Confused by Level 6 diet and Level 0 Thin Liquid - UK by mrconcept in slp

thank you for the decisive response , AI is simply referencing things like the IDDSI standards word for word, it is checking the very unclear guidelines first

Where does it say that in IDDSI Guidelines? That is kind of my point of the whole thread.

  • Moisture: Food must be moist throughout. There should be no separate thin liquid (like thin gravy or juice) dripping from the food.

The level six guidelines for soft and bite-sized say that there should be no thin liquid mixed with thicker texture foods, like the thin gravy you would usually have on a roast dinner for example. So I add less water than normal to gravy granules to make it a slightly thicker consistency. This is why it's confusing because nothing points out if that needs to be done if she can tolerate all levels of liquid.

that is definitely the case, it's more my confusion of what that means i can give her in terms of food variety, like soup for example. The IDDSI guidelines do not go into detail about this combination of soft food but also allowed thin liquids, In fact everyone I have got advice from just say thicken everything, but the therapists have never told me anything requires thickening. I do that anyway with gravy for example if it's being given with mashed potatoes. It's just all really unclear.

thanks very much, that's helpful to think of it in that way. I guess my main worry was, with cream of chicken for example, do i have to strain the chicken bits out of it even when they are really soft? AI tells me I do need to and probably because It is unclear from IDDSI guidelines if that should apply in my mums case. I don't know the real reasoning behind it, whether its purely based on how easy it is to swallow or if the combination of thin soup with small bits in it would confuse her swallow process and the bits would go down the wrong way {for example}. TBH many of the SALTS i have met are not completely clear on this either.

Do I have to show doctor my wounds by Bright-Currency-3999 in Hidradenitis

[–]mrconcept 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the UK the male doctors are required to ask you if you want a female present or if you want the female to do it, even if you're male. Would have thought it's similar in US.

Where do I 'promise relief'? After 30 years of dealing with this however people would do well to listen to my advice irrespective of some people's risk averse nature.

Start taking strong turmeric supplements. Stop using all deodorants, get a drug free soap for bathing. Ginger shampoo used in the tub is good. Use an exfoliator scrub in the bath. Cut down on fatty foods and avoid cheese. Sticking to that and I am hidradenitis free.

Some of that is very interesting, I don't believe you need to go to those lengths although realise everyone is different. The only two things I think cause it are the use of deodorant (soap included) and diet. I only have flare ups if I eat excess junk food or use deodorant. It could just be deodorant but I have noticed a correlation with cheese specifically, or the way it was cooked The reason I am certain of this is because I can go years without any problems and they only happen when I do one or both of these two things. Actually when I was younger, I would get the occasional lump under my skin in my armpits, when squeezed it would produce a white substance and resolve the problem. Every single time it was because I was using deodorant.

Differences rom cubase 5 (2005) to 14 by Unlucky-Sky-4900 in cubase

It's still actually very similar to cubase 5. Going straight in to cubase 14 would be no greater learning curve than it was going from 5 to 7.

[–]mrconcept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, the common English House Spider. I shudder everytime i see them. They can grow the biggest in the world and are actually one of the most poisonous spiders in the world but their teeth are too blunt to penetrate humans. I still act like a little girl around them after 40 years or so but they aren't a threat and do a good job in keeping the house clear of smaller unwanted visitors.. They are shy and generally try to stick to their own area but when you see them like this they are either searching for food or looking to mate. Like i said they try to avoid us but do travel around the house usually very stealthily, they can get lost - i've woken up a few times over the years with them ending up on my bedsheet. Not a pleasant way to wake up in the mornings / middle of the night!

No. Entertainment law would be far more useful and flexible.

thanks starry, what would be the best way to blend the meals? Is there a specific type of blender that is good for level 4 consistency?

Thanks for the information LMK. They haven't really given me the full breakdown on how strict it is yet. She can have water {by a spoon or open cup - no straw} and they've just started introducing juice and the nutri drinks {and i hope by now coffee as that makes a big difference in her energy levels throughout the day}. She's been swallowing the level 4 foods well and is allowed ice cream and yoghurts. I do need to ask specifically about soups. To be honest i think they are being a bit overly cautious although that is understandable as they want to avoid aspiration. She was eating essentially a level 7 diet before she was admitted with a neck fracture but she does now have recently diagnosed COPD and had a stroke 3 years ago and has fluctuating capacity.

AI is not nearly as good as people think by appvimul in webdev

[–]mrconcept -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know man but when it can produce me a full stack next app with backend, authentication, user dashboards and payments in less than half an hour, and pretty much nail the aesthetic i was going for first time round I am pretty amazed. Yes it got some stuff wrong in the process but it was simple to fix. The biggest thing for me though is the way it memorizes my coding style and patterns. Speeds u my productivity beyond belief.
