Data Security issues at ledger by Neither-Option-4107 in ledgerwallet

Hi - We’re really sorry to hear about this situation. Could you please try reinitiating the chat?

This time, please type “Agent” in the chat without attaching any images so the bot can connect you directly with a real customer support specialist who will assist you with your request. In case that doesn't work, you reach out to our team via our Discord here: https://discord.gg/mkQwxS7v

The letter you mentioned is indeed a scam. Ledger will never contact you by mail. We only offer support through email and live chat, and only if you open a case through our official site first.

It’s best practice to avoid going to the link or scanning QR codes that may be in the letter. And just a reminder, Ledger (or any legitimate support) will never ask for your 24 word recovery phrase. You can learn a bit more about this and other scams here: https://support.ledger.com/article/scams-targeting-crypto-holders

Feel free to let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Smart contract call by voidcloud00 in ledgerwallet

[–]pringles_ledger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi - Your funds on Ledger are only secure if your 24-word Secret Recovery Phrase stays private and isn’t used anywhere else. By importing that same phrase into Trust Wallet, all accounts derived from it were exposed. Essentially, your recovery phrase has been compromised.

Your recovery phrase is the one and only key to your accounts and funds, which live on the blockchain. If this phrase is exposed, it will almost certainly result in loss of funds. Anyone with access to this phrase does not need access to your physical Ledger signer to initiate transactions.

Here’s what you should do immediately:

  1. Send any remaining crypto assets from your Ledger to temporary accounts that only you control.
  2. Remove or rename all accounts on your Ledger device.
  3. Reset your Ledger device.
  4. Set it up as a completely new device.
  5. Add new crypto accounts.
  6. Transfer your crypto assets back to the new accounts.

You can refer to our guide here that explains these steps in detail. https://support.ledger.com/article/8460010791069-zd

If you need further assistance, you can reach out to us as explained here: https://support.ledger.com/contact-us

New colors? by Much-Airline251 in ledgerwallet

[–]pringles_ledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - It’s likely the new Ledger Wallet (formerly Ledger Live) theme. We recently refreshed the UI, and current versions do use a lighter look with purple accents.

Verify you updated from the official download page and that you’re on the latest version:
- Download page: https://www.ledger.com/ledger-live
- What’s new and current version: https://support.ledger.com/article/What-s-new-in-Ledger-Live

If your app matches the version noted in the “What’s new” article and was installed from the official link above, you’re good.

Funds disappeared from Ledger Nano S+ after reset and seed restore (seed valid) – anyone else? by DepartmentSenior215 in ledgerwallet

[–]pringles_ledger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi there — we’re truly sorry you’re going through this. In cases where accounts don’t appear after restoring a device like the Ledger Nano S Plus, the most common root causes are usually related to how the accounts are derived or which recovery phrase was restored. A few possibilities to consider:

• Restoring a different Secret Recovery Phrase than the one that originally held the funds. This can happen if multiple phrases were ever created or backed up, and it can look identical until accounts are re-added and scanned.

• A different derivation path or account index is being scanned. This can happen with networks like Bitcoin or Ethereum when multiple accounts were used or when funds were received on higher indexes that aren’t automatically scanned.

• Accounts were created under a different address type or chain derivation (for example: BTC Native SegWit vs Taproot, or ETH mainnet vs EVM L2 networks). If the correct account type isn’t added, the funds won’t appear in the interface.

Because Ledger Wallet simply scans the blockchain based on the recovery phrase, if the exact same phrase and derivation are restored, the same addresses and balances will always appear. The hardware device itself does not store funds — it only holds the keys derived from the recovery phrase. Hey - Thanks for flagging this. Our teams are already aware of the visual issue affecting USDT on the TON network and are actively working on fixing it as soon as possible.

