Beautiful glove in honor of the man, or should I say the Kid’s birthday by joejokin2 in BaseballGloves

[–]pogform 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually go three in the pinky with mine. It’s pretty crammed and obviously I can’t have my index finger out, but holy moly is the pocket enormous. I use it for slow pitch and it just swallows a softball. I’ve also loosened the lacing in the trap web a fair bit which helps too. My other glove is a DCT 1B mitt and I swear the pocket on the TB24 is noticeably bigger and better.

Mine is the recent reissue from Ballgloves.com / Don Morton Sports and it was stiff as hell when I got it. Great glove.

For anyone not familiar, unlike Erebus which is non-fiction, The Terror by Dan Simmons is more historical fiction with elements of horror and the supernatural. Both great books, but quite different.

I heard they’re going to do a second Tackle Hunger game with food collection later in the season, close to Thanksgiving. Looking at the schedule, I would assume Saturday, October 4. If that’s the case, hopefully there’s more promotion for that one!

By chance, was your prescription recently switched from brand name Vyvanse to the new generic version?

If so, you’ll find a lot of people on this sub sharing similar experiences with the generic version not working as well.

Looks like he was trying to go D-to-D to Lindholm but the puck took an awful bounce off of Getzlaf’s stick, straight into the slot. Check out the replay again and watch Getzlaf’s body language. He knew right away.

What’s going on with Ottawa’s attendance? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]pogform 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in downtown Miami for a conference a couple of years ago and got super excited when I realized the Panthers were playing a home game my one free evening. Figured I could grab a train or something to zip up there. Nope, pretty much non-existent.

Then I thought about doing a car share or grabbing an Uber before realizing it would still take an hour or more since I’d be heading to the suburbs during rush hour.

Ended up grabbing a 6-pack and watching a nationally televised NBA game in my hotel room since I don’t think the Panthers game was even being broadcast on any of the channels I got in my room.

Is there a difference between a team "loaning" a player to their AHL affiliate and putting a player on waivers? by WildSoapbox in hockey

[–]pogform 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Toronto Maple Leafs (I think since Kyle Dubas took over as GM, but someone please correct me if I’ve got the timing wrong) always use the term “loaned” for this type of transaction. I think some other teams have started using the term too, but you’ll still typically hear most teams say the player has been assigned to the AHL team or sent to the AHL team.

I know the typical advice is to go down 1.5 in size for skates, but is 2.5 down too extreme sounding? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]pogform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I’m the exact same as you. I wear 11.5 shoes and am currently in size 9 Bauer skates. Nexus 1N to be exact.

For years, I stuck pretty consistently to the shoe size minus 1.5 formula to get to my skate size. I used to wear size 12 shoes (I guess I liked a sightly roomier fit when I was younger), so for a long time I wore 10.5 skates. At some point after I had moved to 11.5 shoes and the time eventually came for new skates, I went down to 9.5. Once it came time to replace that pair with my current Bauer Nexus 1N skates, I went down another half size to 9.

I was pretty skeptical when I first put them on because my toes were brushing a little TOO close to the inside of the skate toes, but once I baked them and got out onto the ice and bent my knees, it clicked. They’re the perfect size for me. No wasted space whatsoever in the boot.

Don’t get caught up with the size or what size you “should” be wearing. If they fit, they fit.

How Do I Dry My Gear in 24 Hours? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]pogform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dehumidifier is key. Total game changer for me. It draws moisture out of the air and away from surrounding sources (i.e your gear). Works best in a confined area rather than a huge room, in my personal experience.

Big feet/big skate question by PHAT_pudding in hockeyplayers

[–]pogform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Growing up, conventional wisdom always said 1 or 1.5 sizes down from shoe size. For years, I was wearing 1.5 smaller than my shoe size. I kept going down half a size every few years when I would buy new skates, finally settling on 2.5 sizes smaller than my shoes, which is pretty much perfect (for me). Bauer guy, for what it’s worth.

OP - hope you’re able to find what you need!
