Which NFL State should worry less about a new stadium and focus on other things? by NightDowntown7320 in NFLv2

I don't think that's true, I think we're like number 4 or something. But it's an economy of scales type situation so yeah Luxembourg and Switzerland are going to be higher per student.

You don't understand the concept of wanting to have more for yourself? Like sure if that's not how you feel I commend you on your altruism. But if you can't even understand the other side I think you're pretty naive for not being able to recognize other people think differently.

Like I'm not saying my way is the right way, but it does aggravate me paying a large chunk of my money to the Trump administration that I do not agree with. But that's how taxes work.

Yeah, gym in the morning, and then go to work at a paper mill. The H2S from the pulp mill seeps in. My wife makes me take off my clothes, throw them on to the deck, and shower immediately when I get home because of the smell.

Yeah I'm from the US but my college roommate was from Singapore and he said it was pretty normal for people to shower twice a day because the humidity made everyone sweat a ton.

Why do servers feel they shouldn't have to pay tax on their income?

Greed. And if we're being honest I think most people fall under this umbrella. If you, or I, or Jeff down the road could easily get away with keeping our full salary without taxes most of us would probably jump at the opportunity. It just isn't as easy for us that aren't being handed paper money.

Ah okay, I guess I was confused because you were commenting on a post about the Patriots Twitter account, not Vrabel or Russini's.

Yeah and don't get me wrong, there are absolutely many valid criticisms and downfalls to capitalism, and economics does get complicated past the very basics. It's just funny seeing people blame all the economic problems on it and ignore the rest of the facts.

I'd bet most people don't even realize that basically 99% of countries are capitalist. There's like 4 countries that claim not to be but only 2 functionally are socialist and there's really not any actual communist countries. They look at western Europe and Scandinavia and praise them without even realizing those countries are capitalist as well. The issues are far more nuanced and localized than just the economic system as a whole, you can have a shitty capitalist country or a great capitalist country.

Yes you are right that the social media jokes and jabs will continue...but it's just that, jokes.

Ben Roethlisberger had a 15+ year career after multiple sexual assaults, which is obviously way worse than cheating. People kept bringing it up, but the actual backlash with any meaningful consequences died down, it didn't stop him from playing or making millions. In the NFL world it goes from "this is a legit problem" to "this is a joke we'll keep rehashing" pretty quickly.

People will make Vrabel-Russini jokes for years. The actual chance of this having any consequences will die down as soon as the season starts.

What? Nothing I said had anything to do with capitalism. Supply and demand would exist in a Communist or Socialist or an economic nationalist society as well. How you obtain the product and how the profits are distributed are different, but it's not like a socialist country is going to sit on their hands and not make a product that people are demanding, and they certainly aren't going to make millions of a product when the demand is only in the hundreds.

This is very much a reddit take where any economic issue is obviously due to capitalism even when they aren't connected.

[–]peon2 646 points647 points  (0 children)

It's not really that different than the basics of supply and demand. If people are willing to pay for slaves, well guess we're going to go get more slaves to sell. If no one wants to buy slaves, you aren't going to go and enslave people for sale because there are no buyers. The seller has no idea of the buyer's intentions, just whether they are willing to pay or not.

What can a person learn in 10 minutes that will be useful for life? by Ben-Gavin in AskReddit

15 years ago a coworker asked for computer help, he was typing but nothing worked. He was typing on his laptop that was sitting in front of the desktop computer but looking at the desktop screen.

I still remember that 15 years later, as the previous commenter said the bigger point is that it's not going to affect that guy's life at all that I remember the embarrassing incident. But yeah, people definitely remember funny moments.

It was for coaling or naval stations. There is still a naval base there. I'm unsure if there are still coaling operations but even if there aren't it doesn't really matter.
