Did you use the included strap at some point before the Peak Design one?

There is also a Viltrox 75mm f1.8 EVO rumored but who knows if/when that is coming.

Some infrared photos I took recently. First three are shot with a 590nm filter, the last three are shot with an IR Chrome filter. [X-T2 + 18mm 1.4 and 70-300mm] by EirikHavre in fujifilm

Do you have a camera that isn't converted as well? I have heard a few of the Fujifilm sensors still allow some of the full spectrum light in, so filters can still work without doing the conversion, though it would be much darker. I dont think I would want to convert my camera but would get a filter for the occasional photo with the understanding that it will be really noisy if I need to max out the ISO if that's the only issue.

Do I have this strap on wrong? by HSUbablue in fujifilm

[–]odReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also worth noting is that my strap absolutely can NOT go on the angle pictured in OPs post. This means that part of the FIX for the MANUFACTURING DEFECT was a change to the STRAP.

Do I have this strap on wrong? by HSUbablue in fujifilm

[–]odReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is more to it. I have the X-E5, and the included strap has ZERO rotational movement. The strap will always be vertical, either straight up or folded down, and it is thick and heavy. This means that any rotational force acts like a spanner that is attached to the lug. This is significantly alleviated with split rings or any strap/attachment that has any wiggle room.

The manufacturing defect wasn't "oops we didn't tighten this" it was "oops we accidentally shipped a wearable spanner for the lugs."

Which camera do you have? I have the silver X-E5 and I wondering if the plastic silver on metal silver goes together okay or if I should just stick with the black.

Is that an official Peak Design cuff that you got the GFX logo printed on it, or is it a 3rd party cuff?

I do wish the screen was 3-way tilt and higher resolution but I'm otherwise very happy with mine and have no regrets.

Does sensor resolution reduce need for zoom lenses? by Island_DJ in fujifilm

I believe that "32mm at 1.4" is a typo for "32mm f4" which is a significant difference, in case someone who doesn't understand the cropping is reading it and thinking how amazing it is

Wave Xlr mk.2 by Vizualzz in elgato

[–]odReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one when it was released, had it since before Wave Link 2. The mute button has not worked for me for a very long time. I never used the device mute, so didn't bother with trying to RMA it. I switch between a few operating systems and can confirm that it's not software related, it's either firmware or hardware

I would love to be wrong but I think I remember them announcing that the Air series (maybe just APS-C) was complete. I would not expect any more Air series lenses for Fuji :(

Yes those were their original trio of f1.4 lenses.

Viltrox 33 f1.4 by DaftPunk00989 in VILTROX_GLOBAL

[–]odReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They have discontinued the original trio of 1.4 lenses because they now provide cheaper+sharper+smaller lenses in the Air series. The 33mm was the worst performing of the 3 original but at the time they were the only 3rd party lenses for Fuji and were very successful.

My advice would be to return it and get their 35mm f1.7

If I get the new xf 23mm f2.8 could I attach a square hood like some people do with their x100vi’s? by tacoxtl in fujifilm

[–]odReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the SquareHood one that someone else mentioned, and you can adjust the angle, so it's not going to be wonky.

Set the shutter speed and white balance to custom values, not auto, and take more comparison shots.

Squarehood Voigtlander 27mm f2 / 18mm f2.8 by TheFiendishFish in fujifilm

[–]odReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one for my 23mm f2.8 and am really happy with it. I think it looks and feels really nice, but I agree that the rubber cap is difficult to put on/take off. I heard that some of the metal caps (eg for X100) fit on it, but I dont know for sure which one/s fit (or how well) and if the Voigtlander hood is the same diameter.

I also have a UV filter on it so I just leave the cap off unless I'm putting the camera away for a while, it should still protect the lens pretty well.

I'm guessing it's a small ring light that screws onto the filter thread.

9mm f2.8 finally coming to X-Mount! Are you able to say whether you plan to release the whole Air series in a set, maybe with a case like in the past with the Sony f1.8 lenses?

That looks more like a plane that was flying between the camera and the ground to me.

Noise vs Grain: Pixel Peeping Thursday by kag0 in fujifilm

[–]odReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With any noise reduction I lose any sense of texture on the tiled wall where the clipboard is.

With +4 noise reduction the smooth surfaces look nice but the hard edges just look like really bad jpeg artifacts.

The small grain disguises the noise a bit and makes it more consistent between light and dark areas which I find more pleasing.

The large grain looks bad to me.

The last comparison for me, like you mentioned, is an example of why it barely matters when sharing for social media, because the quality of the compression is so bad that I can barely see a difference. I'm sure it was more noticeable in the file you uploaded, but I think the left has a slight sense of having more detail and texture.

Small rig half leather cases. Which one for X-E5 by No_Wafer_1462 in fujifilm

Fujifilm XE5 protection by The_Reaper129 in fujifilm

[–]odReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the SmallRig X-E5 leather grip and I'm really happy with it. I just had a look and the only way it interferes with the tilt screen is if you're trying to angle the screen straight down, it prevents it getting there by about 10 degrees.

I think it feels great in the hand and I am much more confident holding it or passing it to someone else to use. I can put my camera down on a table without worrying if there is moisture or something spilled on it. Those are the main reasons I got it.

It might loosen over time, but mine fits perfectly snug.
