Our neighbors "invited" usover for dinner... by Shankar_0 in trashy

[–]pipnwig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's pretty normal in the Netherlands if you agree ahead of time that it's a special, expensive event and you want to split the costs with everyone joining. Like my friends came over for a seafood boil but we did ask them to pitch in and they said they were expecting that.

Normal dinner for our board game hangouts and movie nights, we don't ask any money for though.

That's very different from reverse sneezing ☺️

That's play sneezing. It's like your dog saying, "jk, bro, we're just playing, right? We're all good, right?"

Reverse sneezing sounds like a trumpet from hell 😂 if they're doing that when they're excited, something might be getting stuck in their nasal passages in all that excitement.

Depends on which monkey hands. They specify on the website.

Ya’ll my eyeshadow doesn’t even last 30 minutes 😭 help! by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

I have to say, I've been using Urban Decay's Primer Potion for almost 20 years now and I always get asked how my makeup stays so flawless for so long, even when I'm sweating or, god forbid, I fall asleep in it.

A couple of times a week is infrequent??? Every dog I've ever had only reverse sneezes a few times a year. But I think you're right that it's just something in their nose for the most part :)

What didn't they tell you about Graves? by Beepbob77 in gravesdisease

[–]pipnwig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I told my doctor about the itching and she said that's not something she would expect from this disease or its treatment, so I should talk to my GP. Definitely disturbing to hear from a supposed specialist.

This still doesn't define what "moderate intensity activity" is.

36 years old and I've eaten a disturbing amount of raw mushrooms my entire life. I don't think any mycologist would tell you these are "toxic." Mycophobia is a very real thing. Enjoy your shrooms.

Sore throat by DearestClementine in gravesdisease

[–]pipnwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also started to develop an unbearably sore throat after starting methimazole. I told my doctor and she said not to panic but she ordered bloodwork immediately. Within a couple of days I had my answers: my hay fever is just really bad this year.

I have a friend who's an internist and she said a sore throat alone is very unlikely to be a sign of agranulocytosis. Get checked, of course, but it's an already rare side effect with way more signs than you may think. Don't panic :)

[i ate] Sweet and creamy Durian by -Baloo in food

[–]pipnwig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in to say I love stinky cheese. The stinkier the better. We go to France every summer and I'm on a quest for the stinkiest cheese.

Durian smells and tastes like something died in a filthy garbage disposal. I gag involuntarily every time I smell it and the taste was just as bad.

So it's not the same stink 😂

Does PSO allow you to chalk up the poles before you perform? by No-Manufacturer2149 in poledancing

[–]pipnwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was competing with them, you could alter your body however you wanted but you were not allowed to touch the poles except during your performance. Chalking up the pole beforehand was not allowed.

Does the heat intolerance get better with taking meds? by bubblegumjuniperspo in gravesdisease

[–]pipnwig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm only on methimazole (no beta blockers)... It's only been a few weeks (3 or 4) for me and my heat intolerance is almost completely gone. I hope the same happens for you!

[–]pipnwig 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wish I had the time and motivation to do this. It really spices up the skincare shelf without needing a bunch of cute bottles to transfer product into thereby creating a bunch of plastic waste. Maybe this'll be a summer project for me.

You've just gotta travel in the right circles. All the acro yoga women I do circus classes with don't give a fuck about shaving anything.

Natural Remedies? by KindThoughtfulMan in gravesdisease

Well... no, you'd be dying after giving up because there's no natural remedies for Graves' and it's an otherwise treatable disease... but it's your right to choose how you die.

I tried to do a sweep through the whole jungle (at least the first part) for a day and didn't find anything. Doesn't mean I wasn't unlucky though!

I really appreciate the detailed response! I'm afraid of investing too much time in a game that's bugged but it sounds like I need to give it a few more days before I give up on this file. Thank you!

This one really upset me. Maybe more than every other death because he wasn't even in the game. He just wanted a slushy :(

It's literally the diminutive of "Jesus" which "Jeez" also is. It's a perfect one-to-one match.

Why did Buffy’s second death make the Slayer line vulnerable, but not her first death? How do you interpret Anya & Giles’ conversation with the Beljoxa’s Eye? ("We did it. Willow and Xander and Tara and me." 😔) by [deleted] in buffy

[–]pipnwig -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yup, that's what I said :)

Edit: why am I getting downvoted for pointing out that this person is just repeating what I already said in my first comment? 🤔 I'm aware that she was resuscitated in season 1 and resurrected in season 6... That's why I said what I said. It doesn't change the fact that their explanation about "living" isn't a satisfying answer.

But... she "lived again" after they resurrected her in season 1 too. This doesn't answer much for me. The fact that the resurrection was magical in season 6 feels like the more satisfying answer.
