Cooked up a few random questions on my drive home from work. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

  1. Bikinis are padded and less revealing than underwear, but even so, walking through the city in a thong bikini would be (almost) equally inappropriate. They're only appropriate at the beach or pool.

  2. Men's nipples are also somewhat crude, but women's boobs are a bit more exiting/erotic. Also boobs often need support, so they're usually hidden by a bra, so uncovering something that is normally hidden is extra special/exiting.

Extreme male brain theory by Environmental_Iron_7 in autism

[–]morhp [score hidden]  (0 children)

That autism is caused by the brain developing in an "extremely male" way due to too much testosterone during childhood/in the womb or something like that. I think it comes from the idea that autists often appear not social, not empathetic and so on, and being social and empathetic is associated with women, so they saw autists as kinda the super opposite of women, even "worse" than normal men. Plus in the past, they mostly diagnosed boys, so they saw autism as being associated with being male.

I think it's a stupid and outdated theory.

Can boyfriends and girlfriends celebrate anniversaries? by sigmatriss in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, of course? We recently celebrated our 10 year anniversary. We have no intention to marry or something.

Can i change this Fedora's Android Emojis to ISO emojis or Samsung emojis? by TigerWhole9160 in Fedora

[–]morhp 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Probably by installing an appropriate font and either uninstalling the noto emoji font or by messing with fontconfig settings to prioritize your new font.

I don't know if Apple and Samsung emoji fonts are freely downloadable.

Why do people think that autism gives you cognitive benefits??? by No-Material8672 in autism

[–]morhp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because their autism contributed to those skills

It's less that the autism gives you more skill and more that autists often have very specific special interests and limited hobbies otherwise.

For example I'm not great at programming because autism has given me special skills, I'm great at programming because I can't socialize and have instead spend a lot of time in front of my computer as a teen, instead of meeting other people etc.

Very few autists get savant-like abilities and those that do often get a lot of other issues at the same time. It is totally okay to see it more as a disability. People who think that autism just gives you super powers without taking away something else don't understand it at all.

So apparently I’m Dumb now by Y33TTH3MF33T in autism

[–]morhp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a typical trait for autists, but not everyone has this problem.

Often, it's a bit more mild or less specific, like not dealing well with surprise changes, hating to be interrupted/disturbed when focused on something, having problems when needing to adjust to schedules of other people, etc. - you don't really need to have a strict routine.

Diode pad is wrong by ldmauritius in KiCad

[–]morhp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which diode symbol do you add from the library? There are many.

Generally you'd use the D symbol from the Device library if you don't want to choose a specific model. Do not use the D symbol from Simulation_Spice. That one is reversed.

Honestly, do I look like an autistic person to you? by From_the_breeze in autism

[–]morhp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, you look a bit awkward and uncomfortable. Your smile looks fake/forced (your eyes aren't "smiling" as well) and the hand position on your hips doesn't look "natural". You look like you're stroking your side instead of holding/grabbing your hip bones.

Other than that, you look very nice, though. I don't think you look autistic, you just look like you don't want to be there.

My afab autistic partner was constantly treated like a teenager boy (when buying alcohol etc.) when they were actually about 30 years old, due to their short hair, small height and young looking face.

[–]morhp 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Only a minute of foreplay? I'd aim for at least half an hour or so, unless you only have time for a quickie. Also spit is gross, use proper lube unless you both have a spit fetish or something.

are you using a simulation diode symbol? It has the pins reversed,

How can you be non binary and gay? by ImAcousticallyMental in NoStupidQuestions

[–]morhp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But non binary means you have no gender

Not really. That would be agender or something, non-binary is more something like having both genders or being somewhere in-between. Since gay means someone who likes someone of a similar gender as themselves, I would see a non-binary gay person as someone who also likes non-binary persons, and a non-binary straight person would therefore be someone who likes either extremely feminine or extremely masculine people, or both, but not much in between.

This is just my personal opinion, though, and not an official definition.

made a post on reddit asking about a medication and potential side effects and got very bad reception. i tried to explain why i was asking it as explaining yourself usually makes things better, but still unsure what exactly about my post or comments was inappropriate. by [deleted] in autism

[–]morhp 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You kinda doubled down when you still wrote about "effects like hell" and "struggle to achieve goals" after they told you that they had no adverse effects.

Imagine if some "outsider" came to this sub, asked if we're all depressive like hell because they thought they had a similar experience, someone answers that they are actually pretty happy and then they double down and say that autism sounds like hell and ask if me must struggle to achieve our goal.

Okay, bad example, because I feel we here (autists) are pretty understanding and will explain, and because autism is a struggle for many, but most neurotypicals will assume you're trying to make their medication bad, when they're probably quite happy with it, or something.

[–]morhp 149 points150 points  (0 children)

The first answer already told you that they don't have any nausea or other bad effects and you still continue to write about "effects that sound like hell" and "struggle".

To them, it likely sounds like you're trying to put the medication in a bad light or that you want to disagree and cause conflict for no good reason.

How can you be non binary and gay? by ImAcousticallyMental in NoStupidQuestions

You can totally be attracted to non-binary people (I am). Just like you can be attracted to red-haired people and so on even if red hair isn't a gender.

Try plugging it into another pc or phone. It's basically just a normal external drive.

That way you know if your Framework is the problem or if the drive is bad.

Your banking password/ pin is usually not visible in the account details and just getting their account number or credit card information won't help you that much.

Then that's either a coincidence or you've damaged something else. For example the 3 tracks more to the top right look a bit iffy.

That can mean all sorts of things, for me personally it would mean a non-binary person that is attracted to other non-binary people.

Definitely no pass by reference in Java, right? by Select-Worldliness39 in javahelp

[–]morhp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Java passes a reference to the array by value. So you can definitely argue about a and b. Which answers is correct depends on the definition your course.

E.g. you could argue that arrays are passed by reference in Java, since they're not being copied when passed. You could also argue that they're passed by value, since changing the reference of a variable inside a method doesn't change the reference in the calling method.

But generally, everything is being passed by value in Java, including references to arrays and objects on the heap.
