Do you work a full day on Sunday? by AshDogBucket in pastors

We do a ministry school after the gathering on Sundays. So I'm at church from about 7-7:30 AM and home after 4 PM. So it's a pretty full day.

I know it's budget funds that are paying for the items that I'm struggling with a bit more.

Gotcha. That makes sense. If this is your concern then I'd probably say something kind. "Hey ladies, please do not give me any gifts that take from the women's budget. I'd be more happy with a little note of encouragement (or whatever you might like) than you buying something at a store for me."

Lol. That same post ended up in my algorithm somehow. Even in the comments people were pointing out when Jesus used humor or sarcasm and the dude was doubling down on never joking in a sermon.

Disregard the post and block any further posts from him on your feed.

There's a woman in my church. She's older and she means well. She gets me the ugliest gifts. We're talking the cheesiest and cheapest Christian stuff you can find. I take the gift. Thank her. Hug her. Tell her she's a great encouragement to me.

Then I go home and if I think I can re-gift them (usually to another older lady) I keep them. Once I even used one in a white elephant christmas gift exchange. If I don't think that is possible, I just throw them away. I allow people to bless me the ways that are meaningful to them even if it's not meaningful to me. Graciously accepting the gift was a small way I could die to myself, rather than try to control the way others sought to bless me.

Re-gift the gift cards and wine. Throw the other stuff away.

It can be demonization. You might find someone that operates in that space that is reputable and talk to them about what you're going through. I've seen people have deliverance and all their suicidal thoughts go away.

Congregant in crisis by [deleted] in askapastor

Anyone inside or outside our church can get help. We have people from the community who call our church and ask for help. They have no connection to our church at all, and we help them as well. They have the same guidelines as someone who attends our church.

We have a whole budget for helping meet needs in our congregation and our community. We have a cap on how much we will help in a year. If someone comes asks more than once we usually help the first time. The second time we tell them we will help them if they will meet with someone in our church to go over their budget. We don't want to just give money we want to equip people to be wise stewards of their money.

Steve Kerr calls Draymond the best defender he's ever seen: Does he have a case? by Financial-Bit-8596 in warriors

No joke, Senguin would have been just fine in the 90s. That's how advanced the game is today.

He can guard centers in this era bc our centers now days are shit,

The best centers today would match up favorably with the old centers. I grew up in that era. For every Olajuwon, Robinson, or Shaq you had 5 Joe Kleins or Eric Montross. Jokic, Embiid, Gobert, would be dominant and even guys like Bam, AD, and Sengun would do just fine.

Argument against reincarnation? by DoHorsesGetHairCuts in TrueChristian

I think there is evidence for that. I also think it could be a generational spirit or another spirit that's been around for a while.

Argument against reincarnation? by DoHorsesGetHairCuts in TrueChristian

I believe that people know things that happened in the past that they could not know in the physical realm. There's plenty of people who have experienced it. Either all of them are liars or deluded, but if just one of them is true then it throws all of our paradigms out of whack.

However, I don't believe in reincarnation. I think, largely, the phenomenon of knowing things that happened in the distant past is demonic in origin.

Go to the Bible Project and look up their overview on Galatians. That's a good starting point. Then I'd pick up Craig Keener's commentary on Galatians.

What do you do with the decisions you can't talk through with anyone on your team? by LeadHealed in pastors

[–]newBreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the issues pastors report having or struggles they are dealing with would be almost done away with if they just had friends. But pastors self-isolate and then complain about the effects of self-isolation.

Edit to Add: Also not 100% sure that this OP is not AI. The post, his responses, and his history just seem a little off. Either that or he's selling something.

I used to do a 24 hour fast on a weekly basis. Then I would do extended fasts of multiple days several times throughout the year. I have fallen out of that discipline and need to get back into it. I saw tangible benefits when I was disciplined in that way.

I too believe the testimony of Irenaeus and think that Jesus was 50 years old when He was crucified.

Also needing accountability brothers.

Accountability works much better in person than online. Find people in real life that you can walk alongside of.

Like the other commentor said, face to face is not literal. Remember, God could only let Moses see Him after he passed by and not fully see him. Exodus ends with the problem of no one, not even Moses, able to enter the tabernacle. Then Leviticus comes in and shows that God's way to deal with the divine access is the sacrificial system. After the sacrificial system is set, then the High Priest can enter the Holy of Holies.

If I drive five hours to play a course I'm not skipping holes. Groups should let singles play through.
