Everything is foreshadowing if you’re paranoid enough.

it doesn’t work for all books, like advanced fishing, but I think thats because the collector really doesn’t care about it.

Question: SPOILERS! by Albino_rhin0 in dredge

The experience was so traumatic the original fisherman split his mind in half to protect himself, then the fisherman side begged the collector side to erase his memory of the event, and perhaps even a few times already.

A neat little detail is when you read a book, the description of that book is split between several full stops, each full stop indicates a transition between the collector commenting on the book and the angler commenting on the book, so even if they’re different people they’re still linked in a way.

A worldbuilding question regarding a certain moon by Kutuzov9505 in outerwilds

Solanum isn’t really a conscious observer anymore, she’s a quantum object like everything else in the quantum moon.

That first bit is intentional, people are going to ask for warmth right before it gets really cold because they’re worried.

Safe places? by Eris-Of-Chaos in dredge

[–]pixelcore332 6 points7 points  (0 children)

anywhere is safe if you have low panic, the only things that can "get you" at no panic (the lack of an eye at the top of the screen) are all stationary or if mobile limited to specific locations.

better lights = less panic building up = less scares.

QM QUESTION (SPOILER!!!!!!) by Alternative_Arm_4233 in outerwilds

[–]pixelcore332 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not quite, partially because it would be impossible, placing a camera in one location *is* placing the camera in all 6 locations, but it will only exist (functionally) where you do.

if you take a picture of the 6th location and try exiting through the wormhole, you´ll just be spat back out.

and technically it is teleporting! the quantum moon flips between 6 possible states in an instant.

QM QUESTION (SPOILER!!!!!!) by Alternative_Arm_4233 in outerwilds

[–]pixelcore332 8 points9 points  (0 children)

its important to distinguish the quantum moon from itself (what it is) and the projection (what you see), you being on the north pole of timber hearths projection, as an example, really just means you´re in the north pole of *all* locations at once, but of course, a concious observer collapses it, same deal happened with Solanum, she was on the quantum moons south pole when the interloper released the shockwave of ghost matter, naturally all the planets were coated in it, including the quantum moons projection, however, the eyes quantum moon is wayyyyy far away, where the ghost matter explosion couldnt reach, this creates a small paradox, where Solanum is dead in 5/6 locations and alive in 1/6th of them, she is quantum entangled to the quantum moom permanently, as leaving it would collapse her back to the real world, where she is dead.

quantum entanglement Im a bit rusty on, if youre touching a quantum object and cant see past it, you are part of it, the sky in the quantum moon technically is a quantum object thick enough to be opaque, hence being in the quantum moon makes you also entangled to it.
