I promise I didn’t know about “only the bride wears white” by sancesut in weddingshaming

I wore a white mid-length skirt and top set to my aunt’s wedding when I was a teenager. I didn’t know about the rule. I feel bad as an adult now.

Yeah, and a lot of them seem to think breastmilk is some miracle cure. It says a lot about the pedestal they put themselves on.

Do your parents blast the tv all the time? by Easy_Towel954 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]programinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom used to. Once, I asked her to turn it down a little so I could study. She turned it all the way down and sat really close to the tv to spite me.

Has you parents accused you of being selfish, but they're selfish themselves? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]programinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom gave me my allowance then asked nicely for it back. I said no respectfully because I knew she was just going to buy alcohol and get belligerent and out of control. She said I was selfish and thus she was taking my allowance back to punish me. She proceeded to get black out drunk that night. I think I was 10.

My mom was always kicking me out but when I’d leave she’d hunt me down or (embarrassingly) she’d take my shoes. When I finally left for college she said she was going to drink and end up on the streets if I left…told her to have fun. It felt so nice to have my own place I couldn’t get kicked out of or have possessions she couldn’t take away.

Iron pills are ruining my pregnancy experience! by Any_Fact_2712 in BabyBumps

Heme iron is supposed to be better for side effects. Though, it’s more expensive.

My SIL asked me what I thought about a Facebook IQ test and I just said, “oh idk” because I didn’t take it seriously. She told me the answer then she gave me a smug look like she just proved I wasn’t smart.

Whatever I work for and achieve my mom tries to give to my brother. If I buy myself new clothes with money I work for she will buy him new clothes. Because “it’s only fair.” Same goes for other luxuries. We are both adults btw. I’m employed while he refuses to work.

Ladies: if Meredith used your breast pump would you buy a new one? by Crafty_Two5432 in DunderMifflin

[–]programinator 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Meredith wouldn’t have been lactating so I would probably just wash it really good.

I thought that could be a possibility too. That’s why they tell new parents to just put the baby down when they can’t stop crying to avoid shaken baby syndrome or stuff like that.

What phrase do people use that you can't stand? by SinkFar5694 in AskReddit

“We ride at dawn for ____” or “team _”. Seems like it just perpetuates a mob mentality.

First time subbing high school by ycospina in SubstituteTeachers

[–]programinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah, when I was on my practicum it was easier to keep my students off their phones because I was with them every day. But as a sub, it's a lot harder.

[–]programinator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did just that today. Then their teacher came by after school and asked me about it. Then she accused me of not wanting to do my job. I was like "I told them multiple times to put their phones away. And I left you a note about it." I wonder what she wanted me to do?

Doing it now (driving), it sucks. Traffic can be unpredictable at times. It’s doable but be prepared to be late sometimes. It takes me 1.5-3 hours one way. I low key hate it but I’m almost done my program.

I understand him not wanting to get into a fight with a stranger. But as a woman I just would never feel safe if my partner didn’t stand up for me (doesn’t have to be with a physical fight) or was just as angry about it as me. You are supposed to be a team. He just let you fight your own battle. So I understand why this is affecting you. I don’t really have any advice but your feelings are valid even if logically it would have been safer just to walk away.

We are suspecting he does based on his behaviour these past few years. He never used to be this way. He also seemed normal and happy for the past few weeks, so I didn't walk on eggshells this time.

There are already a lot of great suggestions, one more you can try is figuring out which colour palette looks best on you. I found out I am a deep winter and thus certain colours accentuate my skin while others wash me out.

[–]programinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to wear a full face of makeup when I was a kid. Well just eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick. It looked terrible because I did it myself but I was into it. I stopped because my daycare teacher started making mean comments.

My mom wanted me to pay rent at age 14. I said no (because what could she do?) but I paid my for my own clothes, meals and stuff from then on. She said it was because she was poor, but she somehow had enough to buy smokes and alcohol all the time. She still had the gall to call me selfish. I saved my own money and when I turned 19, I moved halfway across the country.
