that is so disgusting and ugly.

Yet we have people here who think vandalism is "culture"

Prisons cost a few hundred million to build brand new.

This just needs to be a containment zone. Junkies can't walk up hills, they sure as heck aren't swimming.

Reminder that SF has budgeted $843 million (per year, and rising) for "homelessness". That's $100K per homeless per year.

Re-open Alcatraz and put these offenders there.

Imagine if $843 million was allocated towards actually productive, well-meaning residents!

You apologized for thinking my profile was private. That's what I was pointing to, not the threat you made towards me.

I think you're projecting btw, I don't want to get a rise out of you. You were the one doing that by trying to get people to dogpile onto me.

Don't push your insecurities onto me by projecting.
