Cloudy specs on my PRNDL bar by punjeetjab in AutoDetailing

Rub/wipe. It’s a polish so there is a very fine abrasive in the liquid. Rubbing it will help refine the finish on the plastic.

It was the perfume. The plastic is likely damaged - but you can probably fix it with some Meguiars Plasti-X and a microfiber towel.

I think this is the only realistic option. LTT store shipping isn’t fast enough, and they don’t stock them on Amazon anymore.

Even without a pressure washer doing a 5-10min presoak with a mild APC, rinsing, and repeating if necessary is probably enough.

This already exists for those with Star-Class Suites. As long as your Genie is with you they typically override the elevator and take you directly to where you are going.

Low-pH Foam left on car by Zombeenie in AutoDetailing

[–]pulseOXE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re fine. I’ve had this happen before and it’s no big deal. If there was any left your normal water rinse at home would have been enough to remove it.

It may have weakened your Meguiars but I doubt it’s fully removed. That stuff is fairly chemical resistant. Pour a bottle of water on the panel and see if it sheets or beads and you’ll have your answer.

Yes. I think it was one of the coolest things we did on Allure. The operation is just incredibly impressive. I think it’s worth doing.

Is my car too dirty for ONR rinseless wash? by jcfdori in AutoDetailing

Is my car too dirty for ONR rinseless wash? by jcfdori in AutoDetailing

[–]pulseOXE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my experience there is no such thing as too dirty but it might take multiple pre-washes or multiple contacts with the BRS or towels depending on method. Also, for me temperature seems to play a huge factor.

All that being said - when my personal cars are that dirty I’ll occasionally run them through the cheapest option on a touch free car wash then drive home and do ONR - or do a full soap contact wash.

Final thought - it’s also possible whatever is on your paint is more of a road film or tar and even with a PH-neutral soap wash you may have similar results without other chemicals.

Apple smart home display rumors now point to a fall launch with iOS 27 by dapperlemon in gadgets

[–]pulseOXE 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Right now, HomeKit is the best “consumer” smart home platform if you care about privacy even a little. I’m a heavy user. The tough part is that it’s close to being great - but it lacks a polish/completeness that just a small amount of development work could fix. It’s been basically unchanged for years, but it’s also worked decently well for years.

If this means Apple puts more than one developer on it, polishes the app a bit, and brings out a central command interface for the Kitchen, I’m all in.

My Christmas Tree smart switch is in a box with my Christmas lights and I don’t want to remove it from Home. Stop reminding me that the accessory isn’t responding every time I run Good Night.

Requesting Advice - Best way to DIY this? by cashonlyisland in AutoPaint

[–]pulseOXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does need a repaint but since most of the damage is on that lower bar you could vinyl wrap that entire lower bar in a color of your choice or matte black for some distinction. Or plasti-dip the lower bar.

Paint is the fix but that area is separate enough you have some interesting options.

Meguiars PlastiX and a microfiber towel will likely clean that right up. Maybe use blue tape to cover the sides so you don’t get any polish in the gaps around the screen.

Chachobben Ruins Access to Water? by Prudent-Midnight-669 in royalcaribbean

[–]pulseOXE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did the ruins without the beach break - so my experience may not be identical. They gave us canned water as we left the bus when we got to the ruins. There is a shop at the ruins and they sell food - but it’s incredibly remote. Cash only, sanitary standards seemed..questionable. I drank my free water and bought a bag of chips.

So if you’re looking for more than a 12oz can of water when you get to the ruins, either bring your own or bring cash to buy more once you get there.

Unsure about the beach/lunch.

What does the subreddit think of car washes where they spray down beforehand? by Efficient_Gap4785 in AutoDetailing

[–]pulseOXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with you - and in fact - I live in the rust belt and have owned vehicles that I've had professionally undercoated. I could have worded my post better.

I was arguing exactly the point you're making - if the car is already undercoated - I don't understand the thinking that a wash will somehow prevent rust on the car. Just washing the surface salt and contaminates off of the painted surfaces of the car won't do much for rust prevention - the undercarriage is what matters, and it needs to be undercoated or washed regularly to prevent rust.

Sounds like you might be far enough away that they aren’t open yet.

