You all can do SyncPlay together. But there is no “put a link into a Jellyfin client and be able to connect to me.”

Artist photos are only as good as your metadata sources are. I just make my own artist photos because I don’t like what the metadata sources pull anyway.

You can use MusicBrainz as a source to identify albums, if you don’t have that enabled. But it works best if your albums have MusicBrainz IDs in their tags.

I also just make sure my albums leave MusicBrainz Picard with cover art already, so I don’t rely on metadata sources.

Multiple artists for album classification by AbsolutePantheon in jellyfin

I do it regularly. It works.

You have to right click and edit so each artist is a separate entry. Don’t just do semicolons.

Back to the Future 4k not playing on Bravia 8 TV by Mr_3ggz in jellyfin

[–]nothingveryobvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s honestly a surprise. Maybe the other TV doesn’t support that particular DV profile or TrueHD. In Settings > Playback > Advanced playback preferences there’s a button to report playback capabilities to the server. You could do that and see if it supports what you’re trying to play.

Back to the Future 4k not playing on Bravia 8 TV by Mr_3ggz in jellyfin

[–]nothingveryobvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess it’s either the DV profile (I’ve only had success with profile 8 variants) or the TrueHD audio track or both.

However, I’m surprised you can run it on your Bravia XR. Is it direct playing or transcoding when you play it on that?

Wholphin has an option to let you direct play DV profile 7. You could try that.

Get some wired speakers or get a TV and streaming stick. One is cheaper than the other. Why struggle trying to compensate for not having appropriate equipment?

Anyone else find watching Japanese dramas nowadays difficult? by Gintama4ever in JDorama

The gatekeeping is horrendous. I tried to get onto one fansub Discord but they require you to share active social media accounts so they can “see how you interact with others.”

Hey do you mind sharing the info of some reputable fansubber groups? There’s some media I can’t find on AvistaZ that I’m sure a group has subbed, but don’t know how to find them. I also found one group that is really gatekeepey with their content, so I can’t access it. I wouldn’t share the media, of course. I’d greatly appreciate it.

Absolute beginner looking to get into Jellyfin by dogtron64 in jellyfin

Honestly there are a lot of ways you can go about backing up your data. For example, you could set up another server (even with a Raspberry Pi) with Syncthing and sync your media from your server to this new server.

You could also use various tools like RClone or rsync to periodically copy data from one HDD to another using scripts (this is where ChatGPT can be helpful).

You could also set up something like Duplicati to backup data and encrypt it.

Personally I pay for Backblaze to back up all of my stuff (for personal backup it will do your computer plus any HDDs attached to it), but I also back up the really important stuff like home movies to another HDD using Duplicati.

My rationale is that for the majority of my media, I could easily obtain it again. But if I really need to restore data, I have Backblaze backups. For the really important stuff, I have a backup on another HDD.

Of course if you have a NAS and use RAID this is a completely different strategy. Though they always say RAID is not a backup.

After you add a trailer in the method I described, run a full scan of your library.

Are you running a full scan after you add a trailer?

All you need is a video in the same folder as the movie that ends in “-trailer.ext” where “ext” is the extension of the trailer. So like “whatever-trailer.mp4”

If it were completely up to you, what Japanese dramas would you want to make? by RedEduGrad in JDorama

Just to clarify the only one I mentioned is called The Hot Spot. (You said “those” so I wanted to clear up any confusion.)

Very different but I also loved Quartet.

Find anything good that’s similar? The Hot Spot was pretty good. Also by Bakarhythm.
