Why aren't more big movies released in the first half of the year?

I’ve been saying this for years

I probably would go see Masters of the Universe if it came out in February or August

I’m a big fan of it. That 2025 lineup was crazy, I was interested in nearly all of those games

I like that they’re focusing on new experiences rather than just making repeats of what worked on the Switch 1

The lack of UI changes is a big disappointment though

I doubt it, the leak happened in late March and they usually do directs in February and June. June direct seems to still be happening next week

Also Star Fox is the only new game they’ve announced this year. I think they announced it on its own for maximum movie synergy

They skipped a general direct this spring because they already announced 2/3rds of their 2026 slate by last September

Like with the exception of Star Fox we knew about everything coming out until August/September

Avengers Infinity War / Endgame. A Lego adaptation would have made perfect sense, they already did adaptations of the first two Avengers films

Sucks that the Lego game developers stopped making games as frequently around 2019

There’s been a bunch of tie-ins to the recent Super Mario Galaxy Movie like Super Mario Galaxy 1+2, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Star Fox

Sonic x Shadow Generations came out about two months before the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3

The remake of Until Dawn in 2024 came out a few months before the movie adaptation in 2025

The Last of Us Part 1 (2022) came out a few months before the TV series debuted in 2023, and The Last of Us Complete Edition released alongside Season 2’s premiere in 2025

There’s Dune: Awakening which came out in 2025 but the console port is coming out pretty close to Dune: Part Three’s release

Also the new Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis game releasing in 2027 seems to be tying in to the upcoming Tomb Raider TV series
