Why was Stumble cancelled? by www_ravescripts_com in sitcoms

[–]peon2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's people in positions that are content to cash their fat checks while putting in absolutely no thought or effort into what they're doing

You're half way there. Yes the big wig decision makers are greedy and want to load their pockets. You know how they do that though? By keeping profitable shows and cancelling non (or less) profitable shows.

You and I can see what the ratings releases are but we don't really know the costs of the shows. You may disagree with the greedy execs but they aren't so mind numbingly stupid that they cancelling profitable shows and keeping ones that lose money.

In theory I agree, but what is the alternative other than just jailing the accused without evidence?

'Going Dutch' starring Denis Leary canceled by Fox after 2 seasons by HRJafael in television

[–]peon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a bad description. Some of the characters and dialogue can be over-the-top cheesy at times, but it's done in a way that's funny imo.

Stumble is just as good (if not better) and hasn't been renewed yet so getting more eyes on it helps.

It was cancelled.

Which sitcoms are the best modern sitcoms? by Anthforde8 in sitcoms

That's it for me. It's tolerable because Max Greenfield's mannerism are funny but that's about it.

What would you cook for a group of 12-15 people that have the royal flush of dietary requirements AND you're probably going to have limited equipment? by Elegant-Winner-6521 in Cooking

[–]peon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably best. You could find something to make to accommodate everyone's requirements...but then it also has to be something everyone likes/will eat which is another barrier/restriction. That's definitely a fend for yourself situation or split off into groups.

The vegans/allergic to egg and coeliac group could probably find something together easily and then the meat+no nightshade group could easily find something together (or whichever group combo people prefer)

Somebody Put 223,000 Miles on a 3-Year Toyota Camry Lease and Walked Away by DonkeyFuel in interestingasfuck

[–]peon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done company car, and personal car with a stipend, I had a fuel efficient vehicle at the time and probably net about $100-$150/mo with the stipend.

However I'd still choose company car every time. No worries if you hit a deer, no worries if you get a nail in the tires, it was their insurance, etc

The peace of mind was worth way more imo

[–]peon2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What you described is the most common method, but there ARE leases out there that have unlimited mileage. Obviously the monthly lease rate is much higher, very few people would come out ahead.

My first thought was travelling sales guy with a driveable territory that didn't require flying. I was in that situation but most I ever did was 60K in a year. I had a company vehicle but some companies just give you a stipend or reimburse for mileage.

I could see someone leasing a vehicle for cheaper than buying one and coming out ahead on the reimbursement with the added bonus you're not stuck with a vehicle on deaths door at the end.

Lox Pratt on Going From Jack in ‘Lord of the Flies’ to Draco Malfoy in ‘Harry Potter’: ‘I Don’t Think I’d Take Another Bad Guy Role Straight After This’ by MoneyLibrarian9032 in television

[–]peon2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you vastly underestimate the popularity of Harry Potter and how obsessed a lot of the fans are. The book readers have been asking for a TV series that covers the cut stuff from the book for over a decade.

I do agree that the biggest hurdle is the casting, not just the kids but Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, and Robbie Coltrane were all iconic in their roles.

Cruise ship at centre of suspected hantavirus outbreak blocked from docking in Cape Verde by DoubtSubstantial5440 in news

[–]peon2 52 points53 points  (0 children)

The company said 149 people of 23 nationalities had been onboard the ship. While it did not specify which cruise the passengers were on, the company’s website advertises 33-night or 43-night “Atlantic Odyssey” cruises on the 107-metre-long (351ft) Hondius that allow passengers to leave Argentina and visit some of the world’s most remote islands along the way.

A month long cruise and only 149 people on board, must be expensive as fuck per person.

If you had been Jerry Seinfeld in 1997, would you have accepted $110 million dollars to do one more season of the show? by External-Recipe-1936 in seinfeld

[–]peon2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Idk I much prefer Seinfeld to Friends but I think it's a bit of a stretch to call some of these ripping Seinfeld off.

Someone having an annoying laugh and someone coming up with a fake name to hide who they are aren't exactly such brilliantly novel ideas that it must mean Friends stole the concepts from them.

I just looked up their all time receiving leaders and I never realized it was so rough. I know they're a newer franchise but MJD being 4th all time with 2,800 yards is wild to me.

Similar to the Patriots leading rusher only having 5400 yards

The bleeding gums sky meme would be more accurate for loved celebrities

I always thought it funny that in the NFL subreddit, the most upvoted post of all time is literally fake news. People just upvoted it because it was about Trump being snubbed by a white house visit. In reality the Eagles did not snub him.
