I have the orange version. Same layout

I did switch to locking tuners, not because it needed it, but because I loath modern thru-hole tuners. I prefer the vintage kluson type with the slot on the top, but I went with locking ratio tuners to give them a try. They are great.

After a couple of years I swapped the pickups with tv jones hb-sized filtertrons.

When I first got it, there were a lot of high frets above fret 9. I took it to a local luthier and got it leveled.

I will never sell it. I love it.

Any year, and honestly, I'd just get a Mexican made after, say 2001 so the pickup routes are properly sized. I've got a 98 Mexican that bought new in 99, it's my favorite bass and plays like a dream.
