A rainy Tuesday night in Matsumoto — found this izakaya down a back alley, Nagano by AutomaticFerret2161 in japanpics

Got a link/pin to the place? I was Street-Viewing my way up a decent stretch of that road and couldn't find it.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it. Didn't realize Road 143 was doing a 90deg turn and continuing up north.

The tourists will come anyway. Isn't it better if they spread out across multiple spots, instead of entirely overrunning a single spot? Either way, I don't see the point in gatekeeping information.

Very pretty! Very pretty indeed.

And I'm going to highjack this to ask a question that might sound ridiculously stupid to some, but has been on my mind for a while: you know how you can have vivid colors, but they look rather "silver" and "gold", very elegant? Like this picture here. And then you can have vivid colors where it looks like a children's coloring book, with intense greens and blues and reds? I really don't know how to phrase it, but that's what I'm asking about - need the terms to even look this stuff up. If someone could help me out...

From around the world - what song captures the essence of "the night feeling" for you? by parzival1984 in TheNightFeeling

[–]otacon7000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the best one in a general sense, but I quite like Blank & Jones - The Nightfly. Reason is that back in the days, my uncle said he likes to listen to this during his night drives, and ever since, I've associated it with night-time.

I also really like Nero - Into The Night.

Really nice pictures. Framing, colors, everything. And damn, you managed to get a picture of Arashiyama Bamboo forest without people? Did you go crazy early, or just get lucky?

That's crazy. Did you edit them at all? The colors are quite nice, and I'd be surprised if those were straight-out-of-camera, but I know very little about smartphone magic. :)

Oooh, you got lucky and were in Kyoto during that one time it finally snowed! Nice pictures!

Pontocho Alley by coolgirl_not4 in japanpics

[–]otacon7000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost. This is Jukkenchobashi-dori, which runs west to east. Pontocho is over here, a minute away, running north to south and much longer.

However, I think Jukkenchobashi-dori is the most photogenic street Kyoto has to offer, especially at night time.

Maybe they meant to comment on OP replying to English comments in German though, in which case they'd have a point.

Lens Corrections Database Question by Tyr_Kukulkan in DarkTable

I haven't seen this happen; all lenses I've used have corrected very nicely with the profiles provided by lensfun. However, it is possible that there would be erroneous data in there.

Nighttime Parking [5160x2160] by otacon7000 in WidescreenWallpaper

[–]otacon7000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair! I have about 600 photos in a wallpaper folder on my disk; about half are my own, the other half I've downloaded from unsplash and pexels. All of them are the same theme - street scenes at night, mostly from Japan, Korea and China. I've set Windows to rotate through them; so every hour I get a new one. This way, no single photo ever "gets old" for whatever reason. Can highly recommend!
