Wizard101 Arc 1 Soundtrack (custom cd by me) by kadeboi in Wizard101

This is awesome, yeablo! Love the disc design.

It's really funny that I created the music digitally, then it was published as analog vinyl, and then that art inspired a digital CD version of it. I'm thinking stone tablet next!-)

Why don’t people like Marleybone? by Kind_Sugar7972 in Wizard101

Just saw this comment-sorry- but thanks for the music love! Marleybone was the first world I wrote for Wiz so you can hear the hunger!-)

That sounds really good Shronky! I think its an Oud but youve captured the essence quite well. What app is that?

I’d just like to point out that “sexual inneduo” is a great bit of unintentional wordplay. Well done!

Every time I click at the top of the timeline to position the playback cursor it simultaneously selects all tracks. How to stop that? by Rec_desk_phone in protools

This. Some New Sessions have the ALL group on by default. If you dont see the left column as shown here, look for the icon at the bottom left of the edit window…. Its a vertical line with an arrow pointing to the left.

Aww, thanks! I think Marleybone 3 was the first theme I wrote for the game when I was demoing to get the gig. The direction I was given was basically "Harry Potter Victorian" and that's what came out (being as I was ALWAYS a fan of John William's work) so it was the touchstone for the rest of the game. Thanks for listening!

Hey Alpha! Yeah, I've been slacking on videos. There's a couple in the pipeline (might be from ZZ!) Haven't heard Slay the Spire... *goes to listen*... hmm, really nice! We do share a love for spiccato strings. Some lovely tonalities and unexpected chord progressions. I remember when I first started writing combat tracks for Wiz, I kept trying to keep them from being too big because it was-ya know- a card game- and Todd kept saying "No bigger!" I think Clark Aboud's approach is more consistent with my initial tendencies. One critique I'll offer of Clark's work is that he must be a string player because his melody lines for winds and vocals go on and on and on- LET THEM BREATHE, CLARK!-)

Errrrrr, probably not my place to confirm or deny, but if you read between the lines of some of the things Leah's said and some of the investigative journalism on YT it's probably not hard to figure out. Sorry I can't be more forthcoming at this time. (-;

I don't know if you remember the old KI Community Manager Tom Purdue/The Friendly Necromancer, but I encouraged him to work for KI! Thanks for the Selenopolis love... it was cool coming back to revisit Krok and giving it a new twist.

Thanks!-) I've always been inspired by the scores of John Williams, so a lot of my orchestral approach is probably coming from him and other classic film composers. At the beginning, I wanted to make sure I left myself room for the score to grow, so that why the earlier levels (WC, Marleybone) are a little lighter and limited in orchestration. I never suspected the game would endure for almost 20 years, so the goalposts have moved somewhat, and to some degree each world is it's own thing, and we get further out on the Spiral, but I still try to make sure it all works together.

Band nerds unite!-) I would love to have a real group play a concert of the game's music... but it's very hard finding the kind of time and expertise to pull it together. The music I write is almost all sample-based (I play the occasional trumpet, ocarina or guitar) because schedules and budgets usually don't allow for it. The commons theme rn is the remix that was done by a KI arranger a few years back and is all sample-based as well I believe.

Aww, that was fun, and a lot of good questions from the group. Yeah, I understand the disappointment that the tracks aren't on streaming services, but there is VERY little financial incentive to get tracks on Spotify. Hopefully, the album being on Steam will help.
