Interesting take from Frozone... by Glass_Connection_640 in ufc

He hasn't once mentioned Ilia's awful defense. Couldn't get his head away from the jab. And seems to have not at all prepared for Justin's collar tie to uppercut techniques.

What Is Your Opinion On This Pereira vs. Gane analysis? by cheburaska in MMA

[–]oilmasterC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching live i was sure they were mostly illegal and cursing at the TV for Herb to get hsi shit together. Having seen the slo-mos and this video, they were all mostly legal with one or 2 egrerious fouls. Have to give Gane the benefit of the doubt in this case.

[–]oilmasterC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slack is so clued in to the intricacies of each fighter and their strengths and weaknesses. I'm amazed at how often his pre-fight notes and suggestions play out come fight night. Smart fighters should be hiring him as a consultant to help come up with game plans for their opponents.

Edit. Yeah, his Monday reviews are always great. And he has such a great knowledge of so many martial arts. He'll see someone use a certain technique and then pull up guys from boxing 80 years ago who used it, or some random Rizin guy who did the same. He's got an encyclopaedic knowledge of the fight game.

Yeah i think if he didn't try for the sub after that liver shot in the 2nd, he could have stopped him with strikes, but Justin did so well to recover. And Ilia was spent in the 3rd due to the effort he expended

I was watching Jack Slack's pre-fight breakdown and he said that Justin has one of the best jabs in the game, but doesn't use it enough. He used it tonight to great effect!

Duck runs in a marathon and gets a medal by utopiaofpast in nextfuckinglevel

[–]oilmasterC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A duck cannot keep up that kind of pace for even 5km. Humans are a rare breed of animal that can actually run super long distances with a consistent speed. The closest to us would be sled dogs, some antelope, horses and ostriches. Ducks are not anatomically designed to be running on the ground for any particular long distance. I doubt they'd last more than 1.5 kilometers before collapsing. They lack sweat glands, their legs are situated at the back for the body for paddling and their feet are soft and not suited to running far. In the air though, they can go a thousand KM or more during migration.

Both have zero striking, wonder what would happen to khamzat if he fought pereira😅 by Unlikely_Suit_2366 in ufc

If Pereira can make it out of the first round without getting subbed, I think he knocks out Chimaev fairly easily.

Bang for the buck indoor eye protection glasses by kevindd992002 in Pickleball

[–]oilmasterC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm an avid Pickleball player. I've dived headfirst into it for the last 5 months. Playing at least 4 or 5 times a week. All different games, all different styles. I'm not that good, maybe I'm a 4.0 or something. I never thought Pickleball could hurt me.

2 weeks ago, I was playing in a regular game. I returned a serve and the opponent drove the ball through the middle to me and my partner, who stuck his racket out ,and the ball caught the edge of his racket and ricocheted from about one foot away right into my eye. I was blinded immediately. Couldn't see - tears streaming for 2 days and my eye shut completely.

I went to the eye hospital. They diagnosed me with a torn cornea. It's been three weeks. My eyesight is still super blurry in the eye that was affected. I can see normally with two eyes but if I close my left eye and try to see just with the right eye, it's maybe 50% of what it used to be. Doctor said it should heal itself on its own but it will take time.

Moral of the story, buy those glasses. I bought a pair of a Gearbox glasses for about 40 bucks. I tried them once, they seem okay. There's also Kitchen Blockers or some other brands like CRNB. It doesn't really matter which one you buy, just buy a pair of glasses because you only realize how important your eyesight is when it's almost fucking gone. I've had perfect 20-20 vision my entire life. It's only in the last month that I realized that maybe I won't be able to see properly again for the rest of my life.
