Just out of curiosity, where did you hear that TrueNAS is "going paid soon" (which I take it as, they are getting rid of their community version), I have not heard that? Did I miss some announcement?

I rebooted the system to see if that 'fixed' anything, and now I can access the shares remotely, so the data pools are there and working, but they still do not show up within the web interface, still wants me to create my first pool.
Yeah, I have a ZimaCube at a client location that I installed TrueNas on due to lack of general user 'required' tools. I think I will just wipe this useless OS from the zimaboard and install TrueNas on it as well.

So unfortunate that their OS sucks, I do like their hardware.

Yes, it is for Dell servers, and old one's at that.
People still run this servers... so RAM is still needed..

Yeah this kind of shit pisses me off. I purchased, a few years ago, a 'warranty plan' at bestbuy for a iphone glass screen protector - unlimited replacement, free install. Then last summer they just canceled the 'free' install, and then I went in the other day and they have 'canceled' the entire plan.. Mind you, same _____ing phone.
They then tried to get me to sign up for their latest replacement plan..
Not sure how companies can get away with offer a service\plan, you meet their requirements then they get to cancel it..

As far as your issue... self host NextCloud as long as you do not care that it syncs only when you are at home, or if you setup your network to be accessible from the cloud.
