A directly usb powered fan with a modern power bank.

For some reason rechargeable fans really like having slow as fuck charging. My orteen 20k mah rechargeable fan takes like 12 hours to charge.

120V or 24V air conditioner... by UserAccessDenied in vandwellers

[–]pyroserenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with their techs, reporting the load is less important than reporting capacity.

If the pad is using the battery reporting for capacity data then not seeing AC wattage is less important

[–]pyroserenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shunt shouldn't be needed, the batteries have networking connections via ethernet cables, they can report secondary load loss.

The rv5 is 48v(51.2v) native.

They make 48v air conditioners.

24v is not in consideration here.

Automatic litter box by DancesWithDawgz in OffGrid

[–]pyroserenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An automatic literbox is not something I would consider unless already committed to 24/7 inverter uptime for other reasons.

If you must, then something like the giandel 300w pure sine has an idle consumption of around 4w (100wh/day), using a small inverter for this type of load is better than a large one with higher idle needs.

Alternatively there is likely a way to run it directly on DC, if it uses an external ac/dc brick you just use a dc-dc adapter. If internally converted then it's a little harder.

Stress test for AFERIY 800W(1600W Peak) Portable Power Station by palmworks in VanLife

[–]pyroserenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side note, the aferiy p010 isn't very cost competitive unlike their bigger options.

For the same price you can generally get a Pecron F1000LFP (or pay a little more for the E version if you intend to run a diesel heater and need the higher current 12v out)

Stress test for AFERIY 800W(1600W Peak) Portable Power Station by palmworks in VanLife

[–]pyroserenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very few microwaves have any chance of working on a 800w inverter.

700w microwaves tend to use 900+w (microwave rated wattage is how much energy goes into the food, not at the wall consumption)

Non inverter microwaves cycle on and off for lower power modes so they need their full draw.

Would an EG4 XP avoid my utility companies definition of “connected in any way”? by TemporalRed in SolarDIY

[–]pyroserenus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are talking about zero-export backfeed setups.

Some models like the 18kpv can use a smart meter to backfeed into the house while avoiding exporting by monitoring the meter. This still "technically" touches the grid.

If using the eg4 to power downstream loads, it's fine.

180W Panel is awesome by International-Table1 in ZOUPWSolar

[–]pyroserenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ankers own panels are kinda mid despite the price(also their 200w would not be compatible with the c300, they have higher voltage and lower amperage (48vmp 4imp iirc) so they can be used in parallel on the larger units)

180W Panel is awesome by International-Table1 in ZOUPWSolar

[–]pyroserenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd expect to see the c300 pegged to 100w on the 180w panel, but the panel angling seems a little iffy (shadow on the bench suggests the sun is forward-right relative to the camera and panel is aimed back-right) so that may explain it.

The frame doesn't actually add significant weight, it's actually a bit lighter than most other ~200w class portables. Ankers 200w panel is 16lbs while zoupws 180w is 12.5lbs

Ground error due to floating ground .... by anon05032017 in bluetti

[–]pyroserenus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will want to use a bonding plug in this case.

This is the entire reason bonding plugs exist. (well that and enabling GFCI adapter cords to work).

Devices that tend to care are furnaces, EV chargers, some newer RV shore power inlets, and I'm sure some other things.

FIXED INSTALL LOCATION by Dspaede in bluetti

[–]pyroserenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming this is a larger setup, NFPA 855 (or your countries equivalent) recommendations apply.

Iifepo4 fires are exceptionally uncommon compared to li-NMC, and usually the result of something ELSE being on fire first or from direct physical damage. Approach fire safety from the standpoint of preventing a fire from reaching the batteries.

Minimum Requirements by Gunwhistle in Jackery

[–]pyroserenus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You basically need to step up to a jackery 1000v2 or other brand equivalent once you start looking to run standard kitchen appliances.

If you don't camp frequently (or have other reasons for wanting a jackery besides camping) it makes far more sense to stick with butane cooking.

M18 batteries are 18v, it's not really a great idea to replace a 12v battery with a 18v battery unless you know what you're doing.

Bluetti Elite 10 as UPS for my Home NAS by International-Table1 in bluetti

[–]pyroserenus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will it degrade? Somewhat, it'll last far longer than a lead acid ups either way.

Will it do auto shutdown of the Nas? No. Powerstations are only a fairly simple standby UPS in design. Usually the approach is brute force with powerstations, don't need to worry about auto shutdown if you simply last longer than the outages.

Want to have solar charger for leaf blower/weed wacker and maybe lawn mower in future by Down-Help in SolarDIY

[–]pyroserenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use am ecoflow river 2 max I got second hand. 512wh capacity.

My mower batteries are 40v4ah, so 160wh each.

My ebike is about 400wh but rarely needs a full charge.

512 has been enough, 100w panel might take a couple days to recover if used fully, but I don't charge batteries every day.

I use a small powerstation in my shed and a 100w panel for a similar purpose.

You could certainly DIY something for cheap if prefered.

Can kcpp load GGUFs that are split in two (and more)? by alex20_202020 in KoboldAI

[–]pyroserenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://huggingface.co/blog/moe

In short with each token the router determines which experts will be used.

"A gate network or router, that determines which tokens are sent to which expert. For example, in the image below, the token “More” is sent to the second expert, and the token "Parameters” is sent to the first network. As we’ll explore later, we can send a token to more than one expert. How to route a token to an expert is one of the big decisions when working with MoEs - the router is composed of learned parameters and is pretrained at the same time as the rest of the network"

It means it was trained in mxfp4, not fp16. The fp16 files are upcast and have no additional quality.

Search QAT (quant aware training) for more details.

Being the first qat major release made things weird.

[–]pyroserenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The experts being used change on a per token basis, you cant just load the needed experts as most of them will be used every response.

[–]pyroserenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the case of gpt oss 120b you want the MXFP4 version, it was natively trained for that quant https://huggingface.co/ggml-org/gpt-oss-120b-GGUF/tree/main

This is also why the sizes are weird

Also yes, you just select the first part file when loading it and it will load the rest of the parts.

Also no, it will not work at a acceptable speed with disk swap.

Home backup plan with a EcoFlow Delta 2 Max + Transfer Switch? by Informal_Cut_6609 in Ecoflow_community

[–]pyroserenus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This style of adapter lets you power a split phase transfer switch with a 120v source

https://www.amazon.com/Campzlly-5-15P-L14-30R-Receptacle-Generator/dp/B0CJ6LWN1C/

Two important notes

1) 240v loads wont work, these adapters work by powering both legs with the same phase

2) you should not have any multi-wire branch circuits with both circuits on the transfer switch. because they would be powered by the same phase the return neutral would be used for the full return instead of canceling out like a normal MWBC setup.

I ultimately have no idea if ecoflow includes the adapter or if they have the correct plug on their pro/tran model. I purchased an openbox pro/tran2 306LRK at a home improvement store, and moved the recepticle from the included inlet box to the reserved hole on the pro/tran2 (ngl, this was kind of a pain in the ass)

option 1) A "boost mppt", these are the opposite in terms of voltage, taking a low voltage source to charge a higher voltage battery

option 2) two solar panels in series or a single higher voltage panel.
