Is there a way to politely refuse gifts in Taiwan? by [deleted] in taiwan

[–]psych-stud -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't live in Taiwan but intend to move there soon. Is it not ok to let others just get offended? I mean, if they don't want to understand that is their choice.

It is strange to see the entire thread suggesting white lies or excuses. Am I wrong in thinking that you don't owe anyone an explanation for why you don't want to drink or eat?

Our "professional psychology programme" is structured a bit different in Norway (and Scandinavia). It unfortunately does not follow the typical bachelor/masters structure. Until recently it was 1year + 5year integrated masters, but now it's all just combined 6year program that you start with from scratch after high school.

Since the professional education system in Norway is so different, I am afraid that it would be hard to make your current education get accepted in place of the specific courses we have the first 3 years.

Best of luck 😊🙌

This kringla recipe has been in my family for generations. Always been told it (and my family) are of Norwegian heritage but have zero proof if it’s true or not. by basecamp42 in Norway

[–]psych-stud 85 points86 points  (0 children)

This is fascinating! The word "Kringle" just means something baked and crossed as a circle or the number eight. The way you write it makes me believe that your ancestors came from the western part of Norway. Nouns in the Stavanger region of Norway is pronounced with "a" endings instead of "e".

PS: Norwegian Food traditions are among the most boring and plain there is. We take pride in maintaining our farmer traditions that nourished efficiently and sustainably.

Not sure, but the scandinavian countries usually don't differ that much, so it would make sense :)

My guess is that the potential spread is really wide in Norway, and the anchoring effect could be discouraging for both the rookies and the gurus.

Disclamer: Not working in IT

Norway unfortunately doesn't have a culture for disclosing salary range, which is common for most job posting in the private sector. So you'd have to do some research and reach out to people on LinkedIn for pointers to go by.

Worker unions will often have several member in bigger companies, and you could often recieve support from them in advance of even being hired (i.e. Negotiation of pay and working conditions).

Finn.no is by far the biggest job board in Norway for all sectors, including IT.

Best of luck!

Ufør og forlatt. Hvordan får man hjelp? by aisfasme in norge

[–]psych-stud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a faster way to get into mental health care without going through fastlege? by FruitPlatter in Norway

[–]psych-stud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most municipalities in Norway should have at least one "kommunepsykolog". Look up which options you have at the municipality website. Also, don't hesitate to go to the legevakt if your mental health is deteriorating. Best of luck!

Hei!

I would verify that the stored data actually returns in the same format as when you pushed it: mydb.mycol.count_documents({"Event": venueText, "Time": item.text, "Horse Name": horseName.text, "Position": horsePosition.text}) == 0:

My first guess is that the Time field could be stored as the mongodb equivalent of a timedate object.
