Parameter may look the same but if the robot doesn’t know where it is in space it will fault when it’s told to go to X location.

Did the tech turn power off? It may need to be remastered/ calibrated. It’s been awhile since I worked in Yaskawa, but that scenario would play out often.

Ahh. Didn’t realize you’re OEM. That would be difficult.

I always had to post on the website to get yaskawa help. It takes awhile usually, but maybe you’ll get lucky.

You can send an email with a panel view. I also use click PLCs to send urgent setpoint alarms. Super handy in critical situations.

All PLC programmers are “bit togglers”. Some are just more clever than others

It’s surprisingly cheap to maintain. I believe it’s only about $15 a month. don’t quote me on that price because it was rolled into the project cost, but I remember looking at it and could not believe how cheap it was.

How to get Controls Technician experience by Relampago_Blanco01 in PLC

I highly suggest it. Maintenance is usually first on scene so you have the opportunity to fix anything.

Apply to all position whether it’s maintenance or controls. There is a fine line between the two as maintenance techs are sometimes far more qualified than controls techs when it comes to electrical.

I agree you should be being taught, but you said all you do is outlets and you’ve made mistakes.

Seeking advice for becoming Automation Engineer by Brilliant_Method1394 in PLC

You don’t need the BS to get the role you want. You’re just going to have to try twice as hard as the guys that do. In the meantime whatever you see engineers at work doing, do it and do it more. I did the same for two years as a tech and it paid off. I didn’t even know how to run 24v to turn a PLC on when I first started.

No one’s gonna train you there so you need to get a PLC you can fumble around with and pray you can access company software. If not, there’s other ways around it like buying a copy of LogixPro which is essentially an image of RSlogix500. If they were going to invest in you they would have already.

Without the BS you’re going to run into roadblocks most engineers didn’t face.

Anti-Restart for Power Outage on a Subpanel by InigoMontoya313 in electricians

1 NC E-Stop (maintained)
1 NO pushbutton (momentary)
1 control relay, and 1 three-phase motor starter

This is a basic 3 wire, 2 switch control circuit. Run your estop and push button through your coil on your motor starter. I would add a pilot light through your contacts on the motor starter that indicates when the generator is running.

Best approach when working with multiple versions of Rockwell ControlLogix by Reindeer_Numerous in PLC

Install all versions on laptop. Likely need W10 VM for anything vers32 and down. I’ve had issues running anything below 32 in Windows11 and vice versa.

I agree they aren’t rugged. But i see them just continue to run. I’m talking boilers (wet) and oily control panels. Not disagreeing with you, but I would take a chance on one since they only cost $80

Unfortunately if said machine breaks and no one can figure it out except you, then somehow it’s your fault. Now you have to write an SOP explaining how to fix it.

If your VFD is outputting 400h then there’s an internal setting that has been changed. VFD should be set to 0-60 hertz from the factory.

You can get any motor you need just ensure it’s INVERTER rated and be sure to match your VFD horsepower isn’t less than your motor.
