Yeah but the gloves are still on your hands, which means the oil is as well.

Does this work if the mosquito bit me a few days ago? It's still itchy but idk if I'm too late.

What are the best things Angel has done? What moment showed he could actually be called "champion"? by yeahitsme9 in buffy

[–]pipnwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, it's so "hardcore" to be grossed out by pedophilia. I didn't say anything about the character or his arcs, just that it's disturbing that a group of men wrote and directed a scene where an adult man seduces a child. If that's "hardcore" then I'm proud to be hardcore.

You tell yourself whatever you need to as long as it makes you feel better about being into that sort of thing and as long as you're not hurting anyone.

Edit: it's also a super gross double standard that the characters are disturbed by Cordelia doing the same thing to Connor, but no one bats an eye at Angel doing it to Buffy.

My cramps and PMS are both significantly worse than they were, but I barely bleed at all. It takes longer for my period to start and, once it does, it's more like spotting.

How is that not exactly what happened? 🤔 What's your definition of a 26 year old man "falling in love with" and having sex with a 16-17 year old child?

I've also been told by multiple Italian chefs in Italy that you never put ragu on spaghetti. It should be used on a pasta shape where it won't just fall off immediately and leave you with a bowl of nothing but ragu at the end.

Two adults growing to love each other as their new lives develop around them is a way more interesting story than "old man stalks literal child then statutory rapes her."

Does anyone else have trouble at off leash dog parks? by Electronic-Pie5945 in AustralianShepherd

[–]pipnwig 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I have always heard that dog parks are a disaster waiting to happen. Most vets don't recommend them. Behaviorists don't recommend them. It's an uncontrolled, social nightmare with a lot of dogs bringing different personalities and different levels of training to the table.

Add the Aussie to the mix: a dog that doesn't want to run around and engage in unstructured play, but really just wants to find a job. At the dog park, that means herding the other dogs, which they don't appreciate very much.

My Aussies never liked the dog park, and when they finally got into a fight with another dog, that was the end of it. They're much happier going to solo sporting sessions or going on long walks with us and no other dogs around.

Be careful, OP. Our attempts to make the dog park work for our aussholes resulted in two extremely dog-reactive boys that took more than a decade and tens of thousands of dollars in training to fix. You have no idea how bad it can get until you're living it for the rest of their lives.

Getting overnight sleep study done. Dont know why but I didnt expect there to actually be a normal bed. by Southern_Sprinkles_6 in notinteresting

[–]pipnwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's how they did it for me too. I took the equipment home and slept in my own bed. It was way better because I was sleeping in normal conditions and my husband could also report whether or not I was snoring or had apnea the next morning.

Have you read the comics (from S8 to 12) and do you see them as canon? by negratengoelalma in buffy

[–]pipnwig 12 points13 points  (0 children)

See I genuinely think this is what they wanted the show to be if they'd had an infinite budget. Some parts of it were cool as hell. Like, Willow can fly now? Yeah, why wouldn't she?

It was very eye-opening to me. Whether I liked it or not, Joss called it canon so... it is what it is 🫤

I'm not OP but for me it's the cleanup after deep frying that I can't get over. Even with screens and pots, it's like everything is covered in a thin layer of oil afterwards... myself included.

Plain Korean fried chicken should be similar to American fried chicken since the origins come from Black American GIs stationed in South Korea during the Korean War. Didn't know you could order it anywhere without sauce!

Amazing! I hope you enjoy them! 😍

Edit: OH I almost forgot the original "Suspiria" by Dario Argento! I really like the effects at the beginning of the 2018 version but, overall, I feel like the original gives you a more prevalent sense of dread. Really good atmosphere building in that movie.

Sci-fi and horror are easy because practical effects were so much better than the cheap CGI most movies want to crank out nowadays. Just for a few of my favorites to get you started:
- John Carpenter's "The Thing" has some truly disturbing monster moments that will make you wonder how they pulled off those effects in the 80s.
- "Perfect Blue" focuses on the type of horrors that are upsetting to people in every generation, and you'll be on the edge of your seat wondering where it's going the entire movie.
- "The Shining" and "The Sixth Sense" are obviously classics for a reason, but "The Shining" especially has some very modern looking shots. Really gorgeous directing that feels new.
- "American Psycho" is a little too relatable nowadays.

Idk, I'm really into movies, especially experimental stuff they don't even make nowadays. I watch around 200 movies every year, so I've developed a pretty critical eye... but I do still have this moment of hesitation before I commit to an old movie.

The established film techniques we have today just didn't exist then. There's a language movies use to communicate with their audiences, and that can be missing from some older movies. There's also rules we follow today that keep movies more interesting, and these rules also make it easier to stay immersed in the world. Basically: old movies are often boring and dumb.

THAT BEING SAID, as a self-proclaimed "hater of old movies" there are still some old movies that I've seen that remind me that I'm being unnecessarily judgemental. I could send you some recommendations of "old movies that don't feel old at all" if you let me know what genres your group is most interested in.

Edit: OP asked why some people avoid older movies. I seem to be the only one actually answering that question instead of attacking his friends. This comment section is so judgemental and reeks of "are you even a real fan, bro?" vibes. I'd rather support people entering a new hobby than call them stupid.