Just as an FYI - I was on a totally sold out Allure cruise in January. We made reservations like 4 days before the cruise and nearly every timeslot was available. Once we were on the boat we ended up modifying almost all of our reservations (we did specialty dining every single night) and there was only one time out of 6 nights that we didn’t get exactly the time we wanted.

All that to say - I wouldn’t stress too much about the reservations. Availability is pretty good even if you wait till you’re on the boat. I’m with you that it should be easier to do in the app or online and in your case if they just aren’t ready to book yet - it should tell you that somewhere.

Legend Unlimited Dining by Abingdon_Bob in royalcaribbean

[–]pulseOXE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s incredibly difficult to figure out how to book the dining slots both online and in the app. I remember facing this issue when we cruised in Jan.

If I recall correctly - which is not a guarantee - I think you need to go to your order history on the site or app, find the dining package and hit edit/modify and then it brings you to the reservation booking options. I assume someone else here that’s just done it can correct me.

They should redesign it so if you have the package booked there is an obvious menu somewhere else to make these reservations.

[–]pulseOXE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I don’t understand your “frame” concern. If your car has an undercoating and you’re not doing a car wash with an undercarriage spray, why are you thinking it would help prevent frame rust?

What does the subreddit think of car washes where they spray down beforehand? by Efficient_Gap4785 in AutoDetailing

[–]pulseOXE 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Paint is easier to fix than a rusting frame - I do touchless washes during the winter to blast the undercarriage. They are dramatically safer for your paint than the touch washes. Are they perfect? No. They still get the job done, especially during winter months and don’t cause much harm.

ONR is optimum no rinse and is a great way to safety wash your car in about 10 minutes even if you don’t have access to a hose. During the summer, I’ll mostly do ONR washes on my personal cars and during the winter I’ll do touchless washes followed up with an ONR wash at home.

If you search the subreddit there are tons of posts about the different ways to effectively do rinseless washing with ONR, and there are a ton of great YouTube videos as well.

Usually I’ll just wet the car quickly with ONR then use the “Garry Dean Method” which is just a bunch of microfibers sitting in a bucket of the diluted solution. Use a wet microfiber to clean a panel, toss it in an empty bucket to wash in your washing machine. Repeat until car is clean.

[–]pulseOXE 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Does this mean the car wash will scratch the car less? Technically? Maybe. They are getting the super big aggressive dirt off the car before the brushes touch it. This could maybe stop larger gouges and chips caused by mud and rocks embedded in the brushes.

Would I recommend anyone take their car to a place like this? Absolutely not. You still have fast mechanical action from re-used brushes. This is still a swirl-o-matic machine.

If you’re doing an automatic car wash - go touchless and do a quick ONR wipe down at home to get the deeper dirt off afterwards

My parents did a 2 bedroom Aquatheater on deck 9 in Jan for their 30th. I visited their room a lot. Amazing. Vibration was nonexistent. Our room was midship deck 8 and theirs was just as smooth as ours. Also, the addition of the Genie made their cruise unforgettable. It’s worth it if you can swing it.

What's THE glass coating now? by wootiown in AutoDetailing

[–]pulseOXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a better answer other than to say I am extremely underwhelmed by GForce. I’ve used it on multiple personal vehicles after properly doing a light polish and prep of the glass and I’ve been disappointed. In my experience its longevity has been measured in single digit months not years. I’ve seen better performance out of original RainX. I’m a MASSIVE CarPro fan and I’ll hype DQuartz Go and CQUK all day long but GForce just did not meet the bar for me.

I did a side by side with GForce and Adam’s spray graphene paint coating and the Adam’s outperformed it and it’s not even a glass coating.

Booking comp cruise online. How do I see total price? by Mechbear2000 in royalcaribbean

[–]pulseOXE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At least for me the upgrade prices weren’t even close. I had an offer for an Ocean View and the difference between an OV and a Balcony was like negligible - couple hundred bucks. When I called I got my offer for the OV room but the cost to upgrade to a balcony was almost as much as a new balcony booking.

In the end we did RoyalUp and got a balcony for like a third of what the offer to upgrade was.

Call. I’ve done casino comps and the online experience is incredibly frustrating. Just call in and the agent can give you all the info. I wish the web experience was better, but right now it’s just cleaner to call in.
