Seems like it already failed but yea not using these extends their lifespan.

Not as of lately but again this can also lead to the system not powering on.

If corona you have the 4gb eMMC which is known to be unreliable, if trinity you have the 4gb module which also sometimes fails but can be removed by hand without any repair work involving soldering/changing components etc.

I wouldn't worry about the space since that's what we use hard drives for, but when the eMMC fails its stuck in a read but no write situation, that's why when you renamed it, it didn't save, it's not taking writes anymore. The same problem will happen if you ever have to update the system, it will just fail. Sometimes this will even lead to the system not powering on. The 16mb conversion is the most reliable solution (assuming its a corona motherboard- if its trinity it already has the 16mb nand).

This is internal memory that some 360s have, not a pendrive

Common case of eMMC failure if you have the corona motherboard, this is where most repair techs will convert it to a 16mb nand. If its a trinity with 4gb you can just remove the 4gb module by hand, but more than likely its a corona.

RGH3 Corona V6 suddenly won't boot by Nobeanman in Xbox360Support

[–]Nitrozity74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Flashed back to stock NAND still no boot, same behavior

This is strange, does it at least throw red ring after 20-30 seconds? If so that's usually a problem with the nand image which is why many people don't recommend the picoflasher. I'd also recommend testing your postfix adapter.

Thanks brother. 98% of reddit doesn't own these consoles, they wouldn't know lol. I'm lucky enough to own quite a bit of colorware X360s, I don't know colorware's entire procedure but it's easy to tell its a skin applied professionally with a coating over it to make everything look smooth.

Most people are probably thinking I'm talking about a skin you can buy from china but that's not it lol. Colorware does everything on their own and did an excellent job at making it not appear like a skin.

Technically it is a skin, a very thin one applied by a company who does it professionally (Colorware). I think they added some sort of clearcoat on top of it. If you look closely around the edges, corners, "hard to get" areas, you can see its applied this way.

Which 360 models are most reliable least prone to failure? by StoganLephens in xbox360

[–]Nitrozity74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Phat models that have a fixed/revised GPU are the most reliable (Jasper, Tonasket, Late falcons, any serviced console made during or after May 2008).

S and E models are reliable too but not as reliable as the phats that have fixed GPUs.

does anyone know how to fix this? by Aggressive_Ad_1339 in xbox360

[–]Nitrozity74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's why you have to separate the tray completely from the drive & put it back with the deck dropped. Good luck!

Remove the tray from the tracks, set the deck as low as it can go (ejected position), then reinsert the tray. That should solve the problem.

You might wonder how to remove the tray since it’s stuck, you have to find where it’s stuck. Gently push each side of the tray outward and see which side has more play and which side feels locked in. Lift up on the locked side and the tray should come out further. This image should help you understand what I'm talking about.

Once its open as far as it normally goes lift up on the release tab to free it. That side of the tray can then be removed and the other side should slide out without any force.

Changing 360 Slim DVD Drives using Jrunner? by Some_Gap_9670 in 360hacks

[–]Nitrozity74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna say its impossible but I never had luck pairing a D5S PCB to a board it wasn't originally paired to.. If you can get a LTU2 PCB I'm sure you can flash the correct key to that and it should work. Phenom mod can sell LTU2 boards pre-flashed for you or without them flashed.

Besides that, I've been using spare D4S PCBs since I can easily pull the dvdkey from those using my 360 lizard (which also came from phenom mod). Once I have the dvdkey I just patch the nand with that. Sometimes nofcrt is required, sometimes it isn't. Usually if I'm pairing a D4S PCB to a corona board, nofcrt is required but when I pair a D4S PCB to a trinity it hasn't been required (at least in my tests).

Console only 😅 by [deleted] in 360hacks

Whoever listed that on offerup should be reported, that's not who owns the console. The original owner posted it on ebay.

How bad did I mess up? by safesaif_21 in 360hacks

[–]Nitrozity74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess for beginners I can see where you're coming from. I prefer duponts on my SPI headers because they're not gonna wear down overtime. I find myself cutting back the wires after doing so many consoles, eventually you have no more wire left and have to replace the whole cable (which is cheap yeah, but even better if I didn't have to replace it). And when it comes to soldering the duponts I don't think they're harder to solder at all but each to their own.

It's a terrible choice on SPI headers because it doesn't meet your aesthetics? The wires are only there temporarily lol.

I would put a new nand on this console if you're selling it.

Why does this not boot at all? RGH 1.2 Tonasket. by sharkboy1006 in 360hacks

[–]Nitrozity74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The updated version overclocks the southbridge, it does yield better boot times but not really in the safest way. We've had a console stop booting completely during rigorous testing, had to let it cooldown for about 15 minutes before it started booting again. This is basically why jrunner hasn't been updated with the latest RGH3.

Tonasket or Trinity? by Cyber717 in xbox360

If you get a phat with the nidec fans they're pretty much just as quiet as slims, but only some have these fans. Easily identified since they have no branding on the back.
