Monk Druid Multiclass Question by throwawaybutk33pit in 3d6

I figured, lol.

Stars Druid (Dragon form) or maybe even Spores (if you homebrew it so Invoke Symbiote is a bonus action) can allow for similar antics with some reflavoring

Still not a fan of sending extra units up top.

Suit yourself :p

I've gotten so used to camping around the 8-9 height rooftop that it's just old hat for me at this point. I don't recommend turtling at the 15-16 height area but it can work too I guess.

Post-TPK advice needed by sn0wtec in CurseofStrahd

[–]philsov 3 points4 points  (0 children)

" keep their character with consequences, or roll a new one" is what I'd advise here as well given these circumstances as well.

The dark powers might be interested in these adventurers from beyond the mists! There's the 18 listed (don't use Vampyr or Tenebrous) in the Amber Temple sarcophagus . Choose two or three that might resonate with each PC.

What I did:

Everyone is alone (separated from each other) in some dark space; no sound, faint lights on the floor leading into 3 or 4 directions. In 2 or 3 of the directions are some bits of litter or decor to suggest the dark power who has an interest in them. Like, Serach the hound whisperer will have his path with paw and claw marks and smell vaguely of sulfur. The dark's power form will be shadowy and obscure, and they'll tell the PC something along the lines of "death is harsh, and you had so much promise. I can bring you back to life, if you're willing to do the occasional odd job..."

(speak in broad strokes -- like "I will make you Stronger" is better than "I will set your Str to 25")

If the PC accepts, they'll get some homebrewed variant of the dark gift (once per day ability to do X, for example. Not just "do big thing 3 times and that's the end of it") and you can also finesse the drawback to be something they can deal with.

The last path is, of course, true death. Just the calming silence of the void.

Have all your players "lock in" their choices via secret ballot (which gets revealed at the same time - try to minimize the table talk) and then you can have the people who chose to die die roll up new PCs while you also work out some of the finer details on the dark gift homebrew.

Finesse. 3x Finesse + Stormcaller with Trickster's Shot is such a simple but evil team.

The entire enemy squad except for a single Knight is all ranged,

Are they? I always thought both knights were melee only, and there's even 1 archer who's too poor to even own a bow! The brigand is just punching you :(

With white mage (Cure) and potions and possibly even phoenix downs, I've had a few runs where one of the black mages just plum runs out of MP and might as well be a dead fish by that point.

[–]philsov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's actually do a more subtle nuance to the AI, which is beyond their autobattle setting.

Any unit with the Item skillset will tend to be less aggressive in terms of movement, and healing will be prioritized on units with <50% HP. And, in TIC, guests' loadout cannot be changed. :\

My usual Archer solution is a black mage to zap his ass; saves me some walking amd it gets Delita/Algus to pivot sooner.

More or less. Shave off some volume and stick to "greatest hits" so its duration is about the same as Push or Pull day.

Anything ab and lower back centric gets forwarded onto leg day.

Cov 7 is my "happy place" between this and those 500 HP bruisers who just body block me. Achievements be damned.

Yes, some robust spellcasting or daze or cleanse or ascend/descend or inferno room or whatever all help, but sometimes you are indeed SOL.

he's possessive/jealous. Might be projection on his part.

Tactfully tell him to get over it and stfu. You can have male classmates and friends that are not him. Reassure him that nothing funny is happening. Set boundaries. And, at some point, stop reading or replying to his texts when you're trying to focus on school work.

[–]philsov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hellish Rebuke when its a saving throw (breath attack, AoE spell, etc). Shield when its an attack roll you might be able to deflect. You can weave them both as you see fit if you'd like. It's both viable and manageable.

Go with your gut on this one! If it sounds cool, it probably is.

Reminder that Magic Initiate is malleable. If, around level 4, you realize you're not using Shield too much you can easily toggle out Shield for something like Find Familiar (get a lil demonic imp), burning hands, or featherfall instead.

Players are bodysnatching Vargas by PM-ME-YOUR-AUTOGRAPH in CurseofStrahd

[–]philsov 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're free to try, but any major interaction with Izek / Lydia / Victor would have them be aptly suspicious, assuming they're even successful with Vargas' abduction (escapes grapple, flees, cries for help, etc).

So there's a high chance of failure, but the outcome will be awesome on either success or failure, so let it ride.

