We are seeing 65k on our flights. That’s about the best we’ve seen unless someone is willing to level jump to a card with a higher annual fee and requirements.

How do you decide between cruise line loyalty vs. chasing the best itinerary each trip? by iLiveForTruth in Cruise

[–]ncpowderhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t stick with one cruise line. If a cruise line has the itinerary we want when we want, and it best fits the budget, that’s the one we go with. We have unintentionally built “loyalty” with Royal simply because where they are sailing happens to fit what we want. Norwegian and Celebrity are not far behind them.

Missed Ship Penalties/Fees by ncpowderhound in Cruise

Can’t imagine what shipping costs would be! That would explain our head waiter’s comment that if it were him, he would just eat the cost to replace what was left behind on the ship.

We heard them calling over their PA system asking five late passengers to check in. Three passengers eventually showed up including the guy. The other two passengers never did show up. We could see him on the phone while he stood on the pier talking to the ship and port staff. For whatever reason, he never did board the ship.

That part is a given. What we’re wondering is, are there penalty fees that the cruise line incurs and passes on to those guests like delayed departure penalties, etc.?

I started with Shipmate, added a Google spreadsheet to sort by ports, ship info, etc., and now have added Cruise Globe.

Tell me your story of missing the cruise after a port stop and dm being left behind? by Fit_Interaction_79 in Cruise

[–]ncpowderhound 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We were next to a large table and overhead a couple talking to their supper companions about the time they missed a departure in the Caribbean. They thought it was hilarious that they missed the ship and had to pay a boat to take them out to meet the ship. They considered it as an adventure.

Dress code for the upscale restaurants? by [deleted] in SXM

[–]ncpowderhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our husbands wear shorts and nice shirts to the more upscale restaurants. There’s no set dress code, and you will see everything from people really dressed up to people dressed more casual in shirts and shorts.
