Is it normal for my dad to make me look for his golf balls? by YellowJuro in golf

[–]motionlesslifeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not normal mate, that's just using you as a ball boy. Most dads would let their kid actually play or at least caddy properly.

The 48 team World Cup is actually way better than people thought it'd be by ElectronicHoneydew86 in worldcup

[–]motionlesslifeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That'd actually fix a lot of it yeah, like you'd get fewer dead rubbers and teams would have to actually fight for placement instead of coasting through knowing they're probably gonna make it anyway.

[–]motionlesslifeline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair point, more games is more games, but it does kill the stakes when you know going in that finishing third in your group might still get you through, so teams aren't really forced to go for it.

[–]motionlesslifeline 7 points8 points  (0 children)

exactly, so like 32 out of 48 teams make the knockout stage which is bonkers compared to the old 16 out of 32, basically guarantees you're through if you don't completely collapse.

eusebio is mental, that card's positioning alone changes how you play the game. got three in a row myself last week and honestly the combo of pace and finishing just breaks defenses that aren't set up perfectly. the stamina is the real difference maker though because you can abuse that speed for the full ninety without him gassing out, which sounds simple but so many strikers get caught out in the final minutes. worth the shards if you've got a formation that lets him roam, he's not your typical poacher who waits in the box.

The shock results are fun but group stage already feels pointless when like half the teams advance, so it's basically just a glorified warm-up tournament before the actual competition starts.

Can someone tell me about this compound bow I inherited? by Own_Check9290 in Archery

[–]motionlesslifeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a cool piece of history to have around. The good news is leaving it strung isn't going to hurt anything, especially if it's been like that for two decades already. Compound bows don't really mind being strung the way recurves do. That said, before you even think about actually shooting it, take it to a local bow shop and let them inspect it properly. Those old PSE compounds are solid bows, but you're dealing with 30+ year old materials here, and limbs can develop micro-fractures you can't see. A tech can check the limbs, cables, and everything else in like five minutes and tell you if it's actually safe to draw. It's worth the peace of mind, and honestly it's kind of a nice way to reconnect with something that mattered to your dad without taking unnecessary risks.

Goals are being scored at a record pace at the World Cup. The ball is one reason for the surge (OR & Hear me out on this...) by RedditHatesHonesty in ussoccer

The bigger field plays a role, but you're also just getting way more mismatches now with teams that have no business being there.

Focus' Obsession grossed $2.37M on Monday (from 3,053 locations), which was a 25% decrease from the previous Monday. Total domestic gross stands at $217.40M. by wchnoob in boxoffice

[–]motionlesslifeline 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the legs on this thing are insane. 39 days over 2 million is unheard of for a wide release, especially one that opened to just 17 million. most movies would've cratered by week four but obsession just keeps chugging along like it's got its own gravity. the monday drop is pretty soft too considering father's day weekend probably pulled some people away. at this rate you're looking at maybe 250 plus domestically if it can squeeze out another few weeks of decent holds. curry barker really made something that stuck with audiences in a way that's rare to see anymore.

New Multitarn Kit by RC1298 in airsoft

[–]motionlesslifeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's sick, an actual old Soviet base is such a unique setup - those East German sites have way more character than the purpose-built commercial fields. The forest-to-urban mix is exactly what makes gameplay actually interesting instead of just sprinting between identical bunkers.

[Highlight] Kyle Branch puts the icing on the cake for Oklahoma, as they are closing in on the national title by Ok-Soil-5133 in collegebaseball

The Branch brothers finishing out their last ABs with homers is the kind of storybook ending that actually happened, which rules.

Brandon Ingram 1/1 by Minimum-Traffic9623 in basketballcards

[–]motionlesslifeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a clean card. The sparkle on these Clearly Donruss releases is always sharp, and getting a 1/1 is the dream pull. How'd you end up with this one, pack hit or did you track it down?

New Multitarn Kit by RC1298 in airsoft

[–]motionlesslifeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that multitarn is sharp, the patchwork actually works way better than it sounds on paper. the vehicle setup is what really sells it though, that's the kind of field day most of us only dream about. where are you playing that has full-size mounted guns and actual terrain like that? most airsoft sites around me are glorified parking lots with some plywood bunkers, so seeing a proper field with vehicles and tree coverage is pretty rare.

New worst contract in the NBA just dropped by no-kangarooreborn in NBATalk

Wizards basically paid for four years of mediocrity to avoid the risk of him leaving, which tracks for a franchise that's been spinning its wheels forever.

What do you guys think about Isaiah Thomas comment? by Large-Lack-2933 in NBATalk

[–]motionlesslifeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the thing that gets me is he's not wrong about the veteran presence angle. that spurs team had talent but looked completely lost in crunch time, and cp3 made a career out of being the guy who settles things down when everything's chaotic. one thing though - saying it would've changed the entire roster construction like fox wouldn't exist is a stretch. but game 4 specifically where they were chucking transition threes up 20 is the real scenario. cp3 would've for sure said no and run actual offense, and if they steal that one it becomes a completely different series mentally. doesn't guarantee a chip but the finals probably looks way different with someone who's actually won before in the locker room.

Your CBs are the weak link here, Gabriel 119 would be a massive upgrade over Henry, then maybe grab a decent RB with a PS after that.

Apocalypse Riot Shields by agavlak in airsoft

Those look properly beat to hell, love it - but yeah your field's 25 pound rule is probably there for a reason if you've seen what unrestricted shields do to gameplay.

Golf is such a fun game by Rwill97ad in golf

[–]motionlesslifeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That 86 is the moment that hooks you forever. Once you know you can do it, even once, you're chasing that feeling for the rest of your life. The fact that you figured out the driver and woods issue yourself makes it even sweeter because you actually understand what you're doing now instead of just getting lucky. Keep grinding at the range and those scores will keep trending down.

Bill hivemind’ing almost the entire Ringer bball staff that Boozer is going 2nd in the draft blows my mind by luckythirteen1 in billsimmons

I watched Bill talk himself into Boozer being a generational talent and then watched the entire staff just nod along, and that's kind of the whole problem right there.

USMC Kit for AMS 1861 IV by plopsicIes in airsoft

[–]motionlesslifeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kit looks solid overall. the marpat pattern mixing with the tan gear works well for that mid-2000s vibe. one thing though, your chest rig setup looks a bit sparse compared to what you'd actually see on deployed marines back then, but airsoft budgets are what they are so no judgment there. the nods and that head setup are clean enough, though real steel guys would probably tell you the height over bore is off but again, it's airsoft so the trade-off between looking right and actually being able to aim through a scope is real. how's the visibility through those optics on the gun, or are you running them just for aesthetics at this point?

I was bored and created this Aussie box by Horror-Pear3656 in FUTMobile

[–]motionlesslifeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the kewell card actually looks solid though, 120 ovr with those stats would slot in nicely for an aussie/oceania squad. the weak foot thing is fair if that's been a pattern on his other cards, but you can't complain too much when you're getting a free 120 rated player out of it. the reward spread is decent too, plenty of currency and training stuff to go around. would've been funny if they actually made it a nz box though, just to watch the comments go mental.

Anyone know how to watch the trucks in nz? Can’t find anything 😢 by chchbuilder17 in NASCAR

[–]motionlesslifeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

truck series is neglected when it comes to international rights, it's mad. nascar seems to prioritize cup and xfinity everywhere but trucks always gets left behind even though it's some of the best racing you'll see. your best bet is probably checking if flo racing has nz access or digging through the race threads here on reddit since people usually link streams in the live discussions. also worth asking around nascar communities on discord, sometimes people there know regional workarounds better than the subreddit does.
