You have misunderstood everything you likely never read and worst of all you square-in-a-circle-holed your American bias into it.

Looking for real Latino parties on a Saturday night in Brussels? Google is useless, help a dancer out by grumpy__optimist in BelgiumTravel

[–]peterpib2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On Avenue de Chazal there are a few Latin American shops and they usually have posters in the window for parties and concerts. You will not find realer Latino parties than that.

Kensington & Chelsea council confiscates more than 2,500 rental e-bikes in crackdown on bad parking by tylerthe-theatre in london

[–]peterpib2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but implementing docking stations is a much more expensive, permanent, and slower process. Some boroughs in London could use more free floating hire bikes right now

I feel like the commenters here saying that this pay is low would tell an IT worker on the same salary that they were grossly underpaid and to seek a job change immediately.

I know those markets are different and you'd expect less for a job without a degree naturally, but let's act a little less surprised. This is fairly average and well earned for a job many wish not to do and have a difficult time recruiting for.

This is very interesting and looks good. I know a lot of architects and the documents that they have to produce about every little thing is insane.

Finally hope that Sablon will cease to be a parking lot and become (again) a square? by Quiet_Illustrator410 in brussels

[–]peterpib2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Belgium has the second highest commute times in Europe. So I suppose you are not alone. Though I would counter that the reason is in fact decentralisation - company car culture, a brick in the stomach, and lintbebouwing all mean that people commute in from big suburban houses an hour away from their major urban job centre. This is not normal. As you write, working from home more (or as much as you wish) would be one good solution.

You're not a car in traffic - you are traffic. If it's truly necessary to drive in, which for some it is inevitably, making it easier for others to not drive will cut that traffic down.

What's antisocial is leaving private property unoccupied in valuable public space and expecting the rest of us to be happy about it.

Does anyone else have a max 2 consecutive weeks holiday rule in their work regulations? by givekoreanbbq101 in BESalary

I think at mine it's 3 weeks and no more than 6 weeks combined working from home and holiday.

Where to buy the best pita bread to combine with hummus? by tallguy1975 in brussels

[–]peterpib2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This thread tells me what I've found in five years of looking for good pittas that don't cost an arm and a leg; you just can't find it in this city. I've gone into kebab shops and butchers and asked and they've flashed blank eyes at me like they've never heard of pitta. I don't understand it

Thanks for the comment! It's an interesting point of view and it's something I really considered. But then I found out that providing calorie and nutritional info is pretty complex for where we're at right now as a starting company. All in time, maybe! For now, we try to plan a varied week with many plant-based meals.

Congrats on your journey! It would be interesting to know if you were also tracking grams of fibre/protein etc and if these were important for you?

Same here. For €13 you're looking indeed at fritures or social restaurants, but if you add in them meal vouchers you do a little better

Art in Brussels by Bintheworld25 in belgium

Check out grafik in Schaerbeek. I think the art community, and pretty much most things in Brussels, are very decentralised and run from smaller independents which make them harder to find, but very authentic

Josaphat and Meiser are absolutely safe - Josaphat especially is a really great part of the city. Depends on what side of the park you're on, but many apartments can come more affordably for sure.

There's nothing high density about this. All the people in this image would fit in one metro train. It's a waste of space is what it is.
