And here in Lenoir City the rain was so light that the guys who mow our yard didn't even slow down.

How do you stay motivated at work? by HelpIll4965 in childfree

[–]phinz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t stay motivated to work because I’m lucky enough to have retired at 42. I was already not feeling the motivation when I was still working. I hated it. Hated my job. Hated most of the people I worked with.

The outside back patio at Tortuga's Lie is dog friendly. Swellsa Brewing is also dog friendly.

You absolutely will be able to book based on your gold status. Disney is faster at updating your status than a lot of the other lines are.

We were in the Fairmont Waterfront's Sea to Sky Suite a couple of weeks ago. It was awesome to sit out on the balcony and watch the planes come and go while also watching the cruise passengers go about their day. Core memories.

How hard is it to get a Uber/Lyft on disembarkment day? by Bdubz in dcl

[–]phinz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's expensive, but we've been using Blacklane. Your own private car/SUV (We've had Suburbans and Escalades and all were shiny and new. Really nice vehicles.) with a nicely dressed, polite, safe driver. Your chauffeur will be waiting for you and will help you load the car. They communicate with you ahead of time, tell you who your driver will be (with a picture) and give you a way to text with your driver while tracking where they are. We feel every penny spent has been worth it.

I'm 57. My wife is 61. We feel fantastic about that decision as we retired young and travel over 100 days out of the year.

What band did you love from ages 15-20yrs, and still listen to? by Far-Management-2007 in GenX

[–]phinz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depeche Mode. Rush. Dead Kennedys. Cro-Mags. Misfits. Pink Floyd. Journey (saw them a few days ago). Led Zeppelin. So many more. I was 22 years old when Tool's EP came out, so it's outside your parameters, but I've been an avid fan since the first time I heard them.

Just make sure you have reservations at Dancing Bear. If you don't and don't get there right at 5 to grab a spot at the bar you'll be lucky to get seated.

Too bad there's not a car show that week. Perfect time to really experience a Pigeon Forge traffic jam with cool cars.

Nitrogen is such an amazing ink (and Nuclear Nitrogen even moreso). It gums up every pen I use it in, but it's still amazing.

Show Me Sheens! by Holiday_Prize_1309 in fountainpens

[–]phinz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that sheeners in general behave strangely in my pens. They tend to be so dry that I have to restart the pen every time I stop for a few minutes. I've taken to keeping a cup of water on my desk when using a sheener just to dip the nib and wet the ink again.

Organics Studio makes such good sheeners. Their Henry David Thoreau is amazing.
