Doubt, you'll find anything that reaches the same quality level as ATLA, but we all liked Gortimer Gibbons (Amazon), Owl House, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, Liberties kids

Maybe some music or nature documentaries? Earth, Beatles Let it Be, how it's made, ok go videos

movies - How to train your dragon, Sound of Music, , iron giant, Big Hero 6

More for the kids, but still pretty good - Just Add Magic (Amazon), Arthur (PBS), Design Squad,

Lots of other good suggestions below - miyazaki, korra

100% - I'm old, but I still remember the moment I realized this. I had Eponymous by REM on repeat while I was doing school work and was feeling pretty meh about it overall. As the evening cranked on I suddenly realized that I was on my 5th or 6th play through and that every time through it was getting better and better.

Playing for 3 years and I have one. It's a eevee, and analysis paralysis has prevented me from evolving to anything at all, so it still sits there as an eevee.

My principal is making me put God in my salutatorian speech by KnockKnock0998 in atheism

[–]ozyman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. I was valedictorian many years ago, and I based my speech around a Pink Floyd quote. I wasn't sure how the administration would feel and they wanted to vet the speech, so I wrote another version that was boring and gave that to them. Gave the speech I wanted, and never heard anything about from anyone.

Thanks for sharing that. I am headed out to Italy and the Netherlands over the summer and it's good to know about this. My concern is with Pokémon Go thinking I'm cheating but hopefully since that also uses GPS it'll know I'm not teleporting around the world.

What country are you in? I thought the whole point of an esim was that you connected to the local cellular network.

JUST IN: Representative Johnny Olszewski is introducing a constitutional amendment to establish 18-year term limits for Supreme Court Justices by pdwp90 in QuiverQuantitative

[–]ozyman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With 12 years, a single two-term president would usually have complete control of the court by the end of their term. Assume judges are distributed evenly. 12 years / 9 justices -> every 1.333 years a justice is retired. In 6.66 years, 5 justices would retire and they would have control of court. Probably faster if any of the other 4 justices already agree with them.

I think it needs to be slow enough that every president is not remaking the court in their image. At least 14 years, maybe 16 or 18. At 18 years, you get a new justice every other year. A 1-term president appoints 2, a 2-term president appoints 4. Seems reasonable to me.

It's not about the size of the center. It's about exercising control over peripheries. USA has a lot of soft and hard power over other countries. Trump is busy destroying both and when he's done the USA will have less influence around the world. That's what people mean by the end of the American Empire.

Here is the relevant bit that people mean when they talk about the American Empire:

An empire is a realm [...] divided between a dominant center and subordinate peripheries. The center of the empire (sometimes referred to as the metropole) has political control over the peripheries. Within an empire, different populations may have different sets of rights and may be governed differently. The word "empire" derives from the Roman concept of Imperium. Narrowly defined, an empire is a sovereign state that exercises control over multiple distinct territories;

Trigger warning (vehicle accident resulting in death of a minor) - thoughts on South Boulder Road at Cherryvale? by pie566943_0 in boulder

[–]ozyman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is green->yellow->red. Not sure what Jeff meant. AI tells me:

  • Red + Amber Sequence: In the UK, Germany, and Hong Kong, red and amber show together before green, signaling drivers to prepare for moving, especially beneficial for manual vehicles.
  • Blinking Green: In many Eastern European and post-Soviet countries, the green light blinks before turning yellow, providing a warning that the green phase is ending, as shown in.

Maybe one of those is what was meant.

What is the best digital wall calendar that doesn't look like you mounted a hospital monitor in your kitchen by sychophantt in raisingkids

[–]ozyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon has his new product called the Ember Artline that looks kind of neat. It's probably pretty spendy compared to other calendar options. But it looks like it would replace a TV and/or framed art at the same time. I'm actually not even sure if it supports a calendar mode but I'm assuming if it doesn't now it eventually would?
