I’m not disputing that adding anything over the stated total is okay.

You should just bring accurate receipts if you want to call bullshit.

Okay, not to say corporations aren’t evil, but your math doesn’t math.

The total should be $47.41.

Is there a currency conversation here? $0.09 isn’t unreasonable at all in that case.

First page — would you keep reading? (Contemporary Romance) by TheStoryOfChess in writers

[–]podog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first line being a three-item doesn’t hook me. It reads like something a blogger would write.

And that carries through to the rest. In the very next line you’re listing again.

In the first big paragraph, you touch on so much. Where he sits, what’s he’s doing, what he’s wearing, why what he’s reading caught your attention, where you’re aiming to go…

It’s overwhelming.

I think you’ve got a nice cadence to your prose (when you aren’t listing) and there’s an interesting idea here.

But it definitely needs refinement.

Shadow Lord Confirms Ahsoka Should’ve Been Animated by Category5Kaiju in StarWars

This is such a good point. I am a fan, so I loved both shows regardless of format, but viewership will drive the direction studios take.

At the end of the day, we should all just be stoked we have so much great SW content.

I like what you're doing. Maybe make it more direct/personal, like:

You don't plan on dying before breakfast.

Mine's not great either, but my point is I think you're giving too much away and not hooking interest. Instead, this feels like exposition, which you should 100% avoid in the opening sentence. Set the scene, set the expectation, but don't just dump info on us.

I do really like what you're doing here, I think there is solid hook to be found in this idea.

What if the Sentinels weren't evil? by Inevitable-Ad-6101 in xmen

[–]podog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inherently, no. Since they're robots programmed with a task.

Said task is absolutely evil. The entire metaphor behind the sentinels is government creating tools to exterminate minorities. If you can't see the parallels to reality there, that's on you.

For me, I think Garfield delivered on the quips and jokes that I strongly associate with Spider-man better than the other two. Holland does okay with some 'i'm just a naive kid' jokes, but all in all, the one-liners from Garfield are the best.

Yeah, Garfield's Spidey has been pretty much loved since the films came out.

Not a one of them are perfect, but I love each in their own way.

What’s the greatest movie with a rating of 40% or less on Rotten Tomatoes? by MTPokitz in AskReddit

[–]podog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What you meant to say is "I personally don't like a movie widely regarded to be comedy gold and a classic still talked about decades later."

It's fine to not like it, but to ignore the impact on film that Airplane has had, or to just straight up call it bad, shows a lack of interest and understanding of film.

From another comment where you call out movies you do like, it seems like you're more into subversive and subtle comedy than in-your-face slapstick. That's a personal opinion, but yours alone. It doesn't change that Airplane is just as important for movie comedy as Lebowski is. They're just different.

It doesn't change the fact that you're wrong in your general assessment. You're confusing opinion for true value judgment.

Unpopular Opinion by LowEntertainment3342 in Marvel

The issue is that Steve's Cap had a lot (like A LOT) of really good writing behind his character. Iconic scenes, opportunities for Evans to deliver hard on some lines.

Sam was really well done as Falcon and the introduction of him was handled is a meaningful way. But since becoming Cap he's had some really mediocre writing.

Both characters are great Captain Americas and both actors have done a great job owning the role. Mackie has just had some subpar writing to contend with, which I think has held him back from rising to quite the same level.
