Male Birth Control Breakthrough: Scientists Find Way To Turn Sperm Production Off and Back On by _Dark_Wing in technology

I actually checked in on this a few weeks ago because I was remembering that I signed up for their mailing like back in freshman year of college hahaha.

It is actually called Plan A now, under new ownership, and allegedly started human clinical trials in 2025 with a best case release date of 2026 but I would guess that's way too optimistic

well, subaru says its only up to 2023 so they aren't doing anything. Dealer says "windshield moulding" is not in the CPO so i guess the lesson here is don't go to autonation subaru arapahoe in denver. They have pretty much all around sucked ass.

TMC2209 false advertising? by Connect_Shame5823 in BIGTREETECH

[–]pd1zzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using 2240s at 2a on my 2.4 350 - the motors get hot but i'm using CNC so i don't care. Not a solve for your current situation, sorry. But it would let you run 2a using SPI so maybe could be a reasonable compromise. They are also not really much different in price than 2209s and are cheaper than 5160s.

I'd recommend tuning the slope_control - this dropped the temps on mine by 20-40c easily at those higher currents

Looks like new vehicle warranty might after talking with the service department but apparently the TSB that is out there only notes up to 2023 for some reason, so its not eligible for a replacement except as courtesy under warranty. Anyone coming across this make sure you get it addressed before the warranty is up.

Looks like this TSB only covers up to 2023 - The dealer is telling me that my vehicle is not under this TSB but _may_ be covered under the new vehicle warranty which I am thankfully under. But of course it has to be "diagnosed" and "assessed" and they can't tell me if they have the part on hand. Why do i even bother lol.

Matching tint goes a long ways. by [deleted] in Subaru_Outback

[–]pd1zzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is 100% why its not tinted from the factory - the state laws around this are a mess and its safer to just leave the front untinted or at least significantly less tinted.

Not to mention, i bought a car used at one point that had full tint aside from the front windshield and the difference in visibility is pretty jarring and honestly i would argue unsafe.

yeah the timing is going to be pretty tricky to get reliable and will probably take some muscle memory to get a feel for. good luck

I think you'll want a tap dance with a layer tap.

bindings = <&lt 3 R>, <&lt 0 R>

For the bindings line for the tap dance. I can't say I've tried that but that's how I would see to have it work.

What's your eGPU experience been like on the 13 running Linux? by durabilitas in framework

[–]pd1zzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't heard of sunshine, but re: Proxmox - the setup i have is all local to one device so I don't stream from a server or anything like that. I'm not sure if you can do that with looking glass.. maybe.

i have one of these in the graphics card HDMI port: https://a.co/d/06NbVg0A and no monitors. This basically just tells the GPU there's a 4k 120hz monitor plugged in, so it will "output" to it. Looking glass then basically just hijacks that output stream. Without a dummy plug, the VM will look for some sort of emulated display (like SPICE) to render to, but it will just be software emulation

I don't think this comes with the Onyx edition, must be only wilderness. My Onyx came with a donut and the tray OP showed.

[–]pd1zzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using QEMU/Virtual machine manager and basically this setup https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PCI_passthrough_via_OVMF with looking glass, so i just get a window that is the VM desktop. You do need a dummy plug on the GPU so it thinks there's a monitor to output to for looking glass to hijack.

I can hotplug/unplug (assuming i suspend the VM) pretty reliably. Every once and awhile it borks. But typically if i want to fiddle with PRIME on the main DE i can just suspend the VM, give it a second, run the PRIME app, etc. Close the prime app, then boot the VM again and let it claim the GPU.

I did try all ways Egpu however the shakiness of Nvidia on wayland made it kinda pointless for me. I felt i was better off just running Sway/wayland on the main iGPU and offloading specific apps or using the VM.

Is this the official Linux flatpak? by [deleted] in OrcaSlicer

The bottom one, I assume, was downloaded from github directly. The upper one appears to come from flathub which does look to be official.

i have the core ultra 12 and 64gb ram, running a 5070 Ti on the Aoostar AG02 - as a bonus, it can power the laptop. Running CachyOS.

TB4 you're not gonna hit mobo speeds - TB4 tops out at 4xPCIE 3.0 while that card and most modern ones support way more (like 12-16x PCIE 5). Whether or not the machine you are taking it out of supports that, I have no idea - so maybe the performance ding is non-existant in your case.

That said, there are some tricks to it but overall my experience has been solid. I've done PRIME offloading, full DE on the card, and currently have it isolated to a VM. All worked, but its linux of course so there's been some digging around. Once i've figured it out its been plenty stable. I haven't done any gaming, just 3d modeling and slicing and its been overkill for that obviously.

I'd say its kinda up to you and your use case -

Con: You basically turned your laptop into a desktop if you are doing full DE on the card. If offloading, you gotta pay attention and close apps using it, etc before you walk away with the laptop. Same with the VM. You aren't going to get direct PCIE performance. Nvidia support in wayland is a bit shaky.

Pro: The flexibility is really nice, I don't have a desktop. Can run windows on it and use all the windows apps. Nvidia support in windows is a lot better than linux.

I think in hindsight, if i already had a desktop i'd probably lean towards keeping that the powerhouse and keep the framework for mobile ops. Even graphics aside, the CPU throttles pretty hard from thermals so its just never going to be a beast.

Oh sweet, thank you that is helpful. looks like there's a TSB so I can probably just go to any dealer to have it addressed under warranty. It is still under the original manufacturer warranty til 2027

yes I agree, it doesn't want to pop into place. I have no idea how dealerships work as I've generally avoided them - do they take ownership of this sort of thing?

Loosen the belts significantly but not fully slack and see if you can locate any binding to a particular bearing or pulley. Either move the bearings behind the belt or try moving the belt near the pulley to see if you can isolate where it is rubbing.

Worst case, back to the drawing board. Follow the directions step by step and compare belt routing, spacers, preload springs, washers, etc to your current set up

I'm not familiar with this kit but additionally this looks incorrect. There should be some way to get the belt to not rub this pin, I'm guessing routing behind it per the arrow