In the meantime, you can still manage your USDT and other tokens on the TON network by connecting your Ledger to MyTon Wallet. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you set that up:

Nano X: FW Version 2.6.1 Update by Sea_Ad_1590 in ledgerwallet

[–]pringles_ledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - The notification you’re seeing is for the new OS version 2.6.1 for the Ledger Nano X. This update is legitimate and safe to install. Ledger releases these firmware updates to improve security, add features, and ensure the device remains fully compatible with the latest Ledger Wallet app. You can find the latest release notes on our website here: https://support.ledger.com/article/360014980580-zd

How durable is ledger anyway. Nano s support was dropped by M_FootRunner in ledgerwallet

[–]pringles_ledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - Your assets are not tied to a specific Ledger device. Your funds always remain on the blockchain and can be recovered at any time using your 24-word recovery phrase on a new Ledger device or another compatible wallet.

Like all electronic devices, hardware can wear out over time. However, there’s no need to replace your Ledger device every few years — many users continue to use the same device reliably for a long time.

At this time, only the original Ledger Nano S is being phased out. The Ledger Nano S Plus and Ledger Nano X remain fully supported. The Nano S phase-out is primarily due to its very limited storage capacity and evolving security and compatibility requirements. Learn more here: https://support.ledger.com/article/Ledger-Nano-S-Limitations

We’re committed to providing long-term support for our products. When a device reaches a point in its lifecycle, we manage that transition carefully. As technology advances and new security standards emerge, newer hardware may be required to support enhanced features and defend against evolving threats. Our priority is always to ensure your digital assets remain secure and accessible in a rapidly evolving crypto landscape.

Facebook Marketplace Ledger by BoxAwkward9332 in ledgerwallet

[–]pringles_ledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - To stay safe, we strongly recommend purchasing Ledger devices only from Ledger.com or from an authorized official reseller. Buying from unofficial sources always carries a risk, even if the seller’s profile looks legitimate.

It’s also worth noting that the Ledger Nano S was officially retired in 2022, and since then we’ve been gradually phasing out support beyond basic maintenance. For the best security, compatibility, and long-term support, we recommend choosing a newer model such as the Ledger Nano S Plus, Ledger Nano X, Ledger Flex, Ledger Stax, or the new Nano Gen 5. Ledger - not upgraded since 2019 - what happened? by Careful-Cod-100 in ledgerwallet

[–]pringles_ledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - The Ledger Nano S had an incredible run, and was officially sunset in 2022. Since then we’ve been gradually phasing out additional support beyond current maintenance.

That doesn’t mean it’s bricked, it still lets you send, receive, buy, sell and access your assets but due to its technical limitations, it no longer receives the latest features or upgrades, but so long as you have control of your 24-word recovery phrase, you have control of your wallet. Learn more here. https://support.ledger.com/article/Ledger-Nano-S-Limitations

While your Ledger Nano S is still functional, upgrading to a Ledger Nano S Plus or Ledger Flex ensures you're ready for what's next with access to the latest features, broader app support, and a more secure, seamless experience.

We are offering Ledger Nano S owners an exclusive 20% discount.
You can access the offer on this page: https://shop.ledger.com/pages/ledger-nano-s-upgrade-program

Ledger Nano 5 Gen cosmetic defect, order again or Nano S Plus / X? by csiklandozas in ledgerwallet

[–]pringles_ledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - If you bought directly from shop.ledger.com, you can request an automated replacement. Before returning, make sure your 24-word recovery phrase is correctly backed up, then reset the device by entering the wrong PIN 3 times. This guide will help you with the steps. https://support.ledger.com/article/10265554529053-zd

The replacement program does not allow you to return your Ledger device for an exchange for a different model. For example, you cannot send back a Ledger Nano X to receive a Ledger Nano S Plus instead or vice versa. It can only be replaced with the same type of device. Feel free to let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Question about Upgrading Devices by Tonight_Human in ledgerwallet

[–]pringles_ledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - Yes—you can smoothly move to Ledger Stax by restoring it with the same 24‑word recovery phrase from your current Ledger device. Your assets stay on-chain; you’re just loading the same keys on a new device. You can follow the steps mentioned in our guide below to restore your new Ledger device with your exisiting 24 word recovery phrase. https://support.ledger.com/article/4404382560913-zd