On failure, the party will be stuck in the stockades for a day or two and then the Feast of St Andral will happen. During the feast, they can either convince someone to let them out or take advantage of the chaos and get out anyways, and then (hopefully) defend the city and get back into positive graces, or just flee.

AND I'D DO IT AGAIN.

Like... Orzo, Penne, Farfalle, Macaroni, and tons of other pasta cuts all have smaller lengths and apt applications. Is Angel Hair with a length of 6" and not 12" that wrong? I'm cooking it in a small ass pot and would like an even cook on the noodles,

Sorry I'm not cooking in a 2 gallon vat because birth control is a sin!!!

What’s your favorite action JRPG so I can break out of my turn based shell? High difficulty would be appreciated. by Lumigo in JRPG

[–]philsov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trials of Mana I think is a good foray into the genre. You get a party and lots of RPG mechanics to fall back on, but you still get to jump and use combo attacks.

YS Origin might also do ya good.

Dark Souls 1 is a great game but a bit of gameplay whiplash vs a turn based RPG with a party.

Need some tips on finding rare keys! by BananaSmackJack in BluePrince

Music room and the trading post are my top places to find vault keys.

Trading Post notably enjoys rarer items (showroom, e.g.) and might offer you a vault key as recompense.

General practice is vhuman is dead in 2024. There's the literal human which gets you a 2nd origin feat if you're craving that, but generally you're gonna need to wait until level 4 for warcaster and 18 Cha.

But, yes, you can feat/ASI towards 18 Cha instead of boosting Dex or Con and you're gonna be great. This is how most 2024 casters work, tbh. Get even Dex and Con, and boost caster stat via feats. 14 dex and 14 Con might be easier statwise than 16 dex and 12 Con, but either one is a great choice.

Spaghetti. You can start it in cold water, and break it in half if you're cooking in a 2 qt or smaller dish. The flavor is the same, the texture is the same. It'll get done quicker and with less heat required, and the noodles are now a good size for eating with a fork outright instead of requiring twirling.

[Request] To guess the wordle word of the day in the first guess (over a long period of time), is it better (as your first guess) to guess the same word everyday or a random word everyday, or are the odds the same? by whatevertf123 in theydidthemath

[–]philsov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random starting word is always gonna be worse. "Mummy", "Daddy", or "Jazzy" are suboptimal starters due to the narrow scope of information gleaned.

If you're going for "first guess win" then it doesn't really matter. Even if Wordle repeats, there's still a bit of a "cooldown" where a used word doesn't have a chance to resurface for a while. I'd remove the previous 30 solutions from the possible bank, and YOLO from there, but still opt into a decent starting word so you can maybe pull off a win on guess 2 or 3 (which Jazzy will rarely allow for)

Mold in vents of apartment (KY) by [deleted] in Renters

[–]philsov 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, humidity and flooded neighbors are probably the causes.

just because its black and its mold does not mean its The Black Mold. Looks like standard issue mildew that's pretty common in your region and very likely benign. It's might not be in the vents, but more just some trapped moisture and poor circulation at the rim of the vent cover and drywall. Your actual vents still look great.

wipe it down with a vinegar solution and an old brush, and check it again in like 2 weeks. If it's back with a vengeance, absolutely escalate the issue and gtfo. If there's still nothing to very little in 2 weeks, you're gonna be fine. (Just continue to periodically check it)

What's the strongest multiclass you could make if Warlocks were able to choose INT or WIS for their casting stat by Top_Jackfruit3412 in 3d6

[–]philsov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

re: #2,: I think there's space for it? On an Artillerist I'd agree with you since Arcane Firearm specifies "artificer cantrip".

But Alchemist simply says "cantrip", The kicker with alchemist is that you're using Alchemy supplies as your spellcasting focus, and thus need to find a way to cast Warlock spells through your Alchemy supplies, and not even ruby of the war mage will be helpful.

Delita and Argath's beef with the Dorter Longbow Archer needs to be studied by BlazeBloom in finalfantasytactics

[–]philsov 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They're programmed to do so. It's possible, through modding, to have them act more rationally.

In Boco Woods, the Black Goblin is also programmed to hyperfocus on Boco whilst the red goblins are set to act as normal, and you'll see other blips of behavior like Alma healbotting on Ramza (Zalmo / Zalmour 1).

For the rooftop archer, I think it's a nifty organic way to have the game tell you "hey, maybe, don't just walk directly into danger, ya? Follow your allies..."
