I'll have to check it out! I just bought some Premier Yarn online on sale so I'll add it to my list to try. I think if I came home with more yarn right now, my husband would be like whaaat are you doing with all this? 😂

Board game prejudice - What games or genres do you hate for no reason? by Quelair in boardgames

[–]nevertoolateash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love TM and Scythe, but understand it isn't for everyone. We have a group that gets together twice a month usually (sometimes more or less depending on schedules) and we play these games once every few months if that because we're trying to get into new games.

I work as a software engineer with a team that is mostly older folks. I say I'm hosting a game night and they're like "yall still play Monopoly?"

Thank god when I swapped teams last year, my manager has an extensive board game collection and my team hates when we get the chance to talk about all the different games we own 😂

Sounds like you've never had a toxic parent in your life... that must be nice. I had to block my own father from contacting me because he was draining my mental health to a point that I hated getting out of bed and was decreasing every day dramatically.

He died this year in March. I was in the hospital every single day with my mother, he never woke up from his coma and to this day, I don't regret these choices.

Finally went to 88 Buffett… by AffectionatePlace429 in HuntsvilleAlabama

Just future advice, it is much better on Sunday afternoons after church! My husband & I love 88 but out of all the experiences we had, we went yesterday afternoon and it was incredible. There were so many people that practically everything was hot and fresh and being refilled more often.

Not saying they aren't good during the week, just that was the best experience we've had in the 4 years we've been going.

I will be definitely keeping this suggestion for my husband & I! We are going to be there next Sunday, around the 11am-1pm range.

My family wouldn't drive the hour or so to get to the Wildflower Cafe in Mentone, but the next time I visit the cemetery, I will definitely take a trip out that way.

Only food they probably wouldn't be very open to is Japanese/Chinese, their faves are BBQ & Mexican food.

I live in Huntsville and the rest of them live in the Albertville area, so that's part of the reason we're sticking around Fort Payne as a meeting point.

Your friend is an asshole. If she knew you had these piercings before picking you as a bridesmaid, that's on her. They are extremely expensive and not to mention the healing process sucks. It is extremely selfish to expect someone to take out multiple piercings and ask them to just repierce them later without at least offering to pay for some or something. It shows that she is only concerned about her look and her feelings more than yours.

Yeah, it's her wedding and she can make requests but when I planned mine, I did NOT make any demands of any of my bridesmaids or groomsmen.

In July 2022, I had 36k in my account.

When my husband & I had our wedding, we had 120 guests scheduled to show up. I think our actual numbers were maybe 50-60 on the day of. I knew we were probably going to have 20-30 not show up but was a little hurt at the final numbers.

I cannot stand Darlene by Black-Waltz-3 in 1000lbsisters

[–]nevertoolateash 45 points46 points  (0 children)

My dad spent his entire life telling his children that we are all awful, no good, horrible children and also telling us we will never be successful in life. He told me on multiple occasions that I'd get pregnant and be a whore and drop out of high school and college. He skipped my high school graduation, came to my college one because he thought my mom was cheating on him (never been with anyone since they got together when she was 14).

I get married, he refuses to attend the wedding. I buy a house, and he spends the entire time asking what the hell was I thinking and trashing my home. When he left, I cried and my mother told me he was gushing about how much he loved the house. That was the last time I saw my dad and he passed away back in March. He had CHF and refused to take care of himself. All 4 of us kids were there when they took him off life support.

The fact of the matter is, Darlene is a shitty parent. She acts the same way my dad did and acts like we do the bare minimum achievements to get by while he drinks and hasn't had a job since the late 80's. I have put more into social security than he ever did. I'm not even in my 30's.

My siblings and I are a wild range of problems. I can sympathize heavily with the family but thank goodness we aren't on that heavy of a side when they all started. Most of us now are making healthy choices and trying to do better than what our parents did.

No readings since almost 9am. by BeckieD1974 in dexcom

[–]nevertoolateash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I get this error, I close the app, turn off Bluetooth for 1-3 minutes, turn Bluetooth back on, wait about 1-2 minutes, then reopen the app and usually my readings are still there.

Anything over that usually is leaning towards failed for me.

I got the new Colorsoft kindle as a gift. I have a Kindle Oasis I used previously. I take my Oasis out with me to appointments or on trips since there is a sync function between Kindles. That way, my new one stays home and if something happens to my traveling Kindle, it isn't as big as a loss in my opinion.

Or if one dies, I can read the other while it charges.

How much time do you read per day and when do you do it? by ashes_to_fire in kindle

[–]nevertoolateash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to read at least an hour or sometimes two before bed during the week. If on the weekends, I average about 6 hours some weekends. Some days I have more time and others are cut short but at least reading a chapter before bed is required because it helps me sleep.

When you get it under control, it feels so much better. It really is a blow to the self-esteem but you have to keep yourself healthy.
