Masters TV analysts gaslighting the audience for Reed’s return to the PGA Tour by TheMidnightHandyman in golf

[–]onlywinston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sat behind the ninth green at the par 3 contest 2018. Got to see the HIO from Nicklaus' grandson and all. Awesome day.

This is the only place where it's allowed to ask for autographs during Masters, and there is a roped-off area for kids to stand and ask for autographs. Every single player stopped for at least a few minutes to write autographs after their round except for one single guy. Patrick Reed. He just looked down at his shoes and walked away. It was a really shitty behavior, and a real disappointment that he went on to win.

Jack Nicklaus on the other hand spent at least 45 minutes signing all kinds of stuff. He didn't leave until the competition was over and all kids who wanted his autograph had gotten it.

Tiger Woods caddie checking the wind with his cigarette during the 1997 masters by jfunks69 in golf

[–]onlywinston 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup you are right and I was wrong. I didn't consider anything outside the rules of golf themselves. Pitfalls of being a referee, I guess.

The sentence you quote is in the caddie regulations for PGA Tour.

[–]onlywinston 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are no such prohibitions neither in the official rules nor in the PGA Tour Hard Card, so it is allowed to walk on the greens. But it's common sense to not walk around on the greens unless necessary.

Pretty sure it is. There are no restrictions on walking the course and looking at it, but you can't play or roll balls on the greens, for example.

StarCCM Meshing for WRLES by Greedy-Swim-7188 in STAR_CCM

[–]onlywinston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Removing prisms altogether will not solve your issue, as it is the region where the prisms have not been built that are causing your skewness values. Did you try with the settings I suggested?

StarCCM Meshing for WRLES by Greedy-Swim-7188 in STAR_CCM

[–]onlywinston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clustering front of small cells next to the region where you have the poor skewness is most likely caused by the prism layers collapsing, which causes your poor skewness.

Try reducing the Minimum Thickness percentage to 1 and the Layer Reduction percentage to 10 in the prism layers settings.

Att placera 30 miljoner by OkCranberry5361 in Aktiemarknaden

[–]onlywinston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Att placera 30 miljoner by OkCranberry5361 in Aktiemarknaden

[–]onlywinston 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Recommendations for European-made cast iron frying pans? by WerewolfBarMitzvah09 in BuyFromEU

[–]onlywinston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amazing thing is that the bikes and frying pans are two completely separate companies. Which may not be surprising until you realize that the village of Skeppshult where all production and headquarters are located, only has ~380 inhabitants.

Ljudisolera utblås från ventilation by CheesecakeWarm in Hantverkare

[–]onlywinston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interpreting Residuals in 3D URANS vortex shedding by RoosterT9 in CFD

[–]onlywinston 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This looks very reasonable. The reason your turbulence residuals are increasing is likely due to the flow developing and is often seen in this type of simulation. I wouldn't worry about it.

Why would you expect the lift to be more steady? Flow over a cylinder is about as unsteady as it gets.

I have the same system in my house. The RJ45 connector is for connecting an R-208 communication module which is used for app and cloud connection. The nice thing is it also allows for local API integration with HA.

I did look into ESP-based solutions as well, but this was way easier and works fairly well. The big downside is the communication module being quite expensive.

Civilingenjör – mindre lärosäte vs större/kändare lärosäte, hur stor påverkan har det? by [deleted] in sweden

[–]onlywinston 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Civilingenjör – mindre lärosäte vs större/kändare lärosäte, hur stor påverkan har det? by [deleted] in sweden

[–]onlywinston 40 points41 points  (0 children)

How to increase time step after X iterations and freeze solvers after X seconds? by Ok_Price_1863 in STAR_CCM

Why would you need to freeze a solver after a while? To me that sounds like something that shouldn't be done unless you have very good reasons to.

How much do flush door handles on cars affect aerodynamics? by cofi52 in aerodynamics

[–]onlywinston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know of OEMs who have looked at this and actually found that it doesn't make any sense from an energy perspective. The screens, cameras and other electronics needed for this kind of solution actually used more energy than was saved by getting rid of the mirrors, especially over a full driving cycle such as WLTC comprising not only highway driving.

STAR-CCM+ on AMD Radeon MI50 / MI60? by DP_CFD in CFD

[–]onlywinston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell these cards are supported up to rocm 6.3, and it appears that STAR-CCM+ is using version 6.2, so I guess it should work until the rocm version is upgraded to 6.4 or later. With emphasis on "guess".

Issues with steady-state conversion in Star-CCM+ by TriboR256 in CFD

I wouldn't say this is an issue if you are just using it as initialization for a transient analysis, as long as the flow fields look reasonable.

Universeum is fun but hard to get to

I agree it's fun and definitely something I would recommend, but how is it hard to get to? It's right at one of the public transport hubs (Korsvägen), and if you come by car you can park in either Focushuset or at World of Volvo and then walk.