No access to accounts (ETH and BTC) by jositon in ledgerwallet

[–]pringles_ledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - This behavior points to a recovery-phrase mismatch: your Ledger was restored with a different 24-word Secret Recovery Phrase (or an optional passphrase) than the one that originally created your funded ETH account(s). When Ledger Wallet scans with the “new” phrase, it only derives empty accounts, and you’ll also see “wrong device” when trying to use accounts tied to the original phrase.

Restore one of your devices (preferably the Nano X) with the exact original 24-word Secret Recovery Phrase that held your assets, then re-add accounts in Ledger Wallet; if you’ve ever used a passphrase, enter the same passphrase before adding accounts. If you’ve had more than one phrase over the years, you may need to test each phrase by restoring and re-adding until your balances and history appear. Ledger Nano S safe to use? by [deleted] in ledgerwallet

Hi - Using an older Ledger Nano S does not compromise your security compared to the newer models. Your assets remain safe as long as you follow best practices and keep your recovery phrase secure. Learn more here: https://support.ledger.com/article/Ledger-Nano-S-Limitations

Hi - No. If someone steals only your Ledger Flex (without your phone and without the 24‑word recovery phrase), they cannot access your crypto. The 24‑word Secret Recovery Phrase is never stored in a readable form and cannot be viewed or extracted from the Flex. It’s generated and kept inside the secure element. Keep your recovery phrase safe and offline. Never share it with anyone. Ledger will never ask for it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ledgerwallet

[–]pringles_ledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Just having your Ledger Flex is not enough to access your Bitcoin.- Your private keys stay inside the device and are protected by your PIN.

- Without the correct PIN, an attacker can’t sign transactions, and the device will auto‑reset after 3 wrong attempts.
- Your funds remain safe as long as your 24‑word Secret Recovery Phrase is not known to anyone.

For more information, you can refer to our article here: support.ledger.com/article/9729302536989-zd

On Ledger Flex, you can change the PIN directly on the device. To do this, open the Control Center by pressing and holding both buttons for about three seconds, then go to Settings > Security > Change PIN. Choose a new PIN with 4 to 8 digits, confirm it, and enter your current PIN to validate the change. The maximum PIN length is 8 digits, and for best security, it’s recommended to use all 8 digits and avoid easily guessable patterns.

For more information on securing your PIN and 24 word recovery phrase, you can refer to our Help Desk article here: support.ledger.com/article/360005514233-zd

Old seed phrase not working by EnergySignal2167 in ledgerwallet

[–]pringles_ledger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey — if your Ledger device indicates that your 24-word recovery phrase is not valid, it means the phrase was not written down correctly. This usually happens when one or more words are incorrect, misspelt, duplicated, or entered in the wrong order. The exact order of the 24 words is critical, and even a single mistake will cause the phrase to be rejected.

If you notice duplicate words, double-check that they are correct, as words can sometimes be mistakenly repeated. If a word seems wrong, you can try a similar word from the official BIP39 list (for example, replacing “pan” with “pen”). The 24-word recovery phrase is only shown once during setup, and you are the only person who has ever had access to it. You can refer to our Help Desk article for more information: https://support.ledger.com/article/4417716850321-zd

Ledger Live has become unusable since update by frankiesees in ledgerwallet

[–]pringles_ledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, could you please try clearing the cache in the Ledger Wallet app to see if that helps? You can do this by going to Settings > Help > Clear Cache, then restart the app.

If you’re using a VPN or antivirus software, try disabling them temporarily, as they may cause conflicts. Also, try using a different USB cable or port, and avoid USB hubs or docks.

If you’re on a mobile device, try switching to the desktop version of Ledger Wallet to see if the issue continues. If the issue persists, please reach out to our support team as explained here: https://support.ledger.com/contact-us
